I am looking for ideas for my soon to be studio, so if you won the lottery and could buy whatever you wanted what storage unit(s) would you buy? I want to see the best of the best I know I won't be able to afford any of it but my DH said maybe we could make something.
Thanks for your help.
SUPER sturdy, easy to move, and it holds a TON of stuff! And when I am felling crafty, I just take a bin to my work surface, create, put everything back in the bin and put the bin away. Makes clean up a breeze!
I just posted this yesterday; this is a piece similar to what Collectors Cabinets makes & produces, but mine is a little bigger and all shelves are on gliders (an added bonus!). I got it made but if your hubby is handy, I"m sure he could make one for you. I just got this in a few days ago, and I'm ready to play! Take a look.

I have a Collector's Cabinet with the base unit and smaller unit that serves to make a hutch. However, if money were no object, my dream storage and desk system would be this:
Wow! There are some great solutions for storage (if money were no object). One of the ladies on my cross stitch board designed a closet using Ikea storage drawers - they would also work for stamps/paper/cardstock. It is pretty impressive too.
I love that Scrapbox! I'm eventually going to be selling my house and downsizing. Right now, my stuff takes up a whole room, but when I downsize, I'm not going to be able to do that. The Scrapbox is perfect! And on wheels too! I could line them up (notice I said 'them') and pull them forward around my work table.
Does the price include all the drawers inside?
Anybody have one of these that can tell me how they like it?
I'm OCD with SPS and I hate clutter...so...All white cabinets and counters...everything in white and black containers.....wood floor....lots of light....did I mention white?

I always wanted the scrapbox, but the hubby never liked the price. Also, i think the scrapbox would be even cooler if it had a peg board on one side, instead of pouches. I like some things to be easy grab, instead of pulling out a box or opening a pouch.
Have fun designing your studio.

As I understand it, yes, it does. Cool, eh?!

Oh, girl, it sounds *perfect* for your future downsizing plans!
I don't own one, but, did get to see it IRL, and, for me, it would be the ideal. Wait, I take that back: 2 of 'em would be the ideal. ;)

I really really like having stand alone cabinets (IKEA) that function like kitchen cabinets except they can be taken apart and put together in different ways. For instance I can take them apart and shorten their length, add shelving, take base cabinet and move it to the top.
I also can take them with me when I move. They have been in 3 different configurations in 3 different houses. Good Buy!!
I waited a long time for them but got my untimate....Craft Maid cabinets. They have great cabinets, a big selection and one of my favorites is the actual craft cabinet with lots of long, shallow drawers. Another favorite is the pantry cabinet and just love my pot drawers for my papers. Here is a link to one of my pages of photos if you want a peak.

Oh wow, only $4000 grand for the one I'd want LOL but maybe dh can build me one (AFTER he finishes our bedroom, puts in our patio and brings in dirt for a garden LOL)

Go to Bestscrapbookshelf.com and check out the stamp/storage cabinets. I have a small one and a large one, and now they've started making 3" drawers for punches and taller items. I have quite a few of my stamps in the 1" drawers and they're wonderful. I'll soon have to get another. Expensive but worth it.
I saw a great desk unit at Thomasville that I am really trying to get DH to buy. We have a home office that he and I share and I hate that all of our furnitur is a mish mosh of things. I stamp on a brown buffet table and he has an oak desk unit. I can not tell you how sick I am of Sterlite!!!

I went to see the Scrapbox after finding an earlier thread on this same subject. In spite of the cost, I could not bring myself to walk out the door without ordering one. I love mine and they have a smaller size available now too. Drawers do come with it. My husband and I managed to assemble it without too many "discussions"!!!
I'm a little disappointed in how it handles SU Stamp set storage. Also, I wish the table top would swing up for easier access to that underneath storage. The new ribbon keeper drawer they have is great too.
I'm stilll extremely happy with my decision to purchase. It's great to be able to straighten up a bit and close it in case company is coming.

If money were no object and my DH could take off work long enough, I'd have him make my ultimate room. He's a wonderful craftsman. He made me this table.
I like to stand a lot when I scrap or stamp so it's the perfect height for me. He has since made me new bookshelves that fit my 12 x 12 paper without hanging over.
I'd love to have a room with kitchen cabinets, durable countertops with holes cut in for trash so I can scoop everything in. I'd like varying heights and an island where I can stand. As far as organization, I pick up my own stuff that works for me and it's usually not "craft" related.
WOW that Scrapbox is cool! I don't think I could fit everything in there though. And those French Envy units are GORGEOUS!!! Oh I can't decided what type of storage I need. Well, maybe after I browse some more it will come to me thanks for all the ideas!
IKEA has a unit that's on wheels that looks alot like the "Best Scrapbook Shelf" I saw that website and thought IKEA. I'm sure that some folks at SCS have them in their room photos.
I'm guessing it'd (IKEA) be a cheaper option since I didn't see the prices on the link that was posted.
MY mom and sis each have one and it holds a ton! I love my crop n style cubes. I have them arranged so they make a wall (I scap in a shared space) and the top hold my big paper cutter and paints. I wish I had shallow shelves so I could display all of my woodmounted stamps, right now they are in acrylic box-style picture frames in a dresser, I can find what I want quickly and store a lot in a small space but they seem to pretty to be tucked away.
Good luck, post pics when you have your room done!
I am lucky to have and love my "Best Craft Organiser" units. I have 3 mini stackables with 1"and 2" drawers ( getting the new 3.5" drawers next which will fit the big punches in better!) - holding all my wooden stamps, punches, tools as well as many embellishments. I just love that I can vary the shelves and so put anything in there. Only wish I had space for another one so I could organise all my scrap paper too...!! I have the 3 units under an extendable leg side table (from Ikea) which is great as I also put big 12x12boxes of stuff on top under the table top.
Pricing ranged from about 120-150 for a mini stackable with a full set of drawers (19x1", or 8 x 2" drawers) ( Guess u would pay the same rate in $ in the US...u lucky things!!)
There are also double stackers, hutches, desks etc Amanda
Her's the blurb from where I buy them from in the UK...... The Best Craft Organiser products are designed to allow you to customise the units to best suit your craft storage needs. All cabinets and drawers are modular in form so you can add to them as you build your unit now or over time. Drawers or paper shelves can be taken out and other sizes put in their place should your storage requirements change
This item is the Mini Stacker. This item is the unit only and is supplied empty, you will need to order the drawers or paper shelves that you require to fill it.
You can add a selection of either 2" deep drawers (takes 2 slots), 1" deep drawer (takes 1 slot) or paper shelves (takes 1 slot) - please see image below for an example.
The Mini Stacker has 19 1" slots so all you need to do is decide on the configuration which best suits your needs.
If you require a larger unit please see the Double Stacker which is twice the height. Alternatively if you require a larger fixed unit for your craft room please see either the Triple Stacker or Craft Desk (with or without hutch).
I found this at the local Stampfest in June and LOVE it! It's a reasonably affordable option. You can see a larger pic here. The Company is at http://www.customwoodbydallas.com/.
Hope this helps!
