TLC193 Decorative Circle Medallion 11/3/08
Today's technique is one that I'm sure you will find tons of creative uses for. I first saw THIS CARD in the gallery, made by Becca Stamps, and knew that it was something I had to try. Becca has the most easy-to-follow video tutorial that will easily guide you step-by-step to create your own wonderful Medallion card with just a few supplies. To view this tutorial, CLICK HERE. Thank you Becca for sharing this wonderful technique with us!
Becca is really getting lots of attention with her unique style. She was yesterday's Featured Stamper, and what a fantastic gallery she has.
For those of you on dial-up or just have problems viewing videos, I've attached a picture, which I hope will make the instructions clear. Just let me know if you have questions.
For this week's challenge you will need:
Cardstock
Circle Cutter (Nestabilities - coluzzle, or other larger circle cutter)
Decorative Corner Punch (corner guide removed-this is an important step)
Pencil
Text weight paper (for pattern) - Step 1: Using your nestabilities or coluzzle, cut two circles, one from your scrap paper (for your template) and another from the cardstock you want to use for your medallion. On my coluzzle, I've colored each line to make it easier for me to see when I'm cutting. For this project, I used the brown line (see arrow), which is the 6th circle from the center.
- Step 2: Using your scrap paper circle, fold it in half four times, creating a pie (see picture)
- Step 3: Again, using your template, mark your lines onto the back side of your cardstock
- Step 4: Using your lines as a guide, punch your decorative corner punch in between each line, watching as you punch so that there is a small space between each punch. If you overlap your punches, your design will look a little funny. If there is too much space, you can always use your snips to remove any unwanted cardstock.
- Step 5: Decorate and complete your card as desired.
Be use to use the keyword TLC193 (no spaces) when you upload your card.
You may view my sample HERE.
To view ALL the cards using this technique, click HERE.

SUPPLIES FOR NEXT WEEK: Cardstock or patterned paper, bone folder, tacky tape

Thank you for this easy one for me
Hi Lynn, I was looking at your explanations and I really think I can do this, it's a visual I needed and your picture is perfect, the fact that you used blue didn't influence me at all, though blue is my favorite color your know.
I need a bunch of Christmas cards, who doesn't...
Thank you for this challenge Lynn and for being here week after week.
Ooops, forgot to say thanks to Becca, had so much fun caseing her gallery yesterday.

I saw this tutorial a short while back, but ALL my decorative corner punches have built-in corner guides, so I'll sit this one out and just enjoy looking at everybody else's creations. This is one I don't think I can subsititute on, short of hand-cutting, LOL.

WOW Lynn. What a challenge! After looking at Becca's gallery yesterday I was in awe and thought "My goodness. Now THAT's talent!" I'm such a novice at these challenges - and each one is great - so I'm gonna give this a shot (provided all my supplies allow me to).
I think the directions with a picture is FABULOUS! I'm definitely a "show me" person so this helps tons!
Thanks for the great challenge ladies. I'm off to play!

Are you sure they are built-in? Many look like the guides don't come off, but many do.

Very pretty. I hardly ever use my wrought iron corner punch so this should give me a new way to use it. Thanks for the nudge and the tutorial.

I've seen this video before but hadn't yet tried it. But since you challenged us... I only have one corner punch. I had to use my coluzzles - ergh! Hate those things. Can't wait till my circle nesties arrive. So, not as pretty or perfectly round as everyone elses, but at least I tried. Here is my card.
