Scented embossing powder?

I saw some scented embossing powder over at Addicted to Scrapbooking - first time I have seen that. Does it really smell like they say it does? Any reviews? TIA!

I have used the bubblegum scented embossing powder and I loved it. I used gellypowder by gelatinstamps. It smells like bazooka bubblegum (am I dating myself? )lol. I tried doing the whole koolaid mixed with embossing powder and found it just left a mess. No matter what combo or ratio I used it just made a mess once you scratched it to sniff and the scent wore off very quickly. So when I saw the scented EB I had to give it a try. I will definately be buying more. I saw a pine scent I wish I had picked up at Christmas time. Hopefully I will run across it again before next Christmas. BTW the bubble gum says the scent will last up to three weeks but the card I made the begining of January still smells like bubblegum.

I have the pine scented one. They say the scent lasts about 2 weeks.

AND chocolate scented .... loverly... though the scent does wear off so if you are sending it to someone because of the scent you want to wait until nearly the time to do the card.

I have chocolate and coffee from Cornish. I agree that the scent wears off, so don't keep them hanging around. I love the coffee one on my coffee cards.

I have the chocolate, coffee, and vanilla foam latte (at least that's what I think it's called) from GelATins. I love the scents BUT... the first time I tried using it with a regular versamark pad, I had issues where the powder didn't stick and appeared very grainy. I had MUCH better luck using a versamark pen, however. I didn't try it with pigment ink, however. Next step.

Did anyone else have these problems or am I just incompetent? LOL!

I got my scents (bubblegum, lilac, cherry on top, cup of java, and coffee) from RitzCamera.com. They always have 20% off sales so if it's not in stock this month then by next month it may be cheaper. Amazon.com also has them so compare prices.

I've only done one card with cherry on top and I couldn't stop sniffing it but I don't have anyone to send it to so I won't be making any more with scent until i know it will go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I do.

I used emboss-it pad and it worked great. I find it works better than versamark even though versa says it will work with embossing powder. It just does not seem as thick or tacky as the emboss-it.

mmmm, scented embossing powder? that sounds great. about how much does a jar cost? and also, are they clear but scented... or is like coffee scent a brown powder, cherry scent is red etc?
i am so curious, this sounds awesome

The Gel-a-tins ones are colored and the color is based on what scent they are. They're $5.39 a jar here.

The ones I have seen ,gellypowder, are tinted. the bubblegum was pink , pine was green, coffee -brown, etc.

I wonder if you placed the card in a plastic ziploc or cellophane bag if it would hold the scent? I've never heard of the scented EP but, now my curiosity is peaked. I think I shall have to get me some.

Glad to hear this; got all of the stuff to do this, but sounds like I'd do well just to save myself the mess! TFS your experience.

I've also tried the car air fresheners. I didn't like working with the oily stuff; it didn't work w/regular punches and I wasn't sure what kind of effect it would have on my dies (esp that finish on nestabilities). Besides, they're always printed so that was hard to work in.

I also have tried the powders from gel-a-tins. They had a wonderful aroma when you smell them dry. However, once they are applied I didn't notice much scent at all. I asked my friend about the chocolate EP I used in a card I sent to her - she said she didn't smell anything and would not have noticed anything if I hadn't asked. Don't know if others have had this problem or not.

I did mine quite some time ago (couple of months) and it still smells of bubblegum but I did store it in a clear plastic envelope.

I took a car freshener (the cardboard kind) and stored it with some paper to see what happened. Great results! The paper still smells like that melon freshener months after I did it. So, you can make punch art or small stamped images and store them for a few days in a bag with one and then make your cards and apply them. I also heard that you can punch that kind of freshener with your punches and then layer paper on top to make a nice smelly card. I haven't tried it yet, but I will. Someday. When everything lines up right so that I have time to myself again....

Great suggestions, forever_amber! May I ask a question: when you stored the air freshener with your paper, how did you prevent the paper from absorbing the oil? Didn't that oil soak from the freshener onto your paper both with the stored paper and the paper sandwiching the freshener (guess you wouldn't know that one since you haven't tried it yet, huh)? Thanks for the ideas; I'll definitely be trying them.

I didn't have a problem w/ any oils at all, but here's a suggestion: Put the freshener in an open snack size zipper bag, then place it and the paper in a closed gallon zipper bag. They won't touch that way. And, even an old freshener smells a bit when it's under your nose, right? So if you maybe punched the older ones for the cards there would be less oil present?
