Question piercing templates

Can anyone offer any opinion/advice about piercing templates to buy - Ornare or Spellbinders (pierceabilities)?

I want to be able to do the "scrolly" piercing. I really like the look of the spellbinders ones, but I know they had some issues with the first couple runs of the product.
Ornare has lots of templates out there, but do I have to use their tool or with my piercing tool work with them (I think its from Making Memories).

Tell me what you think! Enable me!

Tipsygirl.....I use the Ornare stencils for paper piercng. There are others by Bazill that are plastic, but they are for piercing then sewing wtih thread.

I use the Making Memories piercing tool.

Some of the Ornare stencils are for vellum and do require a much more narrow piercing too. I purchased mine at a stamp show last year.

I love the Ornare stencils since there are so many designs to choose from. Unfortunately, I have to purchase them over the internet or at a stamp show as no store in my area sells them.

The Spellbinders one are great now. They've corrected the problem (which wasn't widespread, as my prototype ones were fine). The thing I like about them is the combination of embossed areas with the pierced ones.

I don't have Ornare ones, but I do have some older ones from American Traditional Designs that I really like, too. I think it is just a matter of preference.

I like the Ornare ones a lot... and just to throw more confusion into the mix, SU! makes some piercing templats part of the brass embossing templates in their catalogues. I think one (or the whole group of them) is called Classy Brass.

I use the ones from Ellen Hutson. Look under ornare and pergamano. I use the regular piercing tool, but some of the templates have such small holes that you really need the special tool. Ellen sells it, and it makes particularly small holes. They look great on vellum, too.

SU does carry the Classy Brass embossing/paper piercing templates. I just recently purchased them, but have not used them yet.

This is my first post, so I hope all goes well with this. Anyway, I didn't have any piercing templates so this is what I did. I created templates by stamping flourishes on vellum, placed the vellum over my cardstock and pierced though it. Perfect piercing! You can use this method with any stamps.

Hi ladies! I just wanted to offer another alternative. Here's a link for free piercing templates that you can download and print out:

I used #003 with a fine Pergamano needle here:

Diane - thank you so much for sharing the link for the templates! I can't really afford $11 or more for the Ornare templates. Now I'll be able to get a similar effect for free!

I just picked up four of the Ornare piercing templates over the weekend at a rubberstamp expo. I like them a lot. I'm also going to take a look at the templates from cookiestamper. How wonderful it is that we all share.
