Requesting RAK cards for a friend with advanced breast cancer
Hello SCS friends,
I am writing to ask for a special request for encouragement cards for my dear friend Shelly She is my friend who has breast cancer. It has Metastaticized (spread all over). She is only 43 years old. She has 4 children, twin girls Ally & Samantha (15), Will (14) and Gabriella (6). She has been so faithful and standing on God's word that she IS HEALED! She refuses to accept this diagnosis. She is so brave and so wonderful. So sweet...she never complains EVER...about any of her health issues. She just lives her life as though nothing were even wrong with her. (She even worries about me and my disease, which pales in comparison.)
She had undergone chemotherapy that made her hands and feet turn brown and the skin was peeling off in layers. (I cried just seeing them.) This week ...she finally broke down to me that none of her treatments are working. Nothing is changing...it is spreading. I just cried with her and we prayed together. I wanted her to cry, because it's the first time throughout this whole thing that she even did cry about it that I am aware of. I felt like she needs to cry to release some of what is happening to her. So, I cried with her and then prayed hard for her. It's all I can do.
I sent her a card every day with scriptures of hope and healing in them, for about 2 months when she first got diagnosed with the cancer's return.
My request of you is this...I am asking if any of you who would feel so moved to, could you send her an encouragement card. Just one...from you. Not for me to send. I want her to know that others are praying for her and lifting her up. If you could send it to me, but address it like this:
Shelly's Cards
c/o Tammy Tobac
235 Kaufman Road
Gibsonia, PA 15044
(that way I won't open them....and can pass them right along to her)
I would greatly appreciate if you girls would do this for Shelly. I will take them to her personally. This week was the most down she ever was...I would love to cheer her up with the cards. She loves our handmade cards. That was what I sent her in the beginning...or just scripture cards. You don't have to put scriptures unless you want to. Just encouragement cards are what she needs right now. I can't imagine what she is facing and thinking about. She is a beautiful wonderful friend and these are the moments where we don't understand why God doesn't step in and heal her with a miracle right now. I pray that for her daily. A miracle is what she needs right now...I have seen them take place, and I pray that it will happen for Shelly as well.
I thank those of you who are willing to take a moment and send a card (even one from a swap that you didn't make...whatever you want to send). If you don't have time to send a card, could you just offer up a prayer for her.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart ladies.
peace & blessings,
Tammy

Tammy, Will be more than happy to send a card of encouragement to Shelly. My heart goes out to her as well as you as her friend. This is so tragically sad but surely the Lord loves Shelly and her children more than we ever could and pray for the Healing Physician to touch her body.
Please keep the updates coming. Thanks.
Caterina
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely He took up our infirmities And carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

Tammy,
I know your pain. I lost my best friend to breast cancer 2 years ago. She too was very young. I'd be more than happy to send her a card out this week.
Hugs,
Tanya

Dear Caterina,
That scripture is perfect. I am sure that I have sent it to her before, but it surely bears repeating. Perhaps you could put it in your card as well.
Thank you for the encouraging words. I will let you know as she progresses. She is researching out of country options such as a hyperthermia treatment in Mexico. I told her pray and God will give her peace about the right direction she should take. She will just "know"....and have peace about it.
Thanks so much for blessing Shelly!
peace & blessings to you and your family always,
Tammy

Dear Tanya,
I am so terribly sorry for you about losing your friend. My tears flow for you right now my friend. That is so tragic...so hard to move on. I lost a son too (he was stillborn-full term) and I am having an even harder time understanding God's will with this than that. I thank you for being willing to remember Shelly as it so touches your heart as well and draws you back to your own pain. Thank you so much.
peace & blessings to you and your family always,
Tammy

suggestion
I suggest making a thread just like this one in everyday chit because I think a lot more people look in there rather than in Need a lift? I think you will get a lot more turn outs. I would love to make a card for her! I will let you know when I have sent it out!! She is in my thoughts and prayers, as well as her children.

Thanks so much for that information Kristen. I will be sure to put it in there too. Thanks so much for sending a card and for the prayers. I will be sure to add a new swap thread in that category as well. Good idea.
blessings to you and your family always,

Tammy,
My best friend died of cancer a year and a half ago. I totally understand your pain of watching someone you love slowly leave. I will be sending a card out to Shelly tomorrow, and lifting up prayers for her tonight.
God bless,
Kimi

Dear Kimi,
Thanks so much for doing this for Shelly. I am so terribly sorry about your friend. It seems that most of the women who are signing up for this have this common thread...that they know someone who passed of this dreadful disease. I am sorry that you too know the pain of this and that you lost your best friend. God bless you for setting aside your own pain to make one for Shelly.
luv,
Tammy

Thank-you Tammy, I appreciate your kind words. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I can't even imagine how hard that must've been on you and your husband. That has to be the most tragic thing a parent has to deal with in their life is losing a child. (((Hugs)))
My card is going in the mail right now Any update on Shelly?
Hugs,
Tanys

Dear Tanya,
Yes it was the most horrible thing I had to deal with ...right next to losing my younger brother. He shot himself at the age of 19. That was equally horrible. You think your psyche will never survive such a blow...but yet we do.
I am wrestling God on this one with Shelly. That's where I am at with this. I want him to bring her a miracle -- because that is all that will save her it seems. The cancer is everywhere and she is starting to get tired. And sick. And it feels horrible to watch her start to go downhill, because she has been so wonderful and upbeat up till now. But it's starting to take it's toll.

Tammy, it was a privilege to do such a very small thing. Wish there would be someway to come and sit with both you and Shelly and give you more support. This is sooo very hard. My dad died of cancer in 1995 and seeing this tower of strength destroyed by this insidious disease. It changed my way of thinking forever on anyone who has cancer.
Please know my heart goes out to you, Shelly and your families. Know, too, that the Lord is in all of this with you and will somehow give blessings along the way as He did for me with my dad.

Caterina,
It is a horrible disease isn't it. Shelly is only now starting to feel physically tired and having stomach aches. Before this she just couldn't even believe she was sick...but for the hair falling out and such. She still lived as normal a life as she could. But now it's starting to take it's toll. I haven't heard from her all week after several phone calls to her. She has so many people tugging at her ...family friends... I almost don't want to be a burden, but to give her some space. She is one of those people who actually used to send thank you cards for all the cards she got! We tried to tell her that she can't do all that. There are just too many and it's just too hard. Her hand peel from the chemotherapy. So I just want her to rest when she needs it...you know what I mean. I am so incredibly sorry about you watching your Father be destroyed by this disease as well. It is just devastating how many people cancer affects. We must do something in this lifetime! I hate the destruction it leaves in it's path.
Thank you again for blessing Shelly.
luv,
Tammy

I am keeping Shelly in my personal prayers asking God to let her remain here to continue her mothering until her children are grown. May He hold her in his arms and heal her from this illness. May both you, Shelly and her family feel God's love. Your Friend--Mae (I didn't know how to comment on your blog.)
