Here's a link to some more! I just converted over to the basket system, it works so nicely. She sorted hers by manufacturer but I decided to sort mine by color. I never knew I had so much pink ribbon!

I have two of these lazy susans from Oriental Trading. It doesn't hold all of my ribbon, but I like it for the most part. The only pet peeve is the decorative knob at the top has to be removed to put the spool on or take it off.

I saw this too and liked it but I made my own for half the price I went and bought the platform for 4.49 at walmart and a dowel for .48 and my DH drilled holes and we glued the dowel in. $5 later I have a better ribbon storage. I used to keep the spools in a craft bag organizer thing but I wanted it out to see..what colors I have etc.

I bought the baskets from The Container Store like this person's scraproom. This is a link I saved from someone that is a member here can't remember her name though but I love her room. I bought the baskets today and just set it up tonight. I have alot of the May Arts huge rolls which don't fit in the regular size baskets just the large baskets which I bought 2 for the bottom like she did. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.a...out_id=1277289 The smaller baskets are nice for rolls like Paper Treys or Michaels which i take my Michaels ones off and put on cardboard and store them in drawers. So when I move to my larger scraproom after my daughter moves out i am going to get another one but have just large baskets instead of smaller ones. I got mine to hang off my door but will be putting the next one on the wall and have 2 side by side at some point.

I use a long wooden dowel - put the dowel through the hole in the middle of the cardboard. All my ribbons are together.

A friend cut two 16" circles of plywood ( one heavy and one light) for me and I laid eight spools around the circles to space where I wanted my dowels we then marked the holes in the centers of the spools ( fits 8 spools) . We drilled holes through both layers of plywood. I bought a small kitchen turntable hardware from the hardware store and mounted it on the bottom of the heavy plywood. Placed dowelling in the holes of the heavy piece of plywood and glued. The lighter piece of plywood is to put over the top of the dowelling to prevent the dowels from swaying this piece is not glued as you need to remove it to add ribbon spools. I have a large ribbon collection so I left the dowels the full length. Storing them up right prevents the spools from gathering dust on the ribbons.

I bought some plastic "cards" to wrap the ribbon around (they were cheap--Hobby Lobby by the storage stuff) then sorted them by color and put them in some drawers from WalMart like the Amazing Paper Grace lady. It is nice because I can pull out a drawer by color and set it on my desk to find the right ribbon for my project.

I use the Clear shoe holders that hang on the back of the door. It holds several rolls of ribbon in each pocket. Plus, with the shoe holders being clear, you can see the colors really well. I have the ribbon separated in the pockets by color and have them hanging on the front door of my cabinets, so it makes it easy to see exactly what color I'm needing while I'm creating. Plus it also helps to see what colors I'm low on, so when I'm go to the craft store, I can pick up what I need.

Wow, somebody popped in and asked me about this and how it was working. Still working great and I'm not having trouble with kinks in the ribbon. I suppose I would if it were a delicate type but on the stuff I have stored, this is working out just fine!!

I have tried every kind of ribbon storage you can think of. I I finally found something that works for me and I would love to share it. My husband had a section of plastic rain gutter that was just the right size to line up spools of ribbon. I put it on the window sill and lined up all of my ribbon standing up on edge with the end of the ribbon hanging over the edge of the gutter. It works perfect and my ribbon spools don't unwind. I can get a picture and put it on if anyoen is interested.

I found a way to wrap ribbon where it will take up very little space and can be stored tidy in a rubber maid or zip lock bags. Love when I can recycle

I had all my SU ribbon in the magnetic spice tins and they attached to a piece of flat metal and hung on the wall.

Recently I got the ribbon organizer from Organize More! and it worked out great for all my Papertrey ribbon. And I also got the regular shelf unit from Organize More and put my magnetic spice tins on the shelves in stacks of two. On the spice tins, there's a slot for you to feed a small end of the ribbon out and slide the lid over it so it stays in place - so with that little bit I can see what's in the tins, and it doesn't tempt the kitties!

If I become uncontrollably tempted by more ribbon (someone recently posted about Ribbon Retreat and .... I looked), I'm considering the Ribbon Ring, although the no-kitty spot for it is yet to be determined

I hope I can explain this in a way that makes sense. Sometimes I give the banana nut bread recipe and forget to include the bananas, kwim? lol

Anyway, after a year of digging through drawers to find knotted ribbon inside, I gave up and made up solution. I purchased 2 in. binder rings from Office Depot and sorted all of my ribbon by color. Then, I removed the ribbon from the spool and placed it on the ring. For 1 in or less wide ribbon, I simply tied one end to the ring. For anything more than 1 in, I punched a hole in the top of the ribbon and thread it through the binder ring. I sorted them by color and was surprised that 1 ring would take an entire color. After everything was sorted and tied and hole punched (it took around 2 days), I put thumbtacks in my wall and hung the rings on there right next to my work area so that I can always see what I have and what I want to use. (Which, truthfully, my "work area" is my dining room table and I keep all my supplies in plastic carts in the dining room. lol)
So, while 185 + (I lost count after that but it's not much more) spools of hanging ribbon is not the classiest of home decor, it works for me! lol I'd take a picture but I'm in between cameras (DH sold the old one on ebay & still haven't got the new one yet.)

PS - I just read the above posta bout the ribbon ring & I never heard of such a thing! lol I guess I made my own "ghetto" ribbon ring! lol A box of the rings cost me less than $3 and I still have plenty left so I guess it was a steal! lol Good luck!

My husband built my desk with shelves a little less than a year ago and another ribbon storage rack for Christmas this year so it is all custom built for my ribbon (like my Christmas one is sized for my PTI ribbon spools). Then, I store my loose ribbon on Cropper Hopper ribbon cards in my Crop in Style drawers (one of the four drawer cubes fits the ribbon cards perfectly).

Wow - I just checked out Becca's system and it's really impressive. I use those plastic storage drawer units for *everything* (except ribbon!) !!

Now, if I ever decide to go nuts for ribbon, I know how to store it LOL!! I've always been able to restrain myself .... so far. This storage system is definitely enabling me though

I use a plastic craft storage box that has 18 compartments and paper bobbins that I've wrapped my ribbons around. I can fit about 6 full bobbins in each compartment and see all my ribbons at a glance.

At this stage (early) I'm using a Sterlite shoe box that I keep on a shelf above my work area. But it's getting full, so I'm going to have to get a lot more creative. Love the ideas here!
