Unmounted Rubber, no foam, Can I use like Acrylic?

I bought a cute stamp set from Flower Soft. It is a grey rubber sheet that I have to trim. I have never had to trim any before. I am not concerned about trimming it, but more about how to store and how to use. Do I need to have some sort of backing on it to get a good impression, or can I put it right on the acrylic block and it stick good enough for me to stamp. I am going to cut it out, but if it needs a foam mount on the back I would think it would be better to cut both at the same time.

If it is a line image then I usually just stick a strip of two sided tape on my block and then stick the rubber on that and it works fine. If it is a solid image, you are better off with some kind of backing like EZ Mount. In either case, I store mine in CD cases...not the slim ones, just the regular kind...just take out the insert, add more two sided tape and stick the rubber in. (If you mount them on foam you obviously no longer need the tape in the case...)

I apply a thin coat of Alene's Tack-It Over and Over glue to the backs of unmounted stamps. Let the glue dry overnight. After it's dry, remove some of the tackiness by sticking the adhesive to the leg of your pants or your sleeve to "lint it up" a bit. Then you can just apply the stamp to your acrylic blocks just like clear stamps, and also store them in the CD cases as Cathy mentioned above. I even remove the foam from cling-mount stamps anymore and do this because it's saves storage space!

I personally love Creative Cling from TAC. Can't go wrong with it. I am even one of those OCD people that un-mounts other stamps to put on the cling. Then I store them in my stamp binders on the storage boards they sell. LOVE THEM!!!!

to get the best image you will need to experiment - I have a stamping pad which is thick dense foam but you could try some fun foam under the paper/cardstock you are stamping on or even some magazine or more paper - just something with a little bit of give.

I'm in the process of the ATIOAO method myself and I order bare rubber to get more images for my money. HTH.

Where did you find the glue? I have been looking for this and nobody carries it anymore!

Well, if you have a future visit planned to Northeast Ohio, you could get it from me. I carry it at the store I manage. I've heard a lot of people say they can't find it anywhere, but I've had it for months and never have problems getting it from my supplier. (Famous last words... my next order will probably end up going on backorder!)

Love Aleen's Tack it over and over. I had a LOT of trouble finding my last bottle though and then wound up finding it at Michael's (in Canada) - in the 'glue' department - not the stamping department. Also...you should try quilting stores...I think that's what the stuff was originally made for - for repositioning pieces of fabric or something....I dunno I'm a card maker not a quilter

I think Joanns online still has it. I bought 2 bottles this past winter. I had a hard time finding it also, then just did an Aleene's search on Joanns and there it was.

I use unmounted rubber with Tack n Peel on an acrylic block. If there is no cushion, you need to be sure to have some kind of cushion underneath. I stamp on a stack of paper.

I use naked rubber all the time. I stamp on a stack of scratch paper. I actually don't like the cling mount-it gives me all kinds of grief!

you can also cut the rubber down to just the image and then use Tombow Multi GLue ( green cap) and put it all over the back. Let it dry overnight and it is "repositionable".
I just went to a convention and was excited at the savings of just buying the rubber only - then came home and did this to them and now can use them on the acrylic blocks I already own! I always get great clear images! HTH!
