Share your Landscape
Landscapes are no less than an opportunity to create a world. Landscapes are a challenge. They take ingenuity, expertise, and inspiration, yet they seem to be under-represented in the average gallery.
Would you be willing to share what you consider to be your best landscape achievement? Please post it here. I would love to be able to amble through the worlds created by the members of SCS.

I made one!
I wouldn't say it's my best work, but it was fun to give it a try.
I'd love to see more ideas too!

I'm bummed. Do you all mean that if you don't do a landscape like Kittie or Zindorf or (my fave) Sandy Hulsart. . . that you don't do landscapes?
I appreciate these artists as much as everyone else, but I never like the idea that an artist has a "patent" or a monopoly on a style (or that everyone has to credit the well-knowns when they attempt a card in that style). And I've actually heard that the artists themselves don't really think that way either.
I was really excited, Carmellia, to see your idea and some other people's landscapes. Good for you, Benzi and Shell1969!!
I didn't even think I'd done any landscapes although I've always wanted to - not much time to stamp lately. But yours reminded me of this one, so there it is !
Lo and behold, when I went looking for it, I found this, too ~ hysterical really because until yesterday it had been my avatar for a long time and I didn't even think of it LOL!!
Hope to be seeing lots more here !
P.S. Carla - I saw you replied to this thread and was hoping you had a landscape card linked here!!

Oh, Phantom..I do feel better because of you that I even put my two cards on here. I was wishing I hadn't. Your cards are wonderful and you drew your own mountains! Now, I couldn't do that and your sky looked great, also. If I had done those, I wouldn't have forgotten.

Benzi & Phantom, thanks for the vote of confidence...like a said it was a fun card to make and to give creating a landscape to try. Personally, I've always oogled over Stampscapes...

I don't think I'll ever be able to do landscapes like that. Just looking at them gives me some great ideas though!

Oh gosh, no, I don't think these are the only two girls who can do landscapes! They just tend to do them and do them very well. It just isn't a style I've ever been very interested in, but I have tried one or two. I think there is one in my gallery, and it's not very good. The perspective is all off. A lot of the stampers around here are also artists. I'm not. I'm purely a crafter, and landscape just seems too hard for me! You are an artist. If you need mountains, you just draw them, and they look perfect! Your flower stamps are lovely. I don't have that option. If I drew mountains, people would point and laugh!!
Here is the one actual landscape in my gallery:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=55811
Here is a very odd card I did for a challenge. It's not a landscape exactly:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=55811
This one I'm only including because I kind of made a scene. It's not really a landscape:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=55811
So here you are, Phantom! Prepare to be underwhelmed!!

Good job and I think landscapes are hard, also. I just need to work on them. I've never put much into making them because I am too busy working on the
easier ones.
I loved your Warm and Fuzzy with the cute fence and the sweet kitten.

Hi...
I love to use stampscape stamps ...but seeing as I don't have many...mine are quite simple in nature and I tend to use nice background techniques as a boost. These are nowhere near like my best....but I CAN find these ones!...and neither uses my fav stampscapes either...lol!
I did my calendar page for this year's calendar in a scene too. I will see if I can manage to upload them!
I do agree with Phantom's comments though...Lots of people out there do outstanding work with landscapes, scenes, vistas...whatever you would like to call them. Trying to put a monopoly on something is pretty well impossible...as many people do the same or so very similar stuff. Just had this comment on the "sketch" issue. Before putting sketches online....we all still stamped and we all used lots and lots of what is being put out there now! I would hazard that few have not been done before.
I will enjoy checking out everyone else's stuff...Always a joy, actually!

Huh? I linked Kittie's gallery because she's well known for her wonderful landscapes. The OP's join date and # of posts indicated that she was new to SCS and so maybe she hadn't seen her work yet. I was just trying to point her to some fabulous landscape examples. No offense intended to anyone, of course!

Love your signature. I will have to show that one to the hubby...not that I am ever ever ever going near zoloft again (still dealing with trying to lose the weight I put on with it!)

Thanks! It's the truth! It's just about carving a little time out for myself every day.
And as long as I'm off-topic.....I noticed where you're from....I just heard that crazy story about the dog who fell off a boat, swam to an island through shark-infested waters, and lived off baby goats until he was found and reunited with his family. Crazy!
Ok, back to your landscapes. Other than Kittie's link, insulting landscape artists, and a dog survival story, I have nothing to bring to the table here! lol!

Great thread! Scene cards are my favorites. Like the ones ya'll have posted...the car in the snow by Benzi is my favorite..the driving owl is pretty cool too. I've done a few.. some worse than others..lol. I really like doing scene cards/drawings and some of these qualify. I like using Prismacolors and drawing in the scene myself around a stamped image or two.

Mr Hambo!
What a cute combo of stamps on those cards! Great humor. Now can you tell us what the sentiment is in side the "Flasher" card?? Or do we need to start a list?

Woo hoo!! More links to check out!! Way to go, Stargirl ~ those are great cards, Carla!
And, Ms. Krystie, you are the detective -- I think I need to start checking out if someone's new before I launch into one of my personal op pieces LOL!! You are absolutely right ~ the ladies you mentioned to set the bar high and it's fun to see their work. My comments weren't so much directed right at you ~ I think sometimes folks are afraid to try something because theirs won't be the same. Well now - that wouldn't be much fun, would it?! Thanks for clarifying though, too
Must catch up with some of these links!! And Michelle - yikes! Talk about setting that bar high! Great examples for us to learn from
Have a fab day, everyone!

Landscapes
What a great thread! I love landscapes. Seems I used to do more of them. I guess I'll have to make it a point to include more. I didn't know if wanted to see strictly landscapes only, so I'm not including the sort of floral close up landscapes (seems I have quite a few of those.) Here are some from my gallery:
Painted Desert
Lone Star Pop Up (this is the inside, I think this qualifies as a landscape)
Road to Recovery (maybe not exactly a landscape, but it was fun)
In the Garden
Holiday Frame
Thru the Woods
Brilliant Blue Season
Snowy Sunset
Winter Night
Now I'll have to go back and view all of the scenes y'all did.

Oh, you guys. Did I get sidetracked.
It was such a treat this morning to see how many people had responded to this posting. I have never been all that pleased with my attempts at landscape, or I guess I should say stampscapes. It was seeing a tutorial on brayer skies by Michelle Zindorf that has lit a fire under me.
Michelle's colt and mare are so dramatic. The sky is beautiful. That doesn't look to me like a brayer-effect, or maybe I am wrong. The car, the camper, the upside-down dress for a tulip - you are all so original. There is so much personality in your cards.
Where I got sidetracked was at the Hambo pig. I went to Hambo Stamps and you probably know what came next. I haven't put in an order for that big a list of stamps since I first got into stamping and had nothing. Most of them are retiring stamps, so I am holding my breath that some or most of them will be left. I NEED that Money Holder for my BIL's birthday. (Directions: Insert money and return).
Isn't stamping a wonderful compulsion?

Hey Kristie Lee...that was really close to me....Off Mackay ...an hour's drive away and where I have to go to do all our business (I live out in the cane fields area of Koumala).
The dog was in remarkably good condition and is truly very lucky! The water might look that really tropically gorgeous colour here...but I have been fishing too many times and caught too many sharks to want to actually swim in there! And this is apart from the crocs!
But isn't it lovely to hear something good on the telly instead of all the doom and gloom....
Think we should all go make doggie cards today to celebrate! Maybe a scene with the doggie in the water with islands behind...with a good luck sentiment!

And as long as I'm off-topic.....I noticed where you're from....I just heard that crazy story about the dog who fell off a boat, swam to an island through shark-infested waters, and lived off baby goats until he was found and reunited with his family. Crazy!
Ok, back to your landscapes. Other than Kittie's link, insulting landscape artists, and a dog survival story, I have nothing to bring to the table here! lol!

Hi Camellia...The colt and mare are brayer with sponging....took a little bit of experimenting to get right but worth it!.........the bush scene is the madras brayering style....which is uber easy!
Cheers,

Did you make the rolling hills with sponging?
