Question acetate box

O.K., Here is a silly question, I have never used acetate before, do you buy it in a craft shop? Does it come in one size or a big sheet? Thanks for your help. Great idea.

Okay, got the acetate together and top/bottom cut and scored, but I'm not getting how to put the box top and bottom together, i.e., folding it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. I suppose I'm just one of those visual people who need almost everything spelled out for them with new stuff.

Okay, got it now. I needed to CUT on the black lines. Duh!

Wish Meijer's computer didn't eat my memory card. I made 450 of these for my friend's sister's wedding. I'd make another but I'm outta acetate! These are so easy and fun to make! Best part is that they can look cute or they can look elegant! It's all how you decorate it!

I've never made an acetate box although I've thought about it in the past. I didn't have candy, so I filled mine with stamps.

I would suggest folding the bottom and top and securing those with your adhesive. Then fold the acetate and attach that to the bottom first. The top just slips on and is held in place by either eyelets or ribbon (whatever you choose to use)...did that help any at all?

I have a silly question...... how do you get the top off after you fill it with treats and tie the ribbon on?? I don't want to give this to a child for Halloween and then he/she spends an hour ripping it apart to get to the candy.

Lightbulb went off! No acetate but did have page protectors so gave those a try (kinda flimsy but I managed to eek out a box). :-)

Guess I'm a visual person too because I just did not get the top and bottom part done right - but I did my own and I like it. Will try to figure out the top and bottom later - call me ditz! Gotta go mow grass!

With mine, all you do is slide the bead out and it allows the top to be lifted off. The top is not attached to the adetate, but only sits on it. If you tied a ribbon on the top with a bow, all they would have have to do is untie the bow. Does that help?

The tutorial is in PDF...and I tried to convert it to a word document, but it wouldn't turn out right...all the formatting was off and askewed. Sorry. :(

What a cool project! I absolutely loved doing it!!! I created this acetate treat box for this challenge and the demo planner challenge. I'll be using it as prizes to give away to the winners. So, if you are an SU demo and would like to play, check out the link in my siggy!

This is such a cute challenge, thanks!!

In the light of "treats don't have to be candy", I tried to decide what else to put in this little box, and I LOVED some of the other ideas! It finally came to me that this would be a great little way to give wedding guests that birdseed that we can toss after the bride and groom as they head off from the church.

I know SU hasn't had Window Sheets for a while now, so last Christmas for my cards I bought a huge pack of Overhead Projector Sheets from Staples, and that's what I used as my acetate sheet. It worked very well, they are sturdy enough.

Here is my take on that (but I don't know if I'll be able to stop here, this is so cute I might need to make more!)

What a fun challenge! The only thing i had to add is that the bottom needs to be secured on if you have anything with weight in the box. Super fun and I will do more for sure!

Thanks Lynn!!!
