I could swear that I saw something, somewhere...whether here or in a SU! publication...that you could use reinkers to dye clear embossing powder. Has anyone actually done this? How does it work? Does the color stay true even after heating it?
I haven't heard of using reinkers, but I've heard of using PearlEx powder. Maybe what you saw described using Versamark with classic inks (if you don't have the craft ink in whatever color you need), then embossing with clear ep?
HTH,
Lynn
But to have EP that matches SU inks using clear embossing powder....Simply ink your image in versamark first, then into your ink pad, stamp and clear emboss.
Yeah, I've used the Versamark and Classic Inks. I was just trying to get better color from my clear EP and thought I had seen something about it. I've gone through all my Stampin' Success prints and found the one about Dazzling Diamonds. I might just have to try it to see what happens to the EP. Thanks for the great input...you girls ROCK!
I know it's not SU! stuff, but Tim Holtz shows alcohol inks added to clear ep. You have to stir it until the alcohol 'flashes' off, but it does give a lovely (and matching) ep color.
I have placed small amounts of clear or white or even glittery embossing powders into small plastic cups ... (used for bathrooms to brush teeth plastic works better then paper) add a few drops of reinkers stir with a popcile stick stiring well add more reinkers as desired color ... set aside to dry. once dry it will not be clumpy anymore. Tim Holtz did it with his Add various embossing powders (metallic, pearl, colored UTEE colored with Alcohol Inks) and allow to melt. See HGTV show CDS-1810. I have had very great luck with doing this.
I don't know if this helps but, I stamp in craft ink then emboss with clear EP. the craft ink stays wet long enough to get the powder on and emboss. HTH
I have tryed tinting clear EP with Classic re-inkers. It never seemed to un-clump enough to dust on my image to emboss. KWIM? Probably because classic ink doesn't have alcohol in it to evaporate off?
I have done it using the Alcohol Inks. If you give it time to try, the alchol evaporates leaving just the color. Once dry, shake it up to release any clumps. It seems I also remember this was something Tim Holtz did
