HTDT? Tips & Tricks for the June Release! (06.02.09)
Hi all! Guess I'm up first! I've got a fun tip using your Stardust Clear Pen to mimic the look of Copic Spica Glitter pens!
Int eh first pic, I stamped out a few of the skulls from The Poppies, and colored in both the bones and the bow using the Stardust pen. Make sure that the area is colored in completely, as evenly as possible. I generally coat the image twice with the Stardust pen, allowing it to dry completely between coats.
In pic 2, after the Stardust pen is thoroughly dry, I have gone over the bow with my Copic marker of choice.
In pic 3, I've used my Stardust tip to color in her red electric guitar!
I hope you guys will try this at home, it adds the perfect touch of glittery goodness!

Here's my tip for the June release...one of the projects I did for this release involved coloring on fabric - and Copics are perfect for this task! There is a bit of a trick to coloring with Copics on fabric though. First - I stamped my Who's That Grillin' Guy? image directly onto the fabric using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. For this example - I'm just using scrap of white craft fabric.
Once you've stamped your image - you can color directly onto the fabric using your Copics. The thinner the fabric - the less ability it has to soak up the Copic ink. You may find that the ink will really fan out as your color - so after a few failed attempts at getting a nicely colored images - I figured out a couple of tips for coloring on fabric. The first tip is to put a heavy cardstock under your image before you color it - the cardstock will help to absorb some of the ink so it doesn't fan out as much. The other key to coloring on fabric is to start in the middle of the area you want to color and let the ink fan out towards the edges - this will help it from bleeding over the lines of the image as well - you can see this in the attached pic...
Once I had my image colored (I was even able to add a bit of shading) - I machine stitched it onto a little $1 kids apron - this is part of a set that I made for my 4 year old - more to come on the blog hop later - hee hee...

Hi everyone, I'm going to show you how I added some charcoal to the bottom of my grillin' guy's grill.
Step 1: Color the inside of the grill using W1 and W3 Copic markers
Step 2: Use a W7 to add little circles for the charcoal briquettes.
Step 3: Use a black (or dark gray) Prismacolor pencil to add some definition around the briquettes.
(continued in the next post)

Step 4: Use a white (or light gray) Prismacolor pencil to add in some light-colored areas. This will help your briquettes look like they've been burning long enough to have started turning gray.
Step 5: Here's the charcoal all finished.
The last photo is my finished card.

Hello, everyone! I love the look of the embossed Primas, but sometimes I don't have one that's just the right color for my project! Here's how you can make your own!
In the first photo, I have a few Prima Obsessions flowers and some Cuttlebug dies that look pretty similar.
In the second photo, you can see that I cut out the shapes and ran them through my Cuttlebug in three different embossing folders: D'vine Swirls, Spots & Dots, and Swiss Dots.
In the third photo, you can see a closeup of the cut and embossed flowers.

And here they are on my card!
Try it! You'll have embossed flowers that are custom made for your project!

great tips, it's so nice to play with people that share!
this is a little tip for coloring on fabric, I used to make labels for quilts and it was difficult to write on the fabric because it would shift. Iron the fabric onto a piece of freezer paper that'll stabilize it a bit. I didn't work with copics back then so I can't say how the bleed factor will work out. I used very fine tipped markers and water colors on most of my labels. I know you all like to experiment so it's just something you can try out.
