Default Wedding Favors & Thank You Cards !

Hello...

Any ideas for wedding favors???

My brother is getting married in July and the invitations went out on Monday so now onto easy Thank You cards and favors...any ideas?

The wedding is in Chicago so it will be hot. I am in search of a wedding favor that does not involve chocolate or anything that can melt. My brother also mentioned maybe something that did not "collect dust" after the wedding but would be consumed/used.

Any thoughts would be great

What about doing flower seed packets. I know there's a poem somewhere that goes with it, but not sure where right now. HTH

I don't know if anyone would like this idea, but here is a favor idea I had:

Outlet Cover Favors

I thought it was a cute project and would be something "different".

My son and DIL gave out tree seedlings at their reception. I wrapped the root ball in cellophane and tied with ribbon and small tag with their names, wedding date, small stamped floral image & short little poem about the seedling (can't remember it now). People could plant the trees and have it remind them of the special day.

How about a small cello bag of coffee (flavored if they like it) with a tag printed with the bride and groom's names and "A Perfect Blend"? You could tie a little scoop to that if the budget allows.

don't know if this would help or not. my walmart here in PA has a bunch of Martha Stewart wedding favor containers on sale. 20 for $3.50. I got boxes with ribbons and tags with a silver print on them ( going to add a festive silver embellishment to them and use them for Christmas stocking stuffers or table favors, will work with the printed image on the boxes) and also little bags with toppers and tags, frosted bag and going to flip the topper inside out and decorate it for Christmas also. These have a gold topper with white leave print and a square white tag) You could add something to the inside that you guys think is a good idea. Don't know if the bride has a theme for the wedding etc.

I just went to a wedding on Sat{that i helped plan} she had 2 wonderful favors 1 was a wine bottle stopper with a tag attached it was a beach wedding so she ordered starfish stoppers and put them in an antique metal bucket full of sand it was quite beautiful. she also made a CD with their favorite songsm made a label that was both printed and stamped as well as a cover for the CD case it was a nice personal touch,

Is this a traditional formal wedding? what are the colors?

At my cousin's wedding, they gave CD's. They made CD's of a variety of music that was played at the wedding, and for the case covers, they put a picture of them and their wedding date. Sorry, don't have a picture to share, but blank CD's and empty cases can be purchased for very little. It just takes a bit of time to create the first CD, then you just burn copies. Hope this helps.

Poem: We gave a hundred favors
A hundred did we say?
We gave a thousand favors
One warm and gorgeous day.
We didn't put our name on them
or any other words,
Because our favors were seeds
For summer birds.
This poem is adapted from a Valentine poem I received in a Valentine card with bird seed.

Default 2 ideas....

For my best friend's bridal shower I printed a sugar cookie recipe on a card and attached a heart shaped cookie cutter with a tag that read "Stefanie and Charlie - truly cut out for each other!"

My cousin gave boxes of TicTacs at her daughter's wedding with a self-adhesive tag over the label that read "Denise and Jammy 'mint' to be together!" She used address labels and printed them on her computer with a photo of the bride and groom. The labels were the perfect size to cover the label on the box.

Hope this helps!

My nephew and his wife bought small jars of jam (small like the kind you get at restaurants when you order breakfast), topped them with a pretty cloth topper tied with a ribbon in their wedding colors and added a tag using the scallop punch. On onside side of the tag, they put their initials and date. On the other side was a simple crepe recipe. They had a table of old family wedding photos and the jars were arranged in tiers so it looked like a tiered wedding cake. They had over 100 jars and ordered them online.

We went to a New Year's Eve wedding and the at alternating places at the table, they had either a small packet with golf tees with their names on them with a cute topper, or a small recipe book that had 8 or so favorite Christmas cookie recipes from the bride, her mom, his mom, their sponsors, their grandmothers, etc. laminated. The book itself was maybe 4x4? the top binding was the comb-style, not the bind-it-all. KWIM? And on the front, a oval punch of their name and date. It was nice. They also didn't have a wedding cake but a table of all of the cookies from the recipe books.

Default wedding favors

Instead of wedding favors for my son's wedding we made place card on every table explaining that instead of favors the couple would make a sizable donation to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Guests really like that!!

Instead of seed packets you could make homemade paper with flower seeds in it. Cut it or tear it apart, add the poem and tell them to enjoy.

This day was shared with family and friends.
We'll love you all until the end.
Please plant this note and watch it grow.
Like our new beginning, love it's beauty so!
And as it grows each passing day,
Please remember we thank you all in every way!

For our wedding 6 years ago, my husband and I gave each person salt-water taffy (our wedding was on the beach) and a CD of our wedding song, wedding songs of our parents, siblings and wedding party. It was such an ecclectic mix, the DJ asked for a copy for himself. I spoke to him about a year ago, and he told me he still has it, and plays it at weddings!

Be careful about CDs! Don't infringe on any copyrights!!

Small candies-non chocolate, are fun! How about gourmet jelly beans? Or a fancy mix of nuts. Can you tell I was at a bulk store today?? He he LOL

I just made hundreds of stick candies (like candy canes, the ones you get at Crackerbarrel...10 for $1.00) I stamped MDC (Meghan, Davis, Cory...Meghan is the Bride, Davis is our Last name, and Cory is the Groom) I cut this out with a punch then made a black scallop and put it on the scallop, punched a small hole and added Hot Pink ribbon and tied it onto the candy stick. The stick was Black with Pink swirls...the wedding colors were Black, White, Hot Pink. Hope you can understand this it really turned out cute. I put them in a large vase with hot pink shreeded paper at the bottom. Wish I could show you but can't find the picture anywhere.

A wedding favor that we recently got was a glass votive holder shaped like a star, no more than an inch high. They put jordan almonds in a tiny bag that would fit in where the candle would sit and than took a piece of netting that had crystals on it and tied it up with ribbon that had some kind of wedding writing on it. Very cute. I'll see if I can take a picture tomorrow and post it.

Default Non-Chocolate Wedding favors

At our outdoor wedding reception on Memorial Day weekend (in California's Central Valley, no less - can you say HOTTTTT??) three years ago, I used jelly-bellies. Found some really cute, small patterned glasses in our color theme at the Dollar Tree and used those...about four per table. Got the jelly-bellies at our local Winco in the bin area....saved a ton of money that way. We also purchased some wedding-theme disposable cameras and placed one or two on each table, with a small card I made, asking our guests to use the cameras to take pictures galore. They were asked to leave the cameras on the table once they were used and we'd have them developed. We got some awesome candid shots of our special day and our beloved guests that we'd never have gotten otherwise.

Good luck and HAVE FUN planning all this! It can be a daunting task, but try to keep everything in perspective and enjoy the process...hopefully this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event and you want to remember it with fondness!!

Our wedding was held at a winery, so I decided to involve my bridesmaids and mom in helping to make the wedding favors. I had a "sleepover" at a local hotel with all of my bridesmaids and mom, and we made beaded wine glass charms (the ones that you put on your wine glass to know which one is yours, like at a party!). I had ordered pyramid boxes and made tissue paper "confetti" and placed two charms in each box and tied them with ribbons in our wedding colors. You could get ribbon with the names and dates of the wedding on them. My bridesmaids and I had a great time making the favors! If you decide to do these, send me an email and I can tell you where to order your supplies!

My sister did the music CD. She and her husband chose several songs that they both liked and wrote something special about each song to be used as the "liner notes". I did the cover art for the CD and case, and my DH burned the CD's. It was a lot less costly then some favors, but a lot more personal!

My stepson and his wife's wedding was in July, so it was hot and humid! For favors, they got silver little photo frames (the kind that will hold like a 2 x 3 photo) and used them as place settings at the reception tables and then let the guests take theirs as the favor. Another neat touch I thought they could have done was put a picture of them together inside the frame, too.

They also did the thing with putting a couple of disposal cameras on the tables with a note asking guests to use them and leave them like one of the other people said above. They really got a lot of great candid shots of the guests and them that they wouldn't have got otherwise. It really was a great idea and I highly suggest doing that.

WOW...thanks again for all of the ideas. I REALLY need to get them to make a decision so I can move forward on the favors. The invites are out, the Thank You cards are "in process" and next I need to start on these favors as July is quickly approaching.

Did I mention...my dads wedding is June 13th and my brothers July 18th...just a little crazy in my life right now...but atleast it is a "happy" state of craziness!
