Default HTDT? 03.24.09 Flopsey Card w/Removeable Bookmark

Hi everyone! I was so excited when Kim asked me to do a HTDT tutorial for my Flopsey card with a removeable bookmark. My daughter's teacher had shared a wonderful book with me, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. (Oh, how that story tugs at your heart.) Anyway, I thought this card, with the bunny and bookmark, would be a perfect thank you.

Here we go!

1. Make your card base. (My finished card measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".) I added the strip across the center so that once the bookmark is removed, the card isn't too terribly plain.

2. Stamp and mat your focal image. (Mine measures 4 1/4" x 2 7/8".)

3. Add two thin strips of foam tape to the backside top and bottom edges of your focal point.

I used a 4" length of 1/2" foam tape. I cut it in half (so I had two 4" x 1/4" lengths) then in half again (four 4" x 1/8" strips). I then stacked two lengths across the top edge and two lengths across the bottom edge.

4. Make your bookmark. Remember that it needs to fit easily between the two strips of foam tape. (My finished bookmark measures 5 1/2" x 2 1/4".)

I raised the bunny image on pop dots so that if the recipient wants to remove the ribbon/twill, it will easily slide out from under the image.

5. Lay the bookmark across the front of the card.

6. Adhere card focal point over bookmark, making sure the foam tape does not touch the bookmark.

And here it is with the bookmark pulled out.

You can find info (keyword, etc.) for the challenge here.

How wonderfully timely. My DS asked me to make a thank you for his English teacher today and this looks just perfect. What a creative way to say thanks. Now, if only I had gotten that flopsy set!! Thanks so much to you for sharing your talented idea with us. I am also writing down the name of that book...

ty so much for replying to me Jody....visited your homestate and love Williamsburg and the naval base at Viriginia Beach. I am in upstate NY and love the country. Guess I will have to go to the site you gave me and buy, buy and buy. Have six "real" rabbits myself, three dogs, two quarter horses and six cats!!!!!!!!! Keeps my hubby and I busy but never too busy for my stamping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! I am a SU hobby demo myself and am sure I have paid someone pay check at SU several times over! Keep in touch. Love to hear from people as I am a nurse who is disabled now. And only 57 years old. Blah. Yet it now gives me tons of time to stamp. YEAH.
