I know there are so many talented people that are doing wonderful things with this. SOOOO - I have one design that was shared with me for a pillow box (although, I can't remember who or where), that I was able to save in my cricut file. Does anyone else have some great designs they would like to share with this community? I know I would greatly appreciate it as I am just starting!
Great idea...I am just learning how to use the DS software and haven't unleashed its power yet so here are a few sites that I get .cut files from. They are nice enough to share their creations for free. Click on links to check out the websites! Enjoy!
- Capadia Designs
- Cricut Soft Cuts
- Okieladybugs Scrap n' More
- Susan Blue Robot
I have had it for a solid year and have not used it. I tried to install it on my laptop and it wont work. I called support and they told me I need to call them when I have my laptop and an internet connection. I work every weekday and I cant bring my laptop here so I am just stuck. I hope you all love the Design Studio!
Blessings.
I do not have a Cricut but my DD does. I wandered upon a blog that has a list of over 40 blogs w/ free cut files listed. Anyway, not knowing what I was looking at, ;), I gave DD the URL.
Here it is: everythingcricut.blogspot.com

Has anyone else had the following problem: I bought Design Studio and my husband installed it on his laptop to get the experience of how it worked. So now he bought me my own PC so that I will not screw up his laptop. We find that you cannot transfer the program to any other machine. We are not interested in keeping the program on the laptop, so we would not be double dipping. We were totally unaware of this restriction. Obviously, many people are going to buy new computers. I can't believe that Provocraft expects me to buy a new program when I change computers? How do the rest of you feel about this, and has anyone else solved this problem.
I am not a computer expert, so the solution can't be too involved. Thanks

Reason: to add info
I am not sure I can retrieve the response to my question, above. My email address is: [email protected]. I really would appreciate some input on this Design Studio business. I would think other potential buyers of the program would be concerned about the fact that you are forever locked into one computer .

Nope. They don't want you to use it on more than one computer. If you call ProvoCraft and explain the situation, they can give you another code. Lots of people have had this same problem. It's very frustrating. Good luck with resolving this issue.
Marlene Iacuzzi.....Though the paperwork with the program does not say it, Provo expects it to be put on one computer only. I've known several people that have gotten around this by installing it on another computer. When it asks for the serial number, they have called Provo and explained the situation of changing to a different computer and were given a new number.
I decided not to go through all that hassel and just purchased a new Design Program so I could have it on both my desktop and laptop computer. (I now have 2 of the same program.)
I may be too late for the poster who wanted the shamrock, but I have been looking for one too....to no avail. I just designed my own. It was super easy! I have had design studio since Aug. 08, and I just installed it today!!
I used the doodlecharms cartridge. There is a heart shape when you hit shift lock and the image directly on top of it to the left side.
It's the bottom shape of the smaller selection buttons
does that make sense?
Anyway, I copied 3 hearts and rotated and welded them to the petal shape I wanted. Then I welded in the butterfly body for the stem. I think it looks pretty good (well, for a newbie anyway)!
Give it a try~

Thanks!!! It was the stem I was having trouble with and I will now definitely give this a try!!
When I called Provo Craft for a second code she said they are not allowed to give out second codes under any circumstances. She said to download the free trial ware on whatever other computer you needed the program on. You can save whatever files you design and use them on the computer with the registered code. This made perfect sense to me. I felt a little silly for asking for a second code. There's so much software pirating out there now, I don't blame them for having the restrictions.
I LOVE Design Studio and Cricut. You never have to spend money on chip board embellishments again.

I've heard many people say that they called Provocraft and didn't ask for a second code, but explained they wanted to take it off their laptop and put it on their desktop and someone from Provocraft told them how to uninstall it from the laptop and then install it on the desktop and gave them a new code.
It might be worth another try, because the trial version is great for designing but you will have to use your hubby's laptop to cut anything out. The trial version only cuts with the cartridge that came with your machine.
I so agree that it may be worth calling them again. I had installed mine on my laptop and then it crashed...opps. It took a little time but they did help me reinstall on my new computer. I love DS...I think I only use the key pad to load and unload. The other great thing is I can create designs no matter where I'm at. Also I had to have letter welding. Good luck and happy cutting.
