My daughter is a cheerleader for Junior Pee Wee in our local Pop Warner league. Our team is Hagerty Huskies and their colors are Blue, Silver, and Black.
Create a layout of choice:
1) One that involves your Junior Pee Wee (child)
2) One that involves your cheerleader (or football player)
3) One that involves your ‘Pop’ (Dad)
4) One that involves your Husky (or pet)
Challenge: Use our Team Colors in combination with your layout…blue, silver, and black!
GO HUSKIES!!!!!
Did you know the game of football is based on the game of rugby and it made its North American debut in Canada?
Here's an (edited) exerpt from Wikipedia:
"Football was first introduced to North America in Canada. In 1874, Harvard hosted McGill (Montreal) to play the new game. Many of the differences between the Canadian (CFL) and American (NFL) games came out of this original home and home series where each home team set the rules.
For instance, Harvard, because of a lack of campus space did not have a full-sized field. Theirs was only 100 yards long by 50 yards wide with undersized endzones. To generate more offence, the number of downs was also increased by Harvard to 4 from 3 as set by McGill. Both the Canadian and American games still have some differences..."
Summary - CFL: bigger field, larger endzone, 10 yard 'no mans land' in the middle of the field, 3 downs.
SO, here are the ground rules of my CFL challenge:
1) The larger field; I want you to find some 'open space' on your page -either in the 'endzones' or the middle.
2) Three downs; everything should be in multiples of three - three pictures, six embellishments, nine letters in the title.... that sort of thing.
3) and since it's a FASTER game, this is a speed challenge! Please post how long it took you to complete your page!
Position Try Out: BLITZ
Definition: a defensive strategy in which a linebacker or defensive back vacates his normal responsibilities in order to pressure the quarterback. The object of a blitz is to tackle the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage or force the quarterback to hurry his pass.
SCRAPBOOK BLITZ:
1) ‘Vacate your normal’ way of doing a layout ~ if you like bling then no bling; if you like simple try chabby chic; if you’re a paper scraper, try hybrid. This is the time to work outside of your comfort zone…feel the pressure but make it fun!
2) ‘Force the quarterback to hurry his (her) pass’ ~ a NFL quarter is an official 15 minutes! To start your page these are the time rules (set your timer!):
a. 5 minutes to research pages that are not your style and plan your ‘play’.
b. 2 minutes to select your pictures.
c. 5 minutes to gather supplies.
d. 3 minutes to create a title (this includes cutting time)
MVP- Most Valuable Product...for this challenge you need to use the provided sketch and your most valuable product.
Too often we hoard our amazing patterned paper, awesome embellishments, embossing and other valuable product. So...no time like the present to earn an MVP award for this layout.
WHO DEY... WHO DEY... Who dey think gonna beat them Bengals.... NOOOOOBODY!!
That is the Who Dey chant for all of you non-Cincy people! At the moment, it seems that EVERYONE can beat the Bengals! Bless their hearts, they are 0-6 I am a true blue fan, and season ticket holder, so I cheer for them no matter what!
My challenge is to create a scrapbook page using Cincinnati Bengal colors-orange, black and white. I know that not everyone is a Bengal fan, but with it being October, this is the perfect opportunity to get caught up on your Halloween pages! You can accent with other colors, however the bulk of your page should be orange, black and white!
Bonus points if your page is sports related, but it definitely doesn't have to be!
We all know footballs and baseballs are made out of leather. So my challenge to you is to make a page using the Faux Leather technique (and I’m not talking about the masking tape one!).
I have done two styles of it.
The first style is my Lawrence Hurricanes page. I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Emboss your paper and rub the raised parts with ink.
If you don’t have the Swiss Dots folder don’t worry the next version is just as easy.
The second style is my Little Slugger page. I saw a similar page in the Memory Makers Magazine. I found a glove template online, enlarged it and cut out of Close to Cocoa paper. I then dampened the paper and scrunched it up. Let dry (if you are running low on time dry it with your heat gun). You could always skip the wetting and just scrunch it up. After flattening it I used chocolate chip, close to cocoa and pumpkin pie inks and rubbed onto the glove. Simple and easy.
BONUS POINTS:
Baseball & footballs have distinctive stitching. On both of my examples you will see some type of stitching. The footballs have the white threading. The baseball has the famous red stitching.
So my Bonus Challenge to you is to include some type of stitching on your page. It can be Faux, machine or hand stitching.
During the halftime show at high school, college and pro football games is about the band, flag line and cheerleaders and all the BLING, GLITZ and GLAMOUR!!!
SO on your page I want to see the all the BLING, GLITZ and GLAMOUR that you can!
Football is about winning and in order to win you have to score points. There are several ways to score points in a football game and this challenge is ALL about earning the most POINTS so you can win!
Of course, the most points earned are from touchdown, which is 6 points; followed by field goal, which is 3 points; a touchback, which is 2 points; and, an extra point is 1. How many points can you score?
How do you earn points during our Football VSBN?
1) Choose your game play by using one of the layouts below (layouts show journaling placement only) Feel free to place photos & embellishments according to INSPIRATION!
2) Earn 6 points for every item that is 6 inches or longer
3) Earn 3 points for every item that is 3 inches
4) Earn 2 points for every item that is 2 inches
5) Earn 1 point for every item that is 1 inch
6) Anything smaller are just the plays to get you toward your goal (no points)
On this challenge I want to see your team spirit. I want to see your team colors and team mascots. Obviously my Favorite team is the Arkansas Razorbacks. Even if they did lose in the last few minutes of the game last night...
