Default TLC153 - Dahlia Fold (01/28/08)

I am so excited to be a guest host for this week's Try a New Technique Challenge.

A couple of months ago, I came across this gorgeous card by Shadow Mill. In her description, Shadow Mill mentioned that she used the "Dahlia" fold. I had never heard of it before so I searched on the internet for directions. I found this great website with directions and pictures too!

For the Dahlia fold you need 8 circles. The circles can be any size--just the tinier they are, the harder they are to fold. I found that the 1 3/8" circle punch makes a great size to work with. When folded, the 1 3/8" circles make a Dahlia flower that is just shy of 3" across.

Examples:
My Card
I also made an Origami Box with a Dahlia Flower on top

When uploading, please use the keyword TLC153.

TLC153 Gallery Submissions (I hope this link works. If not, I'll fix it. Just let me know)

Thanks for playing and have fun! I can't wait to see what you create.

Hey am I the first poster???

Wow! this looks like fun. And Nestabilities circles should make the cutting fast. But my eyelids are waaaay too droopy to figure this out tonight.

Gorgeous! I've tried a little tea bag folding but wasn't too successful - those directions look easy to follow and what a beautiful result. Can't wait to try it when I get home tonight!
