Copic - mixing colors

I just bought empty marker and B00 ink refill to create a lighter blue (because I think B000 is not much lighter than B00).

I'm just curious, when creating your own colors, do you mix the ink before putting it in the marker? I'm not sure it is mixing correctly in the marker, as the color is not the same on both side. Should I let it rest for a while before using it?

Marianne covered this today in the certification class. Yes, you need to mix it before filling up the marker. Apparently, there is a "sponge" inside the marker and more than likely, there is too much of the colorless blender for the ink to mix correctly. I don't remember what she said about how to fix it, so you may want to email her.

I think Ellen Hutson even showed how she mixed her colors and filled her markers on her blog. She did mix before adding, it might be good to take a look at her blog, Simple Dreams.

As I can't find either empty ink bottle, or empty marker, here, I guess I will have to order them on the net, and choose other colors at the same time as well. Poor me. ;)
