Default envelope question

What is the best adhesive to use on envelopes???

I made some last night and they ALL opened back up with my tombo permanent adhesive :0(

I know there is a double sided tape that some use but I forgot what it was??

Thanks in advance for any tips

Tombow does not work in the summer. I have a new tape I like...Ducky Brand at Joann's. You have to buy 4 at a time (maybe 3) because that is how it is sold but that tape is much better. Tombow does not stay stuck. I made a mini book for a friend's birthday and was so embarrassed when it feel apart on the first hot day in her house. Her air conditioner broke and the book pages and pretties literally fell off.

I second this! I use the Duck Brand adhesive as well and rarely does anything ever come apart with it--anything I've had not stick with it is because of stress on the area, like the long edge of a box or something. You can also get it in the office supply section of Wal-Mart, where is is cheaper than at JoAnn's (at least standard price without the JoAnn's coupon). I swear by this stuff and have used it for years.

And that's my 2¢, for what it's worth!

I use ATG for everything and never have a problem. You have to remember that ATG was/is made for custom picture framing so it will stick forever pretty much. Think of how upset you'd be if you paid hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars for something to be professionally framed and then it came apart overnight?! ATG is the way to go.

Believe it or not, I use an old-fashioned glue stick for envelopes. They never come apart. I think I got the glue sticks 3 for $1 at the Dollar Store.

When I get ready to mail the cards, that's what I use to seal the envies, too.

I've used glue sticks, terrifically tacky tape, and sobo glue. These all work great also.

I live in Colorado, an arid state, so items using glue sticks end up drying out and popping open. We have a group who makes cards for our church and layers or envelopes using glue sticks don't reliably stay closed. I use double stick tape.

I love the Duck brand tape, also. Our Walmart used to carry it but hasn't in several years. Using the 40% Joann's coupon really helps!

This is the very reason why I NEVER use tombo. I use the cheap ADTECH from walmart or Michaels and it sticks!!!

I use scor-tape - it works really well! Scotch double sided tape also works really well.

I use glue stick and sometimes 2-sided tape (but I find the Duck brand does not work as well as Scotch brand) when putting the envelope together and I use Lick & Stick by Green Sneakers to seal. Once it dries, it will work whenever you "lick" it. I have never had a problem with it.

Default double sided tape

Hi,
I have tried all kinds of adhesives and found Creative Memories "tape runner" to be the absolute best. It's completely permanent. (so much, that it will tear your paper if you ever try to remove it or take something off). It is worth the cost! (You have to get Creative Memories stuff online or from a consultant though).

I just use a good quality glue stick (Usually Elmer's) when I fold the envelope. Some glue sticks are totally worthless so you just might try another brand, Also glue sticks can dry out especially when you have small children who like to take the caps off. I was going to throw the dry ones out and then I decided to try to rehydrate them. Guess what, it worked. So now I usually put a bit of water in the tubes before putting them away. I have some envelopes that have been sitting in my attic room for a couple of years (where they get quite hot in the summer and cold in the winter) and they are still fine. I was just applying the glue stick to the edge before mailing cards that I use myself, but I also bought some Lick and Stick to use on the open edges when I make cards for someone else to use. Hope that information helps you.

I use to use the Ad-Tech at work in the patients card shop where it was very warm and humid and everything fell apart and had to be retaped.

I mix equal parts white glue and vinagar. I used it to assemble my homemade envies and put it on the flap too (but don't close it) let it dry then you can lick the flap just like a regular envie to close

I am very surprised. I work in my basement (in a very old house) and I have cards that I used tape on as far back as 4 years ago when I discovered Ad-Tech. They look like I just made them. I also have samples in my workroom that I made at stamp camps with SU snail that are falling apart and/or discolored. I love SU products - I am a demonstrator after all - but I do not like the tape.
Are you still using the Ad-Tech? I did use the Duck brand from Wal-Mart's office supply area befor I started using Ad-tech and I really liked it. Not quite as cheap though.
Good luck with your patient's projects!
