TLC183 Faux Dry Embossing 8/25/08
Hello all, and happy Monday!
Today's technique is Faux Dry Embossing. Now, some of you may be saying, "wait...we did this for TLC55" but for this Faux Dry Embossing, no punches, cuttlebug, embossing stylus or brass template is necessary; all you need for this technique is a white or vanilla ink, classic ink and matching cardstock, a stamp, and the most helpful, Stamp-a-ma-jig (or comparable product). I first learned of this technique from Pat Huntoon over a year ago, and fell in love with it immediately.
I have included four photos that will help describe the process. Since the maximum number of files for any one post are 3, I have attached the last picture in post #2.
You can view MY SAMPLE HERE.
Don't hesitate to let me know if you have questions or please share tips that you come across along your creative process. Don't forget to use the keyword TLC183 when you upload your project.
I hope you will drop your cuttlebug at the door and try this technique for a fun and different variation on embossing.
To see all the creations using this technique visit the TLC183 gallery.

Oooooh, I've done this before but I never realised that this is what the technique was called - how funny is that???? Will have a play a bit later.
Thanks for the challenge Lynn.

Hhmmm, this could be a challenge since I don't have a Stamp-a-ma-jig. I've have to see what I come up with! Thanks Lynn!

Now that looks interesting. Any faux dry-embossing I've done has been of the punch type. Just have to have a look see what ink I have that will match card, and then I'll give this a go. And I'd better see if Classic Ink is dye or pigment before I choose my colours, I suppose. Looking forward to this, I love trying new things.

Yeah...I don't know what's up...I've relinked it twice and I can't get the link to work either. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the heads up.
Here's the big link...let's see if that works: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=59966

This is a fun technique. I forget to use so many of them, and this served as a great reminder. Thanks Lynn.

Lynn, I wish I could play, but no stamp-a-ma-jig. I am not sure that I am confident enough to eyeball this one. I will enjoy seeing what everyone else creates.

Do you have a t-square? That will work like a stamp-a-ma-jig, and I have used transparencies as image sheets before, although it is a bit more tricky. Even if you don't play now, you will have the technique in your arsenal for when you do get one.

OK, this is not my best card ever, but I really did enjoy the technique and will try it again when I am not totally exhausted. Gas thing is I got my mum's old pasta machine at the weekend to try out with my Fiskars texture plates, but that wasn't on for today .
Faux-embossed Birthday Bloom
I was so impressed with how it looked just like when you add an embossing filter in a graphics package. And it really does look more embossed IRL - yet again it's a cloudy grey day here so not the best for photography.
Thanks for such a fun technique.

Any thoughts on how to do this if you don't own a stamp-a-ma-jig?
