TLC161 - Flap Fold Cards (3/24/08)
Hi everyone,
I was so excited when Beth asked me to be guest hostess for the challenge for today! I found this tutorial by Rose Ann Reynolds in the Scor-Pal February *webzine,* and I thought it looked fun and simple. Scor-Pal gave its permission for me to use the tutorial (rather than reinvent the wheel).
I had two supply challenges as I tried some samples, so I thought I would pass them on. I had to (or at least that's what my DH thinks) purchase a bigger circle cutter than I currently had in my supplies. I chose the Cutter Bee Circle Scissor Plus. After cutting one of my fingers, and making mistakes with several pieces of cardstock, I finally figured it out. (Just a word of warning.) Also, I thought the Basic Grey magnetic snaps would be a *snap* to find. Around *these parts* they are nonexistent. I have used them before, and they are fabulous.
Seeing as there would be people in my same boat, I wanted to offer several options so no one needed to opt out of the challenge. For the circle, a large plastic lid might work just fine. In my sample, I made three different cards using three different closure options. (My blog has most of the specs for these cards.) Of course, a Scor-Pal is also an optional tool. The rest of the design is totally up to you, and I cannot wait to see what you create.

You can also upload your work as part of the Technique Spotlight gallery, under Flap Cards (Thanks, Beate!)
Some basic rules of engagement:
1. Check out the tutorial and the samples. Let your imagination take over.
2. Post your submission in the gallery. Please include TLC161 in your keywords with NO SPACES.
3. It is helpful, but not required, to post a reply to this thread with a link to your submission.
4. As part of the stamping community, if you have some free time, please comment on cards you see for this technique. It's always nice to hear from other creative geniuses.
5. Post as often as you like. No time limits are made on challenges. Have fun with it!

Hmm, looks like fun, plus a good way to use some more patterned paper! I will put my thinking cap on while I clean the kitchen and be back later to play!

That was fun! I wasn't sure I was going to be able to finish though... but DH saved the night by finding velcro in one of our many junk drawers. IRL, the reds and chocolates match... I wish I could take better photos.
Here's my card. TFL!

Awesome challenge
I have been itching to make one of those! Thanks for giving me the push to do so.
Bad picture again. I will retake it in the morning. Now I need to hit my pillow. It's almost midnight here. 5:50 a.m. will come way to early.

Hi, everyone...JoLynn thanks for the fantastic challenge! I REALLY need a BUNCH of Thank You cards for the upcoming months...My mom is not improving, and now we are facing LONG TERM care...Not really something anyone wants to hear on Easter...
So, I made this for one of the WONDERFUL, CARING nurses assigned to my mother.
Here is today's submission:

Well, here's the card I made:
Flap Fold Burgandy Inside
Flap Fold Burgandy Outside
Not really happy with the end result, but hey, I gives me something to improve on in the future!!!! I do LOVE the style of card though and the challenge (just not happy with my effort at it!!!!)

JoLynn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how totally ironic is this challenge. I do tea parties and the one this coming Saturday..I'm making my menu card in the shape of a purse. This flap card is one of the styles of purses. When you open it the menu is inside. It's a birthday tea for my friend's daughter who is 40. We have a wonderful Victorian House we host our teas in. Will be back later with my samples.

Hope I can find time tonight to try this. DD's OM team is in the final stretch before State Finals in Binghamton this weekend. I'm the coach, so between work and OM practices Stamping takes a back seat. Whaaaaaaaaaa.
