Default Staying with Mounted

Is anyone partial to the mounted rubber stamps? I feel like I could never un-mount them and I'm still mounting new sets. I do understand why people are doing this and I may end up keeping new sets off the wood. For some reason I just like the wood blocks. Am I just a creature of habit? Or maybe I just don't have enough sets. I don't have a storage problem as of now at all. I have about 60 wooden sets...Anyone else still like the wood mounts?

I prefer wood mounted stamps! I have tried the unmounted rubber and the clear stamps and I always go back to wood mounted. I have even mounted my unmounted rubber onto wood!

I feel wood mounted stamps give the best impression and I don't rock the image like I tend to with clear. I also like that with wood mounted stamps it is a one step process to stamp...ink and stamp. With unmounted/clear it is multiple steps...mount, ink, stamp, unmount.

I am not a new stamper and I have a fair number of sets too. I don't think I will go unmounted any time soon

I still have all my wood mounted sets as they are, I have also ordered alot of stamps that are unmounted and clear stamps. I will be keeping my wood mounted on the wood because I like them that way, I don't like the idea of unmounting them I personally don't have the heart to do it. I figure if I start running out of storage space I will just get DH to make me another cabinet to store more stamps in. This is my personal prefrence I don't have anything against those of you who choose to unmount your stamps.

I also like my stamps wood mounted. I think I have easily 300+ sets. It just seems easier to work with a stamp that is mounted and ready to go.
I still mount any UM stamps that I buy. ;)

I love wood mounted stamps, they are just so much easier to do like a previous poster said, you don't have to constantly unmount them from the block after using.

I love my wood mountes. If I have the choice to buy rubber/woodmounte or cheaper clear - I ALWAYS buy the rubber wood mount. They last longer than the clear and they stamp so much better.
There is only 1 stamp set I actually unmounted. It is a very old SU set and the adhesive mount was all letting lose and icky. I bought from EBAY. That I did remount onto cling foam. But none of my other wood mountes will ever be unmounted. I love the wood blocks.

I also much prefer the wood mounted stamps, and I always choose mounted over the others even though they cost more. I agree with the previous posters that they last longer, make a better impression, and are easier to use.

I'm also a fan of the wood mounted. I think they're more comfortable to hold and I don't like having to stamp, clean, remove, put away, put the next one on, etc. Wood mount are quick and easy!

I prefer the wood mounts, too. I do like the cheaper cost of the others, and have bought several - mainly special occassion ones that I could not bring myself to purchase an expensive version. I will use both without a problem, but if money was no concern I would go for the wood mounts.

I also prefer wood mounted. I have a few unmounted rubber stamps and never use them. I also like high-quality clear. But wood just feels best in my hand.

I prefer wood mounted but I love the rubber stamps on EZ mount because of storage. I will never unmount what I have but I wish I had room to have all the stamps I love wood mounted. I am not really a fan of acrylic stamps. So if I buy unmounted stamps they are mostly rubber. Just a quirk of mine.

I too would never harm my wood-mounted babies by unmounting them. I don't care about how much space they take up, I just LOVE the way they stamp.

My daughter and I were stamping the other night and I got an acrylic stamp out that I had for her to use, she couldn't believe you had to peel it off the clear sheet, stick it on the block, then put it back on the clear sheet when she was done.

Needless to say, we both prefer wood mounted sets and I have over 200 sets to prove it.:-D

definitely sticking with wood mounted. Love the feel of the wood. It just seems more solid and sturdy to me. I'll keep getting mine wood mounted for as long as wood blocks are made.

i MUCH prefer wood mounted rubber!

any un-mounted rubber i have bought gets mounted too.

i have a few clear stamps but never really use them. i just don't like the extra steps and can't seem to get a good crisp image either.

to each his own tho...

I really don't care for unmounted or clear at all....

I even bought a big old box of someone elses blocks so I can mount all the unmounted rubber I have. Space is an issue as I have around 300+ SU sets, (oh crap, did I just admit to my addiction?). I just love them mounted because they "feel" right and I don't have to fuss with them when I'm ready to stamp.

Default Staying with Mounted

I like the wood mounted stamps best.

I have some clear and use them; I like it that you can see thru them and the acrylic block, though you have to be careful not to press them too hard when stamping...or you can squish the image...and if you press too lightly, you can get an uneven print.

Wonder why rubber stamps arent mounted on acrylic blocks...like the wood mounted ones? You'd have the best of both worlds.

Wow. I've never seen such a pro wood thread before. It's really hard sometimes to gauge public opinion about preference. Tomorrow there could be a pro unmounted thread.

Yes, the statement "They are close to my heart" stated in a few posts above seems to sum up my feelings too. They are just too "close to my heart" too!!!! I thought maybe I was alone on this one. Guess not.

I prefer wood, but I'm unmounting lesser used stamps due to storage (now to figure out what to do with all the wood). Some of my favorite mounted stamps will never become un-mounted as they are my friends and I think it would hurt their little feelings (yes, I know I must get a life). Also, I have some stamps with the beautiful lazer cut images, those are just too pretty to unmount.

Wood mounted stamps will always be my first love. I can not imagine un-mounting any of my mounted stamps. That said, I do also purchase clear (cling) stamps and like them fine. I rarely buy unmounted rubber stamps but if I do, I now turn them into cling stamps by using Aileens (sp?) tack-it-over-and-over. Great stuff.

I am another one who loves the wood mounted but due to space issues, will be unmounting alot of them. I started with a few of my retired SU sets and will probably move on to my current sets. I also am buying unmounted stamps when I can. I have discovered that I really love the rubber, whether it is wood mounted or unmounted. It is the clear stamps that I am not crazy about. I want to add that the biggest reason that I have opted to do this finally other than space, is that I love the handles from Unity Stamp. They are like using a wood mounted stamp with being able to see where you are. Love them!

I prefer wood mounted over unmounted, although I do have some unmounted ones and clear ones that I use also. I'm starting to run out of room now, but I really do NOT want to unmount them all, so I will just have to find more space to store them! I like the feeling of holding the wood mounted rubber stamps better than using the acrylic block. I have unmounted all my SU wheels though and put them onto EZ Mount and I really like them. They see a lot more ink this way, because I am very wheel challenged.

I love love love the feel of a wood mounted stamp. There is no other option that has that stability. For that reason, most of my sets are mounted and will stay that way. But (you knew that was coming) I am a "keeper" which means I never get rid of babies, I mean, stamps. So I'm starting to unmount my older, seldom used, sets using Tack it over and Over, and placing them on the unattached clamshell lids ((a move which is for space only)), I have to say that it's a good compromise for me.

Thanks for starting this tread that lets us "woodies" feel validated though!

I agree, I don't think I would ever go unmounted. I really don't think they take up too much space. I have all mine stacked up on a book case. I agree with them being comfortable to hold and easy to clean and what not. Time saver in my eyes. I have heard the clear stamps only tend to work well with some inks and I think that I would squish mine too hard and blur the image. I'll stick with wood!

I like the woods mounted stamps. I get cleaner images, and a lot less ink on my fingers! Also it is a lot faster process to grab a wood stamp ink and stamp.

I love my wood mounted stamps! I would never use anything but wood mounted. I've been stamping for almost 9 years and have about 350+ SU stamp sets. But even if storage were a problem I won't even consider going unmounted.

I like wood-mounted stamps, but I don't have any unmounted, so really can't compare. I started stamping years ago and then stopped for several years. At the time I started, unmounted stamps were either very rare or unavailable.

Just this evening I was seriously considering buying a set of unmounteds from Oxford Impressions. I'd have to buy the EZ mount, the scissors, etc., so it looks like a deferred purchase, LOL!

as far as wood mounted being "more expensive" i'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for.
i too enjoy the convenience of picking up a stamp from a set, using it and not having to clean it right away to stamp something else. Just my opinion.

Honestly, I do prefer the wood mounted stamps but this weekend, I unmounted all of my 300+ sets of SU stamps. You wouldn't believe the storage space I've saved and my space is limited. For obvious reasons, I couldn't unmount the larger stamps I had but I did well over 90% of them. I have at least 100+ sets of other unmounted stamps too that came that way. My unmounted SU stamps are now stored the same way as my other stamps and so far, it's not bothering me much. One thing I did note while unmounting them is how similar the styles are from year to year and how versatile I can be with mixing and matching so I'm looking forward to that. They're much easier to find now and I know I'll be using them more because before, I couldn't see them all stored away behind each other.

I much prefer wood mounted and will never unmount! I've been stamping since 1996 and have more than 1,000 SU sets and thousands of wood mounted loose stamps from a variety of other companies. I categorize them by theme and it works well for me!
