Default WT211 - Hot Metal!

WT211 – Hot Metal!

I’m very excited to be your final guest hostess for March’s WT challenges – we’ll be welcoming Julia back next week!

For today’s challenge, I’m going to send you into the laundry room. You can ignore any piles of clothes or bedding in there though because what I want you to do is to find crafty ways to use your iron!

If that has you scratching your head, here are a few ideas to get you going – you’ll probably come up with loads I haven’t thought of, too:
  • Make a melted crayon background - instructions in Resources
  • Do a wax paper resist – instructions in Resources. For a different look, try running the paper through an embossing folder rather than scrunching and flattening.
  • Iron fusible webbing onto mulberry paper or thin fabric and stamp on it or die cut it
  • Get out the Fantasy Film or Angelina Fibres for some fusible fun
  • Stamp on fabric with an ink like Versacraft and use your iron to fix the ink and make it permanent

Please remember to put WT211 in your keywords section and post a link back here so that we can all see your work. Please upload NEW designs for this challenge but feel free to create and upload as many as you like, for as long as you like.

Here’s my sample: Velvet Christmas and a detail shot of the texture if you want to see it closer up here

WT211 Gallery Submissions

Looking forward to seeing what you all create!

Just finished ironing my wax paper sandwich. I didn't have any hope that it would work...as you can't really see any wax....and then lo and behold when I put the ink pad to the paper...it DID !!! How fun. I didn't use the brayer....just ran the entire pad over the card stock. Worked OK.
Will be back in a bit with the finished card.

Here is my card. I made it up quickly because I had some wax paper resist already in my scrap drawer. I love this sheep stamp! Thank you to Dawn, flowergal36, who RAKked it to me! It arrived the SAME DAY our first lamb of the year was born here on the farm. Sweet!

this so reminds me of the freezer paper technquie that used to a topics a few years back. It was such fun, we used napkins, and ironed onto freezer paper; if two ply, we needed to pull off extra white layer.
We co-ordinated background on card and envelope to match

Wow! GREAT idea for a Ways To Challenge....However, now I have to go clean up my house...I couldn't find the iron...Okay, I have only used the iron in the past 10+ years to craft....LOL! Anyway, DH had used it and put it by my alarm clock....3 months ago! You'd think I'd remeber that, right? Since I have to turn that darn thing off every morning....LOL!

Here's today's IRONed Card!

Finally made it - just as it got too dark for a good outdoor photo.

I did try the crayon background technique, it was a washout. But thanks for a great challenge today, Joanne. At least I did move out of my normal zone.
