How have you used Liquid Pearls??
I saw Liquid Pearls in different colors on a website...and thought they would be fun to use. How have some of you used them? LM

I bought a couple bottles and tried using them. I was not happy with my results. Instead of ending up rounded, I ended up with little Hersey Kiss shaped things. What was I doing wrong?

I JUST used them on some holiday cards!
Bought the white. Get out your glossy paper. Take a softer cotton ball (I've had better luck with that vs. sponges, although a sponge could work). Apply a VERY small amount to your cotton ball and 'swirl' on your paper. It should be 'spotty'-------(it really is working to 'resist' color).
Next, get out your ink refill of the color you want to use, and so the same as above. You'll immediately see the background you are creating.
Set aside for a couple hours to 'dry.'
I used a border blue ink, and then stamped the church from
the SU Silent Night set in the middle of the background I created.
Use Black Staz-On ink.
LOOKS LOVELY!!!
Did the same above and stamped a larger sailboat -----terrific mens cards!!
Good luck!

Whoops.........meant to comment about 'other colors.'
I did buy a few others but haven't liked/used much.
I find it easier to start with the white and manage the 'color' with my ink refills. That will be enough color-------it's meant to create a suble background.

Oh, you mean the Madonna cone boobs?
I hate when that happens!!!
In all seriousness, here's how to eliminated that effect:
After applying the LP, grasp the card firmly in one hand, and "flick" or "thump" the paper from underneath with your other hand. This will cause the pointed loft to "fall" and spread out more like a pearl shape, instead of conical.

All of your posts have been really interesting. For some reason, I thought this "stuff" was to give a pearlescent look...but it sounds like this ends up looking like pearls. Amazing! LM

Your description is much more colorful than mine, but then I often have chocolate on the brain.
Thanks for all the tips, ladies. Now I have to practice.

I've used the LP as flower centers, and also as accents in a similar way to using stickles.

instead of paying for liquid pearls, try scribbles brand iridescent 3d fabric paint. it's just an acrylic and i'm almost positive it's okay to use for archival purposes. it works the exact same way, but a lot cheaper and you can pick it up at the craft store.

I don't have a photo but I used a pink shade (raspberry?) to frost a cupcake image. I liked the dimensional, matte finish it gave to the cupcake.

I love them, think I have all the colours except the bright green which I couldn't imagine ever using.
LOL at JulieHRR's description of the pointed tip!!
Just a suggestion - if you're using them to go round a frame or something, do a couple of drops on a little piece of scrap paper. Put your proper card part well out of the way so you don't smudge them accidentally before they're dry. This is too easy to do, and because they're like acrylic, they'll leave a little pearly smear on the paper which you can't get rid of. And to check how the drying is going, you can try testing your little scrap of paper. Because they do take up to an hour to be touch dry, and I wouldn't put them in an envelope till the following day.
They're great for dots in scallop edges, round an oval or circle, in the centres of flowers, for going over a plain flourish...dots and a little flourish in corners...

I use them mostly as dots. The trick is to slightly swirl the bottle when applying. Either that, or lightly tap the backside of the paper to get the tip of the dot to settle.
Hope that makes sense!

great tips here - i have all of the colors and do like to use them. i use them alot for dots, flower centers, etc like stickles but i also use them as frosting which looks awesome.
another great way to use them is as a paint with a paintbrush - gives a nice shimmer! also squirt some out onto a sponge and pounce on white cardstock randomly. repeat with a second color. i have many examples on my blog....
