Cool Best Ink for Images (to prevent bleeding) When Using Copics

Maybe I need to allow the stamped image to dry longer. I use Stazon and it bleeds even when I avoid the lines as much as possible. What say you?

I'm no expert here, but I've read you should NOT use staz-on with the copics. I've used the hybrid ink from PTI and it works great.

Default momento

As I'm shopping at PTI I see a Fresh Snow ink is available, is it better than the white Stazon? I really don't like that stuff.

I use memento and brillance on neenah classic solor white paper. Great combo for coloring with copics.

If you can afford to get another pad, try the one specifically formulated for using with Copics by A-Muse art stamps. It's fabulous, quick drying and never smears! I believe it is also recommended by Marianne who does a Copic Blog called I like markers:
http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/

Good luck! The other inks are great too, but Amuse is the FASTEST drying and never smears one for me! The others sometimes smear depending on which cardstock is used...but not A-Muse's ink!

Here's the link to the inkpad:

I use Memento Tuxedo Black ...I hated my Stazon and tossed it LOL It did nothing but stain up my stamps bad (had to buy stazon stamp cleaner to get it off) and it bleeds too much.

Do let us know what you think if you try that black ink! I've been using it all weekend, and am almost ready to send the other black inks on their way....that's how much I believe it works!

I will post and let y'all know! I bought the A Muse pads (before I ordered they confirmed which one for Copics) on Wednesday but my order didn't ship til Friday. So it should be here tomorrow but now I'm still waiting on my Monday SU order to ship out with my new patty's day set so I can use my copics but I imagine I'll just do something else so I can try the pads.

Quick question here---where can you buy Memento Black ink? Is it only on-line?

I tried Joann's, Wal-mart, Target and my LSS (that's all we have here, besides a lot of snow right now) and haven't been able to find any. I want SO BADLY to try some out with my Bic markers because the Staz-on, black dye ink, and black chalk ink I have all smear. I even tried embossing pigment ink with black embossing powder over it, and it STILL smeared.

Default Memento

Our local craft store Hobby Lobby carries that product line but were out of the black when I went on Thursday. So other than that all I know is on-line.

I use Versafine Onyx Black and Clear Detail Embossing powder... the embossing really makes the colors of the Copics pop! I have also used Memento Tuxedo Black and it also works great.

I use both of these methods too! The embossing insures absolutely no bleeding!

I have heard that the Memento ink in Tuxedo black, with the Neenah Solar white paper are THE BEST.

Myself, I use Ranger Distress ink in Black Soot, and it works quite well, but I've been wanting the Memento and the Neenah to try.

You are definitely NOT supposed to use Staz-On with them. It only works with water-based inks, not with alcohol-based inks, like Copics.

HTH!

I believe you can get it at almost any retail stamp store (maybe they have to special order it though if not a regular line they carry all the time).
I also found it at the Joann Super store in my area one time but haven't looked for it lately.

I use Palette Noir. You can buy it through PTI. I've also used Adirondack Pitch Black but I like the Palette ink best. Haven't tried Memento or Tim Holtz's Black Soot.

If you want to check out some seriously thorough tests done on various papers/inks with copics, Prismacolor markers (also alcohol ink) and SU Markers, check out this thread, post #7 for a link to Dana's blog with her results.

still waiting........pkg didn't leave Los Angeles until MONDAY evening! A Muse shipped it late Friday. I will post my "opinion" once it gets here. I don't have any special white except SU's so it still might not give me the perfect result I'd like. So it's possible I'll need to order some of the paper that was recommended on this post.

Memento Ink works great with NO heat setting. Palette and Brilliance both require heat setting. Memento also works great with Pencils and OMS and watercoloring. I like a one pad fits all ink and I also can't stand having to drag out my heat tool every time I want to color with Copics.

The two Black inks I use all the time are: Palette Noir ink & Momento ink.

No ink Bleeding when I color with my Copic Markers.

I also use White Cardstock from The Angel Company and Whisper White Cardstock from SU.

I'll have to order Memento on-line. Any recommendations about where to get it where shipping won't cost more than the pad?

Well I ordered the A Muse pad they recommended for Copics via email and I'm sad. When stamping on SU Whisper White paper it takes up to 5 minutes to dry AND the ink doesn't like the SU markers as I was going over lightly on a small spot for emphasis on a image and it bled.

Can the SU paper be the cause of it taking time to try? I don't know but I'm pretty bummed. I'll try the Copics tomorrow...................

I just did an ink comparison -- best to use with Copics. You can find it here:

Default Best ink for using Copics

I have had great success with Adirondack Pitch Black and Expresso. I don't attempt to color it right away but it works well when I do get back to it.
