prismacolor pencils on kraft CS...can you show some?
I just used my Prismacolor pencils on kraft cardstock last night and loved the way it looked, so vibrant. I'd love to see some more examples, if you've done a card like that can you post a link to it?
Thanks so much!
Erin

Here's a more recent one I did:
Zoom, zoom, zoom!!!
But, I didn't use Prismacolor pencils. I used Koh-i-Noor and a white chalk pastel pencil by General's (on the bunny)

Here is the correct link for Vintage Tulip Girl
I just colored a yellow/cream rose on chocolate chip, which turned out to be a very cool effect. Now just need to finish the actual card so I can post it!

Thanks for posting the right link for me - I can't edit the original post now! The yellow and cream on chocolate sounds lovely!

Joann,
Your cards are beautiful! How did you get the distressed edges on the cardstock? I've been looking all over for a distressing tool and I can't find one, but I love that look!

The distressed edges one (the tulip girl) is Julia's rather than mine - not sure what she uses to distress edges but I bet she'd tell you if you pm her! Tonic Studio does a distressing tool and so does Heidi Swapp.
Personally, I'm too mean to buy a tool specifically for this job I use a pair of scissors held with the blades slightly apart so they form a V shape and run paper through there or just use my fingernails if I'm after a slightly softer distressed look. To give you an idea how this looks, this card was done with the scissors method round the edge of 140lb watercolor paper.
HTH!

Question Here! Are you all using the same paper or are you using something that fairly close matches Kraft paper or a brown paper bag? They all seem to have different tones. Thanks

I also couldn't find a distressing tool so I improvised too. I bought a seam ripper in the sewing aisle at Walmar for $1 or so. Works like a charm. Just run the edges of the cardstock through the seam ripper.

I love this. I have only colored on Kraft once but here is mine:

Also I just use the edge of my scissors to distress. I find it works the same. Stampin Up used to make a distressing tool too. Not sure if they still do..

Here's a close-up on a card I haven't posted yet. It seems like kraft cardstock has a little rougher 'tooth' to it than other cardstocks do - am I right? The white dots are acrylic paint that I applied with a tiny stylus. Stamp image (truffle tree) is from Impression Obsession. The sign is from another set and words are handwritten.

Kraft is a generic term - kraft paper from different manufacturers will most likely be just slightly different in tone. So SU!, Prism, Scrabook Sally etc all do something called "kraft" and you'd say all of them had the look of a brown paper bag if you saw them individually but they'd look slightly different in a "usual suspects" style line up. HTH!
Love your truffle tree, Dini! And yes, I find kraft generally has slightly more tooth than many other types of cardstock - it may be one of the reasons that pencil colouring works so well on it!

 Hope you enjoy your visits!
And I just looked at your location to see why you were online at this time (since most of our friends in the US are sleeping right now!). I've never been but I believe that's a very beautiful part of the world. My husband has a colleague from Indonesia (Java, I think).

This just looks too beautiful to just be prismacolor pencils. Do you use anything else, like something to blend?

I might have blended with a stump and teeny bit of OMS on the chocolate - wherever it looks smoother...I can't remember now, and I don't have the card to look at!

I tend not to blend when I colour on kraft, I'm not sure whether it's to do with that tooth thing we were talking about but I find the colour usually goes on very smoothly, even if you build up layers and have it quite thick.

I don't blend either. I like the way it looks straight on the kraft. So rustic and earthy.

Maybe I didn't either - I don't have the card to look at anymore and I can't remember.... It does look like maybe I just blended with the pencils themselves. I love how you can use different pressures to get different looks and textures.

Can I hijack the thread for a second.... Are prismacolour pencils "plain" pencil crayons? As in not watercolour, or some other special lead? I have a quite a big pack of "regular" ones from way back when (Laurentian brand- may be canadian), and was wondering if I could use those to the same effect of prismas (like with OMS).
Thanks!
And lovely cards everyone!
Diane

Prismacolor Premier are just a brand of "artist grade" colouring pencil. Your Laurentians should work fine - I have one or two of those I got in a mixed bag of Prismas from an eBay seller and they're exactly the same sort of pencil, they give good coverage and they blend with OMS.
HTH, have fun!
