Default APRIL CONTEST: April 7 through 11th

Instead of a month long contest, Flourishes is having a week long contest (ok - technically 5 days!) starting Monday April 7th. We're celebrating a new release as well as the one year anniversary of the SCS Weekly Inking!
Here are the contest details:
-Upload a card using ANY Flourishes stamp during the time period of April 7 through April 11 and post a link on this thread - using fllc as a keyword.
-Friday evening we will announce two winners who will receive the Flourishes Stamp Set of THEIR choice!!

If you are not a subscriber to the SCS Weekly Inkling - then do so now! Wednesday will be the one year anniversary and SCS will be giving away lots of prizes donated by many companies - Flourishes being one of them!

AND- be on the lookout for Flourishes new releases next week!!

Oh, I love fun and games -- and I know I'm not eligible for a prize, but I'm playing just for the fun of it -- I'll make something tonight!!!

I just returned from a weekend with my sister and am catching up here. I'll definitely be doing a card and uploading it. I always like a chance to win something -- especially something nice like a free set of Flourishes stamps! And I'll be waiting for Wednesday's "Inkling." Thanks for the heads-up!

Love them, Aimee!!! For only having one set, you certainly picked a winner -- that is THE best set for doing quick and impressive Christmas cards!!! And I LOVE your use of a scoring tool to emboss the borders - great Christmas cards!!! And good for you for being ahead of the game!!! You have some very classy cards there!!! Your friends will be impressed!!!

These are awesome. I am not able to enter, as I don't have any of these stamps yet, but I will be looking at all your admissions to see what I do want to buy real soon.

Great jobs to all those who have submitted so far.

I was bound and determined to use Harlequin for this week's contest. I've been having a little problem working with it. Here's my card -- http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=72594

Lois, your card is gorgeous!!! Love the Swiss Dots and the straight line embossing you incorporated!!! Great job!!!

What's the problem you're having with Harlequin? Is it because it isn't a full size background? Just guessing -- but if that's the problem -- personally, I love a background that isn't full size -- I think they're fun to work with. Here are links to 2 cards I've done with Harlequin, and this feminine sympathy card I did is probably THE most favorite sympathy card I've ever made!

Feminine Sympathy Card

And then I did a guy's card -- actually, I think Jan Marie took this card and, with some modifications based on her supplies, used it for a class she taught. This set goes both ways so easily -- masculine or feminine!

Masculine Card

Also, if you go to the Flourishes Store and on the first page type Harlequin into the search box, a few more will pop up done by other members of the DT. Leslie did an amazing one the other day with the ties from Menswear and Harlequin!

If that's not the problem you've been having, let me know -- I'd be happy to try to help!

Hi Paula -- I see you are not only new to Flourishes stamps, but you are also new to Splitcoast -- I can tell because you only have 6 posts!!! (We know everything around here -- LOL!!!) Anyway, so glad to have you here, both at Splitcoast and as someone interested in Flourishes stamps!!! They are great!!! I love to do elegant and pretty cards, and Flourishes images are definitely in that category!!! Hope to see you around!!!

Thanks for your encouragement, Sharon. I actually did do a search on the home page of Flourishes for Harlequin. I think that actually helped me. I just couldn't get my creative juices flowing, but looking at the samples did give me a few jump starts. I'll keep working with it. I may have to get that bigger acrylic block to work with. That may also have been part of my problem -- my biggest block left some of the stamp hanging over.

HI Lois,
Your card is great! I love how feminine it is. I hope you noticed that we carry a set of blocks and one is especially cut for us to accommodate our large backgrounds. Thanks for playing this time...I miss you when you don't.

Charlene -- that card just took my breath away -- OH MY!!! What fabulous work!!! Truly, a labor of love!!!

You mentioned the sentiment stamp not printing correctly -- you also said it was the first time using the set. Do you ever condition your clear stamps before the 1st use? If not, that may be the problem. Here's a great tutorial written by Leslie Miller on conditioning your clear stamps. Check it out.

Please let us know if you get the problem fixed, because it should stamp perfectly!!!

Hi there Helene:

It is so fun to have you talking to us from Spain - WOW!!! Flourishes is a company who produces beautiful stamps -- yes, many of them have the *swirly doodles* like you referred to, but there are also many that don't. Their entire line of product can be seen at www.flourishes.org. And they ship internationally!!!! How cool is that!!!!

Please keep your eyes open tomorrow as several new sets will be released with some really, really gorgeous images and there will be a lot of cards and projects being uploaded. You can click this link here, to see all of the current Flourishes uploads, and like I said, a lot more will be added throughout the day tomorrow -- so please check them out!!!

So nice to visit with you -- all the way from Spain!!! Hope you come by again to say HI!!!
