Meet the **VERVE** Diva part 12 (09/25/08)
Howdy from Texas! I do not have an accent...unless you ask my sister-in-law!
So here we are for the wrap up of the Meet The **Verve** Divas. My challenge to you is simple:
Use PURPLE as your main color. You can use any other colors, just make sure that purple pops! I chose purple to play with because this Saturday is Tony's and my 5 year wedding anniversary and that was our wedding color. Truth be known, I really don't care for it too much now. I was so consumed with purple this and purple that for such a long time that most of the time I don't even consider using it. LOL!
Everyone who plays the challenge will be entered in a random draw to win $15 Verve Bucks!! You have one week to get your card uploaded or linked to this thread. The drawing will be made next Thursday, Oct. 2nd.
Don't forget to use the keyword MTVD12 <---Please note the edited keyword!!
As I am posting this, it is late and I need to get some ZZzzzz's. I'll be back in the morning to answer any probing questions you might have.
Here's my card...

This may be the toughest yet for me - I NEVER use purple. Not sure exactly why . . . just not a color I'm comfortable with. It seems so bold and I'm never sure what to pair it with. Guess I'll have to stretch for this one.

Hey Jen, I got to play!
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1067271
I've got two questions for you: First, how did you and Tony meet? And second, how did you get so good with your Copics? Are you self-taught?

I took a quickie class from Marianne of Copic at CHA in February, but I am primarily self taught. Of course I have closely "studied" the works of many fab stampers to figure it out.

Fun challenge, Genie. Love your blog and your work and now we get a chance to get to know you better A few questions for you that I've been asking most of the other Divas:
1. What are your favorite colours to work with?
2. Who is your stamping idol if you have one?
3. How do you manage to stamp for so many DTs while having a young child
at home?
4. What do you and hubster like to do together?
5. Favorite food?
6. Best place you have travelled to and one you want to travel to.
7. Favorite Verve set?
8. What other interests do you have other than stamping - if any LOL

1. What are your favorite colours to work with?
I hate to be vague, but I think that it's always changing for me. Right now I really like working with Kraft. If you would have asked me a few months ago I would have said pink. Celery usually makes an appearance in a majority of my projects. A lot of times I just "find" combos from how my markers were put back or a stack of scraps.
2. Who is your stamping idol if you have one?
Sorry, but another vague answer here. There are a lot of talented stampers out there, but I don't know that I idolize any of them, although I do have the upmost respect for them.
3. How do you manage to stamp for so many DTs while having a young child
at home?
I stamp while she is asleep and fit it in here and there. Tony has school a few nights a week, so I try to squeeze in multiple projects on those days.
4. What do you and hubster like to do together?
He is a movie fanatic, and I like movies, too. Sometimes the best times are just sitting on the couch and watching our fave flicks together.
5. Favorite food?
Besides dessert (not cheesecake tho!!!!)? I love cheesy enchiladas, Italian pasta dishes with spinach, artichokes, mushrooms and tomatoes.
6. Best place you have travelled to and one you want to travel to.
I traveled A LOT when I was younger...Europe, China, Canada, Hawaii. I love Sweden because I have relatives there and hope to go back soon. I would love to go to Spain and Australia.
7. Favorite Verve set?
WOW, this is a hard question. I have been on the team since the beginning and have all the sets and love all of them. I love the images in Serenity and I love all the phrases that fit in the word window punches from various sets.
8. What other interests do you have other than stamping - if any LOL
I don't have any other major hobby interests. I do like to read, but I just never do. I guess I would rather be stamping. LOL! I love the outdoors, too. I wish I had more of a green thumb for plants other than weeds!
Great questions!! Thanks!!

Happy Anniversary Jen! I hope you and Tony have something fun planned for this weekend!
I am putting a card together for your challenge as I type, and trying to narrow down my list of questions for you! Might be done if it weren't for the puter LOL!

Thanks, Jen, for making me use purple....I never do! I combined your challenge with today's Ways to Use It, Julee's Mojo 54 sketch and the Verve Gettin' Kraft challenge!!
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...&ppuser=100666
I do have a couple questions...
What type of music do you listen to?
How did you and Tony end up in Texas from California?

Great creation ladies!
*****
I do have a couple questions...
What type of music do you listen to?
I have a wide variety of musical interests. Anything from Top 40 to country, to Rock (not metal) and some R & B/Rap (very selective in this genre). My fave singer of all time is Stephen Ashbrook. He's been described as rock, country and folk.
How did you and Tony end up in Texas from California?
We wanted out of high priced housing, over crowded places. Since I grew up just north of where we are now and Tony went to OU, it was an easy place to pick when we wanted to change things up. We moved here with no jobs, but quickly found them once we got here.

I LOVE purple, so this will be a fun one!
My question: How did you come by being so AWESOME? Haha! Really though, how long have you been stamping? Do you scrapbook?

I cannot tell you the secret of how that came about...LOL! JK
I have always liked crafts and stamped here and there from college +. Four years ago on Halloween a neighbor's son came trick or treating with his dad and was giving away SU! stamped treats. I contacted her the next day and the rest is history.
I have a scrapbook that I did for our wedding, and I will make mini albums from time to time, but nothing more than that.

Jen, I am finally posting this! Here is my purple card. I actually like purple but this card caught me in a stubborn streak.
Purple Cupcakes?
Now here are my questions:
What is your personal favorite of all the cards in your gallery?
Does Ellie stamp?
Do you have any pet peeves?

THIS tag card is probably my fave. It's scary to go back through my gallery!! How did I ever get on the DD when I did? LOL!!
Ellie has a couple princess and dinosaur stamps. She really just likes getting stamped on her hands and feet (and tummy sometimes).
Pet Peeves...
I LOATHE the sound of an alarm clock (or any repeating sound). If Tony does not turn off his alarm within about 3 seconds of it going off he gets a swift reminder of how much I don't like it. LOL!!
One thing that really bothers me is when people stand to close to me in line. I once had a lady standing so close to me that when I moved I felt her chest on my back. EEWW! Personal space people!!! LOL!

Thanks for the answers, Jen. It is so much fun getting to you know you Divas better Have a few more questions for you:
1. Since you are movie buffs (well at least Tony is), what is/are your
favorite movie(s)?
2. What are some of your best accomplishments?
3. If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
Hope to have time this weekend to play the challenge - DD b-day party is tonite and we are getting crafty so I'm swamped until tonite is over! Can't wait to play - purple is a fun colour to use.

1. Since you are movie buffs (well at least Tony is), what is/are your
favorite movie(s)? We like all the Bourne movies, Batman movies, Boiler Room, Sideways
2. What are some of your best accomplishments? Being a mom!! Or do you mean stamping? I won the Stamping Royalty contest in 3 categories last year. That was pretty cool!!
3. If you were an animal, which one would you be and why? Domestic...a cat. Get to cuddle when you want, do your own thing and just be an every day princess. LOL!!! Wild...A nice shark or whale or dolphin. No thrashing and gashing other animals, but respected as I gently glide through warm waters.
Hope to have time this weekend to play the challenge - DD b-day party is tonite and we are getting crafty so I'm swamped until tonite is over! Can't wait to play - purple is a fun colour to use.

Ugh, Jen...you're killing me...really??? PURPLE? I actually don't think I've EVER used purple on a card. Not my fave. But I'm going to force myself to come up with something this weekend!!! Thanks for the great challenge (absolutely not a shred of sarcasm there....ha ha). Oh, and Boomer Sooner baby!!! (I'm an OU alum and my hubby wrestled for the Sooners & is an alum as well, which is how we met....so scandalous...I was the athletic trainer for the wrestling team and he was one of my athletes....). OK, be back later with my purple project....

Purple is SOOOO not my color . . . but here's my try. I always feel so self-conscious using or wearing purple. What's that all about? Anyway - thanks for the challenge and making me stretch. Hope your anniversary was fun!

LOVE purple, Jen! It's still my favorite! Here's my purple card. It was great "getting to know you" through all these questions! Only one question from me (and only because it's the only thing I can think of that I didn't see asked already! LOL) Do you plan to have more kids? Hope you had a wonderful anniversary!

3. Any pet peeves?
4. What type of dimensionals do you use so your cards don't fall apart when

If you're up to them, here are a few more questions:
1. What is something you adore about your DH? His ability to see both sides of every story...makes for great, thoughtful conversations.
2. What is something he does that drives you nuts (we won't tell, promise
- LOL) snoring!
3. Any pet peeves? ** answered a few posts above
4. What type of dimensionals do you use so your cards don't fall apart when
mailed? I use thermo-web glue dots or the red line dimensionals that jody morrow sells on her blog.
5. If you could buy only one set of nesties, which one would it be? Definitely circles! You can cut squares easily, but circles are tough!
