WARNING~~~WARNING~~~Cheesy Blog
I have a true concern that I guess I need to share. While searching for Bella designs I stumbled upon a we page called" Dirty Shank Cards" I hope that this is some kind of joke and after seeing the cards posted it HAS to be! I have a great sense of humor and can laugh at about anything warped or otherwise but...this is tacky, cheesy and a meaningful insult to designers and stampers of the site.
I am actually surprised SCS has allowed this trash on their gallery? I thought this site was somewhat monitored for stuff like this?
I was actually reluctant to post this in fear that anyone out of curiousity will look at this "WHATEVER" (but, I had to be one of the lucky ones!).
Please- do something about this- this is ridiculous, childish and very Howard Stern behavior.I guess my comment is...if you don't appreciate the work-GET OUT!

If you have a concern about the content of a card, then you need to report the card to the moderator team. There is an option to "report photo" below the description of the card.
I am not able to speak for the gallery moderator team nor for the site owners, but I *think* that there is very little censoring on this site in terms of what constitutes art. As long as it is not completely over the top and vile, then I *think* it is allowed to stay.
There are many stampers on this site who enjoy the "twisted and demented" form of art. It doesn't mean that all enjoy it, but art is subjective. Some of the top designers/artists on this site submit "twisted and demented" cards to their galleries.
What one considers art another may consider, as you put it, "trash." My suggestion to you is that if something bothers you then either report it or just move on to the next picture or gallery.

I just viewed many of her cards. While some of them may be in questionable taste and political correctness, her artwork is great. I don't think it is fair to dismiss artistic quality based on the subject matter. As far as cheesy, I think I am safe in saying that was probably the intent! I agree with Christine, many people probably find these cards hysterically funny. Those who do will enjoy viewing her cards, and those who don't will probably sign off her gallery after the first one they find that offends. Short of pornography, I don't think we need censorship to govern our artwork. JMO

Some of us actually happen to have a rather twisted sense of humor. I happen to love her stuff. And for you to call another stampers work "trash" is insulting. Your cards may not be someone's cup of tea, either.
But, feel free to join my swap!

I have subscribed to the blog comment thread, which has lead me to the blog 'jailbirdstamper' many times. What I saw was great!!! I don't even consider myself to have a twisted sense of humor, so I'm not sure what others would find offensive. I know I never saw anything I would label as "trash".

OK, so I was looking in the wrong blog when I commented, but now that I've seen the cards, I don't see a problem. Many card stores carry lines of cards with questionable humor, bathroom jokes, adult-only humor. Different cards for different tastes.
Jailbird - keep going strong. I also find boxing and wrestling offensive, but I love the true-crime stories you post at your Jailbird blog!

Yes, Please do. EVERY SINGLE report gets addressed. EVERY SINGLE reported card is opened, evaluated and considered on an individual basis.

I won't speak for the owners or the entire team but I will speak for myself. I enjoy the twisted and demented cards. And I have even bookmared the blog in question and view it regularly. While I don't CASE them, I would if I felt there was someone appropriate to send it too. Even Hallmark makes some questionable cards.

Indeed. And short of pornography all papercrafting/stamping is welcomed. No matter what the content or skill level. And that is what I love about SCS. Everyone is welcome... no matter what.

Well I would like to say to the original poster, just remember that everyone's taste is a little different.
That being said - there are some 'twisted card swaps' that go on, on here. I find nothing wrong with them myself. I don't participate but that doesn't mean that I don't find a little humor in them sometimes. Occasionally they are a little over the top but hey, they are suppose to be "Twisted".
So, I think if you find something unusual that you don't care for you should move on to the next sample and keep the 'twisted' side of things in mind or if it is that bad report it as Christine suggested.

If you dont appreciate HER work, then you dont need to look at it! Thanks for drawing my attention to jailbirdstamper's blog - I think the cards are wonderful and very funny! Everyone has different tastes, that's what makes the world go around! I certainly wouldnt call someone else's work "trash" ... that is insulting.

IMHO I cannot see where JBS is being insulting to anyone. It does appear to me that she is creating her art and sharing it via her gallery and blog.
Perhaps we don't appreciate or agree with or understand her art, and that is our entitlement. What's great is that we are all free to look or to look away. I appreciate that freedom here on SCS.
In closing, lakemom, quoting from your original post--last sentence--"...if you don't appreciate the work-get out!"

OK, that blog just went in my Google reader! Thanks for the chuckle! And hey, thanks to the OP for bringing it to so many people's attention! I find it ironic that so often you get people with just a few posts that come to the forums, proceed to lambaste someone for being different or having an opposing viewpoint, then you never see them again! Maybe the next Dirty Shank card should be something that says "Silence is golden!"

In my opinion, when I happened upon the Dirty Shanks swap, I went to Jailbirdstamper's blog and laughed and laughed! To have that creativity is awesome! To me, there is nothing wrong w/ having a twisted sense of humor. There are some really sickeningly sweet cards here at SCS, I think it's a nice change to have something a little different.
If I don't like a card, I don't comment, and I just move on.
Some people just have too much time on their hands apparently.
Well, don't bother looking in my gallery or blog because my card is posted there for the Dirty Shanks Swap! And this is the first of many!

Ok, everyone. We are all entitled to our own opinions, including the original poster. Let's let this one go. We're saying the same thing at this point and nothing new is being added to the conversation.
Have a great Memorial Weekend, for those of you who are Americans, and a wonderful, sunny weekend for all!

APOLOGY TO Jailbirdstamper & All
man- I don't want to be the first blogger ever kikcked off of SCS so...
after humbling me completely~~~PLEASE accept my apology for any insult I may have given to jailbird stamper and any others on this site! I must have lost my mind when i wrote that!?!?! I usually have a very worped sense of humor myself & I don't know why that hit me like it did. Very rough week- but, no excuse!
Again...My deepest apologies and all are right in saying if I don't like it- don't look!
Thanks,

I happened to stumble upon lakemom's original comment last night before anyone else had commented-and looked at the cards in question-first, I was a little, shall we say, confuzzled?? Then, I looked through all of them and saw some that I really REALLY liked...(being 21-I need cards like that for MANY MANY people)
But, people have the right to have their own opinions...and whether they like the cards or not, is their choice, and we should respect them-as they should respect the artists choice.
p.s. jailbird..if you read this..can you make a card for a someone getting married to a jerk of a guy?? (i'll look to see if you've already made one!)

i saw this last night before anyone posted and decided not to post because i didn't know if it was just mods that should reply in this forum. why on earth would anyone post a thread calling another's artwork "trash", especially solely based on subject matter! i love her cards just the way they are, they express her genuine personality, and to recieve a card from someone like that is sooo much better than getting yet another hallmark-escque card. i think you need to take your own advice. it you can't appreciate the artwork, then GET OUT! how completely ridiculous.
jailbirdstamper, i'm so glad this thread led me to your blog. i'll be visiting that and your gallery quite often and may case quite a few of your cards. btw, i love your voodoo doll card and i'm going to buy that stamp just so i can make that card for my mom!!! lmbo. thank you thank you thank you!

I would be HONORED - working on it now!
***
Just a note to everyone: I'm never offended when someone calls my work trash - I take that as a compliment. I guess I do have a bit of Howard Stern in me (shock!) - so let's be nice to the OP, all opinons are welcome (and truly quite interesting). I've unmoderated comments on the blog so you can post nice and nasty remarks anonymously - knock yourself out!
Thanks to my peeps who share my 'humor' - I like people that make me laugh or the peeps that just want to fight for my right to make myself (and a few other bad girl sisters - you know who you are) laugh.

Hey Lakemom!! Welcome to SCS!! I really felt badly for you... I thought people kinda toppled on you very heavily!! It takes a while to get the feel of SCS - you just made a comment that you felt was valid at the time - and as a newcomer to SCS - I think it's our job to make you feel welcome!!! Please know that you just had an isolated kind of bad experience- generally people here are very friendly and accepting!! Please stay on board and give us SCS's er a chance to let you know what friendly people we really are!!
hugs to you my friend!!! I can't wait to see your first few cards!!!!
Looking forward to more of your posts and cards!! Take care and no harm done!!
Just one of those things!

lakemom,
it takes a lot of courage to admit when you're wrong and that's very admirable. i know in my response to your post i was a lot harsher than i generally am and i apologize for that. i think debzi was right when she said you kinda got attacked there. i just really try to see the good in anyone's work and hope that others will do the same. it was wonderful of you to apologize to her when so many others would've adamantly stood their ground. welcome to scs where you can always find help with anything, stamping or not, and always remember that "golden" rule!

Thank You to all !!!
I am ready to just melt down! I appreciate the words of encouragement especially from Jailbirdstamper and the acceptance of my apology.
You guys are great- I promise I will keep my lips shut and kick out some
awesome cards-lol! I was almost afraid to post again after this fiasco.
but, I will start over and hopefully get it right this time. Not that this is any excuse but, I have been on steroids and had to have lumbar injections for a chronic back problem I am dealing with and i get very ouchy and weird from these things.I really am a good person that loves to have fun- apparently, just not right now. Even my husband asked a few times this week "where did you pull that one out of"? Again...thank you to all!

I posted a comment once thinking I was being nice. The stamper wrote me and asked me exactly what did I mean by waht I said. She totally missed what I meant. I was very apprehensive about commenting again. But I did it anyway, so jump on in. I think we all just love to stamp!

no worries Lakemom - I guess my work gives me a jaded sense of humor.... my kids tell me all the time that I *think* I'm the funniest person out there - so I make myself laugh at least!
5 out of 6 kids think these are funny
1 daughter and dh - think they often cross the lines.... so even the family is divided! And my hubby thinks I'm the anti-christ!
