What medium do you use to color with chalk inks....
I just got my first chalk inks and I'm not sure what I can use to color in my images with. Can I use water color pencils or the Gamsol, Go Gone or do these smear?
Thanks
Interesting question...... I have never tried to color an image that was stamped with chalk ink. I guess because the only chalk inks I have a light colors.
My best suggestion -- in light of the fact that I do not know the answer -- is to stamp something small on a couple of scraps of cardstock. Let them dry, then try brushing it with water or with Gamsol. If it smears, then go back to a permanent dye ink when you want to color the image. Save the chalk ink for other styles.
I have actually used the chalk inks themselves to color an image. I believe I got the idea from Lisa Strahl's blog. I just press some of the chalk ink onto a my nonstick craft sheet and use a waterbrush to pick up the color.
I found that you can emboss the chalk ink (as long as your chalk pad is juicy enough and you work quickly.) Then you can colour however you want & it's protected... :0)
Hi everyone, thanks for the help and ideas. Sorry I haven't been here we've had so much going on.
I did pick up a versamagic chalk ink to compare to the colorbox chalk and haven't had time to really do anything. What I have stamped I think I like the colorbox the best. They seem to have more juice and stamp cleaner to me. also the colors are bolder.
pisserbaby, stumps are like rolled up paper with pointy ends they look like a pencil. They can be found near the charcoal pencils in Michaels if you have one, in the art area.
