Adhering Rhinestones to Cardstock
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting tiny rhinestones adhered to cardstock. I can't find glue dots small enough and cutting them is a big pain. How do y'all do this? Thanks in advance!

Hi Lisa,
When it comes to the little blings, I always use a toothpick, reaching into the Crystal Effects or Glossy Accents bottle. I bring out just a tiny amount of the glaze, apply it to the just-right spot on the project, then use tweezers to precisely apply the little gem. Toothpicks are so cheap, and I keep a box in my stampin' zone for "little" stuff like this.

I use a glue pen & touch it to the paper where I want the rhinestone. I lick my finger to pick up the tiny rhinestone. I think using a toothpick might be easier!

I like the toothpick idea as well. I will have to give that a try. I have always used tweezers to pick up the stones. I learned that way when I was putting them on my fingernails. But the polish held it on then. For paper I use the glue pen. Super easy.

I love, love, love this adhesive named "Gloo"...it is made by KI Memories and I have had the same bottle for years...it is a clear dimesional adhesive and what makes it so great is the tiny tip applicator...I use if for my rhineshones and it is wonderful...they stay put...a must have in my craft supplies...here is a link:

I like to use a glue called Aleene's Jewel It. It's made for adhering stones to fabric, but whew! it sure works fine on cardstock, too. I make a dot of glue on scrap paper, then either use a toothpick to transfer a bit to the back of the stone, or sometimes tweezers to hold the stone and touch the back to the glue. They never fall off. (They stayed on through many washings on fabric-that's tough glue!)

I never thought of using a toothpick, just the tweezers. I'll have to try that.

I've always used a toothpick too for all those little jobs, just like this.
Also very handy when trying to glitter very small areas.

Thanks for the info!!!
Thanks everyone, for the awesome info. I have crystal effects (which has been unopened for over a year), but I'm thinking I might need to do some shopping...

Lisa! Open your crystal effects and get busy! There are so many neat things to do with it and you don't have to spend $ $ for something else. I made the Cat's Meow card for my ggdtr and used the crystal effects on the finished fish bowl. Voila instant dimension, texture and bling. A very small pinch of dax dia made it sparkle. Crystal effects on the ornaments on the only ornments wheel -- again dimension and texture. A small drop on stipple rose and instant dewdrops. It takes a little practice but it is a great item to have at hand when you are stamping. Besides being great for sticking rhinestones.

I pick them up with a crayon. Place your rhinestone face-up on your table. Touch the tip of a crayon to it. When you place your rhinestone on your paper, it should release just fine.
I have a bunch of other tips on my blog here. http://scrapjanny.typepad.com/my_cra...you-money.html

I use hotfix rhinestones with the magic heat wand. I got them on ebay and they have lots of colors. I will not mess with glue again.

Another vote for Crafter's Glue The Ultimate and/or Glossy Accents/Diamond Glaze. And for the toothpick. May have to try to crayon idea - sometimes when I pick up the tinier rhinestones with tweezers, they go flying off into outer space never to be seen again.
But my favorites are the flat-back rhinestones you get at Mike's, 6 strips in a pack - 3 different sizes, with adhesive already on them. They are adhered with a long strip of adhesive, but I just cut the plastic liner between them and lift them off with tweezers. I buy the clear ones, and if I need a different color, just color them with the Bic Markits or Sharpies before I remove them from the liner. Mike's has these flat-backs in pearls, gold and silver gems. I have also purchased a package at Walmart - 4 circles of clear rhinestones (all the same size and again adhered together) and cut them apart also.
The more I think about the crayon idea, the more I like it. I have some clear wax crayons to be used as a resist - now if I could just find 'em!

These are the kind I use also. I have even purchased the 'words' and flowers made from these to get different colored stones, but I never use the full word. I just cut off the ones I want.
I like the idea of coloring them with markers. I'm going to try that!

Here's a hint for picking up the rhinestones. I use a dentist's tool (my dentist has a "graveyard" of old tools that he let me go through and pick what I wanted.) On the tip I put a little bit of the stuff we in California use to stick china to our shelves in case of earthquakes. I think the erasers that can be kneaded and re-kneaded (sorry, I don't know what they're called) can be used too. There's just enough "stick" to pick up rhinestones and still have them fall off onto the glue.

I generally prefer to use flat-back rhinestones with adhesive already on it. I use my pergamano tpricking tool (Like a pin with a long handle) to pick up the gem and transfer it to the location of my choice> At a pinch I would use a peral headed pin or even the tip of my craft knife to pick up the adhesive backed rhinestone. When there is no adhesive on the back then I use a kebab stick with either a "Blu Tak" on it or a blob of tacky Zig (or Sailor Ball or Off & on) glue on it to actually pick it up. To adhere it I use the Sailor Ball glue pen to put a dab of glue on the back and the place it in the location.
I use the tacky kebab stick to pick up all my tiny buttons, brads etc

Get out! What a clever idea - I have got to start thinking out of the box with bling. TFS!

Picking up rhinestones
Slightly off the topic, but several people mentioned different ways to pick up the rhinestone to drop it onto the dot of glue. I've used something very similar to the Picksey PickUps that Outlines Rubber Stamps sells. I can't remember where I got the original product, but it was a little stick, like a really small popsicle stick, with a little ball of wax on the end - the jewel sticks to the wax temporarily but adheres to the glue when you place it. They're very handy, and for me, much easier to use than tweezers. If anyone uses these or knows where I can get them please let me know. If not I think I'll try the Picksey PickUps. Looks like it works on the same principal.
Thanks!

I second this motion. It's so easy to use the heat wand and but a zillion stones off of ebay for like 10 bucks. Easiest way for me.
