Question Tombo Mono Aqua Glue

I have been trying to find a good glue for cards that won't warp my paper. I will try the Tombo Multi that I saw highly recommended, but wondered if any of you have tried the Tombo Mono Aqua. It is in a blue container, looks like the Multi, but it is a clear glue instead of white. I tried it and HATE it! It warps like crazy, and I'm afraid the Multi will do the same thing.

Can anybody who has used both give me a comparison? I am not ready for an ATG gun, and don't like spending the money on the tape runners. I was using Fabri Tac, which works great, but it is "stringy" like hot glue. But it doesn't warp at all, so that was good. I've read about Zip Dry, but it looks like the Fabri Tac, and think it will be stringy too.

Thanks!

Sandy

Sandy

I purchased the Tombo (blue) and had the same thing happen! Warped card fronts! Did a little research and started using the Tombo (green) - its PERFECT!

I searched (a while ago) and found a great reference of all kinds of adhesives and which projects they should be used on. When I can find it again.... I'll post!

In the meantime - go green!

I actually use ZIP DRY and it has never yet affected my cardstock. It sticks also!
I buy mine at Michaels with a coupon.

I second the Zip Dry Glue. It's wonderful. I find that all of the Tombow liquid glues warp my paper. So does Mod Podge.

I don't know if this is the site you were thinking of that tells what kind of adhesive to use, but here is one I found:

http://www.thistothat.com

Hope that helps.

I've tried both the Tombow blue and green bottles. Definitely go green!

I bought 10 bottles of glue at the Dollar Tree.

The bottle LOOKs like the green Tombow. But the label says DAP.

The glue dispenses white and dries to "repositionable".

They carry both green and blue bottles if you like the blue.

Does the green perform like the real Tombow glue? Does it warp or ripple cardstock? This would be a great savings if it performs the same! Thanks for sharing!

You need the green multi. That is all I use now and I don't have a warping issue. The blue aqua is horrible! It warps and slides all over the place before setting.

Sandy

I found the DAP for $1.00 recently and bought 2 bottles to try it out. It works the same as the green Tombow Mono and I ended up going back and buying more.

Barbara,

Where did you find it at the Dollar Tree? I went tonight, but could not locate it. Maybe my store doesn't carry it. Boo!

Hi Michelle,

Same question to you......where did you find the DAP glue at the Dollar Tree? I looked through the whole store and could not locate it. I really want to find this stuff to try out.

Thanks,

Sandy

Spent way too much money trying out glues and getting bad results. Swear by SU' s " Tombow " (green), just wish we could get it in great big refill bottles.

The Tombo Multi is great! The Aqua is great for chipboard and buttons, etc., but it really does warp cardstock!

I have no problem with warping. A small quantity is sufficiant. Dabdab or very thin squiggles.

Default Fabritac

If you thin out your Fabritac with a little Acetone, it won't be stringy. I buy mine at Walmart in the nail polish area. Make sure to get the Acetone, not just plain nail polish remover. The pure Acetone is used for removing fake nail tips so it is a little different than regular nail polish remover.

I am a big fan of the blue Tombow glue. I only use the small end and make sure to use a small line of glue on my papers. it works very well, nothing warped and you could use this glue for a lot of different projects. For instance I glued a magnet to a small tin, let it dry a day and use it since then very often and it sticks on!

I love Beacon's 3-in-1 Advanced glue. It's clear, doesn't wrinkle any paper, sticks WELL.....have gone through several bottles of it. I get it at Hobby Lobby or Joanns.

Has anyone ever tried Perfect Paper Adhesive by US Artquest? This adhesive works wonderfully on paper, just use a VERY thin application. Quoting from the bottle: "Excellent for use as an adhesive for collage, montage, assemblage, decoupage, glazing, handmade paper, sizing, and all arts and crafts." Also quoting: "Ideally used with a slightly dampened brush." For a liquid adhesive, it can't be beat and can be found at Michaels. When I got mine, it was $8.99 for an 8.5 ounce bottle (I used a 40% coupon.) It lasts forever! However, for my regular adhesive, can't do with my ATG.

How about the Glue Glider Gun. Hear it works great and easier to handle then an ATG Gun. I have the ATG 714 and love it.

The favorite liquid adhesive of my weekly card group is Sctoch 3M quick-dry adhesive.
You can get it in the SCRAPBOOKING section of Michael's. Use your coupon. It's not on the aisle with the other adhesives. They moved it to the scrapbooking section. Use VERY thin lines of it. It will last forever. I promise that it takes very little!

I sure wish I had looked here before buying the Tombow Aqua. I didn't realize there was a difference except for whether or not it was repositionable. Yikes does it warp. I have never seen anything like it. Not event the Elmer's glue stick is this bad. I will try the thin line idea but this is my last bottle ever of this stuff.

I was looking for something that would stick forever. I made a bunch of cards and put them in my file for future use and less than a year later they were all falling apart. I sure hope I don't have to redo all my scrapbooks as time goes along.

I will try the 3-M and see how it goes. As well as the Dollar Tree option. Thanks for the advice.

I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE the "Aqua" glue with the blue cap. Tried it for a studio class project a few years ago, and it's SUCH a mess to use. Oozes everywhere, even right out of the bottle when it's just lying uncapped on the table! Total nightmare.

I recently found out another good thing about the 3M Quick Dry Glue. It works on vellum. The trick is to put a tiny dot onto your fingertip and rub off most of it onto scrap paper. Rub a little on the vellum, and if you used a small enough amount you won't see it.
I've tried the vellum glue, the vellum adhesive that is a sheet of tiny glue dots, vellum tape, and none of them work as well as the Scotch 3M Quick Dry Glue. Some of my friends have had an occasional problem with the tip clogging up, and remedy this by keeping a partially-straightened paper clip twisted around the neck of the bottle (to always have it handy), and push the end of the paperclip in to clear any clogs. A couple have had the whole tip "blow out" when there is a clog and they were squeezing the bottle. I've never had this happen. I think it might be because I always recap the bottle immediately, plus, I keep the bottle on its side between "squirts". Also, if I do get a clog, I clear it instead of taking the chance on blowing the tip off and ruining my work.

The trick to this adhesive is to use such a tiny line of it that it is almost invisible. I apply it about 1/8 in. from the edge of whatever I'm gluing, so if there is any ooze, it doesn't go past the edge of the paper, and doesn't show. I LOVE this glue. It just about all I ever use. I use my coupons and get it at Michael's. HOWEVER, it is no longer on the glue aisle, but on the scrapbook aisle, with all the scrapbook glues. I am sad to say that I have a basket of unused glues because I tried 'em all, looking for the perfect adhesive. This is as good as it gets, IMO! Good luck!
