Default Cat Stamps. Opinions please.

If you're a cat lover and love cat stamps, I'd appreciate your input.
What do you look for in a cat stamp? Do you go for realism over cartoons?
I always see people posting that they'd like SU to put out a good cat set, but I haven't seen anyone getting very excited about the few cats SU has put out recently. Mostly I've seen comments about them being too childish? Can a cat stamp be cartoony without being childish? What would a good cat stamp set look like to you?

I have both realistic and cartoony cat stamps. My taste runs toward the whimsical. TAC has a new cat set with one cat as an artist, one in a roaring 20's get up, etc. That's the stuff I enjoy.

Happy Valentines Day! I also tend to go for the whimsy kitty stamps I am a huge lover of all the Penny Black cat stamps. I have an older SU cat set that I really like but mostly have the PB stamps.

I'm an equal opportunity cat stamp lover! I have the whimsical like Fluffles (love him/her), the realistic (some adorable Stampendous...I think), to the stylish (Cool Cat). I think if you were going to create a cat stamp set, it would also be nice to have some "cat sayings." I can see a cat looking down in disdain and saying something like, "Did you really think I was going to come when you called?" or other things that a cat might say. Our cat is such a diva that my daughter claims the cat only speaks French so when she ignores us, it's really a 2nd language issue.

I love more whimisical over realistic also - my favs are Fluffles (cartoony for sure) and Sprinkle (has a classy retro touch) that were mentioned but I fell in LOVE with Kiki Kitty made by the Pink Cat Studio! So cute and versatile - it is cartoony too but the lines are clean and simple! 7CollegeKids sells them! Adorable and lots of images.

You're so generous. When our cat ignores us, we make all kinds of mean jokes about how he's just plain stupid.

Stylish brush drawings or Asian-style brush drawings would be good--but not "Hello Kitty" style. More elegant.

Realistic is good, just don't have too MUCH detail--don't want to spend all day coloring it in. Cartoonish or whimsical are fine, too. Fluffles is ADORABLE.

Whether realistic or whimsical, my biggest complaint is cats that are not drawn well-- with parts of their bodies that are out of proportion (of course, cats like Fluffles are exceptions). I want cats in cute positions--what I call "upside down kitty head"--where they are laying down with their heads kind of upside down; on their backs with their four legs splayed in the air; casually draped with one front paw hanging off the edge of the chair or sofa; peeking out from under a pile of laundry; with their rear-end in the air, looking ready to pounce; two curled up together asleep.

Sets should have several cats in different positions or with varied expressions. We have enough paw prints, fish bones, and enough stamps that say "Meow." They all look the same.

Give us some cats with personality or variety. I agree with SampingShawn--get a little more creative with the sentiments. Just observe cats. With body language they say "come play with me," "feed me NOW," "touch me and you die," "aren't I cute?", "I need to cuddle," "I am Queen/King of the world," "you're boring me," "I am the greatest hunter of all time," "what the heck was that noise?"

Cats are sleek and stylish, fluffy and chunky, scruffy and lean, pampered, goofy.

Okay, I'll step down off my soapbox (or kitty condo) for now.

lmao!

I love fluffles too, but I'd love to have some real looking cats in my collection. As it is, I just color the fluffles to look like Siamese cats, of which I have 2.

I'm a cat lover too (note Avatar!). In my gallery (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...00&ppuser=5050) is a set of cards I made for another cat-loving friend,
with cat sayings on them. There's also a lovely big 'cat faces' stamp by ? Expression Obsession (something like that anyway). It is very versatile, either as a whole image or cutting up the image into individual faces and adding sentiment, and the images are realistic too. I also have a list of cat card sentiments I find very useful (computer generate them for cards).
I like line drawing cats most, not cutesy, except for Fluffles.
Looking forward to other links on this subject.

I have been a collector of Kliban rubber stamps for years, and they are my favorites. I used to buy them from American Art Stamps, but you can't get them there any more. I have seen some for sale on E-bay; however, the prices are outrageous!

I had never seen these before. Just looked them up on e-bay and you're right . . . a lot of $. I can see why people want them though.

I too am a cat lover....my cats rule the household...we tease how they own the house and allow us to feed them and pay the mortgage! and what would a cat be if they didn't love us and ignore us on their schedule!

I have all sorts of cat stamps - mostly whimsical...love the Penny Black cats in all their variety...and any that I find....but this one that I used here just seems to capture their personalities!

I love cat stamps and have quite a collection of the Kliban ones. Hmmmm.

Anyways, I like them cute and whimsical or more realistic.

Priscilla from Odd Bird Planet is adorable and comes in various costumes. So are the Intertwined kitties.

Sprinkle from the Cats' Pajamas is a favorite.

Onyx Expressions has some rather elegant more realistic cats.

Third Coast has some winged cats that I've been itching to get.

I have a few by a newer company, who also does dog stamps. I don't recall the name and am too lazy to go look. Sorry.

I love cats and cat stamps. Actually, Buggainok (the poster before me) gave me my first cat stamp (thanks again Annette!). I really like the style of the stamp she gave me. I really like the pink cat studio line as well. Here's the first card I made with the stamp from Buggainok here

We have a new stamp company here in the UK, Wild Rose Studio, and they have some cute kitty stamps. I took a peek online but talked myself out of placing an order. Then I went to my LSS and there they were, hanging up - so then I couldn't resist and I had to buy Cat in Garden!

I also love the Penny Black cute cats too - well nearly all of the PB cute critters!

Stamps Happen make some great cat stamps too.

OnyxXpressions offers a number of cat images in the Nature Theme Collection. There are brushstroke cats, outline cats, realistic cats, cats with attitude and the newest release would best be described as "cat's antics. You can see all of them at this link:

Cheryl--
You are right---there are wonderful cat images at OnyxXpressions! I'm having a bit of a problem navigating the site (and finding the angel policy and the shipping costs), though. I think I'd be interested, if I could find this information. The brushstroke cats are especially nice.

I am a cat lover, have two - Memphis & Neil Diamond! I like both the whimsical and more realistic stamps, depends on what I want to use it for, so it's nice to have options. Jessicalynnoriginal.com has both styles. I used a stamp from the Spring Cat set for SC159 and think it's one of the best cards I've made.

I am a cat lover and bunny lover too!

In reality if a stamp has a cat on it, or the word 'purr' or 'meow' or the word 'cat' I would generally buy it!

In an ideal world I love both whimsical and realistic. If the cats look like my cats so much the better! I bought a cat stamp off ebay years ago. I couldn't see the detail very well but it was a cat so I bought it. When I received it and stamped an image I noticed the cat had a collar on and a tag that says Tom. It was a tabby cat. I have a tabby cat called Tom so it was fantastic-I was so thrilled and it's still one of my favourites.

In the Uk we've had no animal sets-something I moan about ad nauseum! I have the bunny ones like Beatrix potter-'Birthday Bunnies' and 'Somebody new' and something akin to Tom Kitten would be perfect!

I don't like really cartoony ones and not usually keen on them wearing clothes to be honest. They're animals after all.

Purrs and Pants is a super site for both cat and dog stamps. Trish sells them both wood mounted and bare rubber. I've purchased almost all she offers. They are in various situations and are realistic looking animals. Not cartoon like. The detail is amazing for the features. There are stamps with just dogs, just cats and some with both dogs and cats.

I like Fluffles and the stamps from Purrs & Pants. I would love to see some new pet stamps from SU.

Does Purrs and Pants have an online store? I've never heard of them. A link would be helpful if you have one? Thanks.

I'm a cat stamp collector and adore Paula Best, Gary Patterson, Charles Wysocki, Patience Brewster, Laurel Burch and Linnea Design cat stamps. Unfortunately, with the exception of Paula Best and Gary Patterson, I can only find the others on E-bay.

Here are a few of the easier to find ones:
