Question Looking for good metallic pencils?

SU! used to have a set of metallic pencils, I think they retired them a few catalogs ago. I'd like a good quality set, any recommendations on brand or where I can find them?

TIA!

Prisma has a set of metallics. I cannot vouch for how good they are as mine are still unsharpened since I bought them last weekend.

Thanks. Are they carried by craft stores such as Michael's or AC Moore?

I bought them at Aaron Brothers Framing and Art store which is owned by Michaels. My store is going out of business, so they were 75% off.

I don't know if Michael's carries them, but I would assume so since they carry other Prisma pencils.

Great, thanks so much! I couldn't find the metallics on the Michael's website, which is why I asked. And I was just in the same plaza where Michael's is in my area, and I didn't think of going in to look.

I have the SU! ones that I'd be more than happy to send you. I've had them for several years and used them once.

PM me your address and I'll get them out to you in the next couple of days.

For anyone else who's looking for these -

I believe that Prisma discontinued their set; I got mine at a Staples couple of years ago; I still saw them there a month or so ago, but I think they just had some old stock. I know the numbers that match to the metallic colors aren't listed on Prismacolor's website anymore.

Dick Blick has a set by Derwent (HERE) that I also have and I can't tell the difference between coloring with these and coloring with the Prismas. I am NOT, however, an artist by any definition of the word. Someone who knows better might think differently.

I also have a set that I got at Hobby Lobby that's only 5 or 6 pencils. I don't remember the brand, but they are bigger around than a regular pencil; those work pretty well too.

Rose art also makes metallic pencils and they seem to work well for me. I got them at Micheal's, but they are on the Crayola isle.

I bought mine on the buy/sell forum. I've also seen them on ebay.

Sue, that is so generous! The lady I bought mine from was like you, she didn't use them often.
