Default A tip for using the paper backing from SU die cut stamps

This just dawned on me this morning. I am sure I did not come up with it but I did create a short tutorial on my blog to show how it is done.

I used the paper backing sheet from my DIE CUT Snowburst stamp set to create a shadowed image for one of the snowflakes.

You can see the tutorial and finished card on my blog HERE

Thanks for looking!!

Great idea! The custom background gives the snowflake a little more "presence" when it's needed. TFS!

You could also use the backing from the stamp itself as a mask...
I like your idea too

I've been keeping all of my paper backing from the die cut sets in with the set, only I've been thinking of using them as masks.

A use for the paper backing on SU background stamps is to use them to hold the little "inchies" or card candy (pre-made focal points) until you're ready to use them or give them away. Makes a nice little gift to stick a piece in with a card that has maybe 4 of them stuck on. Your recipient will love you!

Barb - Love the card. Thanks for the tip. I just received my order with a couple of sets from the mini. I'll have to keep the backing.

Thumbs up

I just left you a message on your blog.

I had thought about doing something like this with mine. I hate to throw away things like this... cause you never know what you can do with it.

And you have provided a very good reason not to throw away your papers.

It's also like the Chipboard die cuts. I save both postive and negative So I can use the Negative side again and again.

So many creative ideas...To play with. Thinking outside the box is wonderful!

Just last night I was cutting out my new Time Well Spent set and thought, "hey! you should keep the cut out part of the flower in case you want to mask it and put flowers behind and ahead of each other". Wow I wish I would have thought of this earlier instead of having to stamp the image and cutting it out each time I want to mask.

Great minds think alike! LOL. I saved all the paper backing from stamp sets I got from the Holiday catty, just like you, so I can use as masks.

Here's one that I masked with the paper backing from Triptych.
