Am I the only one that is "stampamajig" challenged?
This is my second one...not because I wore the first one out, but because I could never "get it" so I sold the first one. Then I read another thread that so many people said they can't stamp without it. I don't usually consider myself so inept, but this tool drives me crazy. Is it just me?
Nope..not just you. I can't seem to get mine to work either. :( I know it is something simple that I am doing wrong, but I just cannot figure out what it is!!! LOL

Just keep practicing on scrap paper. At first it seems hard to use, but before long you will wonder how you stamped without it. I love mine and never put it away.
I use it so it looks like a T.
Put the image sheet in so the top left corner is in the corner of the T.
Stamp the image sheet by putting the block of the stamp in the same corner as the image sheet.
Place the image sheet over your paper that you want to stamp.
Line up the image where you want it.
Place the T back so the image sheet is in the corner again.
Remove the image sheet, leaving the T guide in place.
Place the stamp back in the T corner, and stamp.
Does that make any sense at all? It is super easy once you get the hang of it. I could try taking pictures for you if you like?
Don't feel bad about having a problem with it. I had it quickly demo'd to me but I couldn't figure it out either. Finally, my sister showed me -- step by step -- how to use it; and guess what, it's really easy! I must be more of a hands-on person; because, after I did it once myself, it was a snap. See if you can get someone to sit with you and do it. Good luck!
I have been wanting to get one of these, as it annoys me to stamp and realize I just lined something up wrong. Sounds like it just takes some practice to get used to then...
I love mine - could not line anything up without it. The only time I ever have a problem with it is if I am trying to stamp on a very small piece of paper. If the paper is so small that the stampamajig can not hold it in place you will have problems. Start out with large paper and you will get the hang of it much faster!
I have never liked the stampamajig and I have been stamping for 8 years. It really isn't for everyone. If you are doing fine without it then you might not need it. Now that all my stamps are unmounted or clear I know exactly where I am stamping. It is great!
I had trouble figuring it out too. Then a friend showed me how and since I seem to be a visual learner I have not had trouble since. Maybe your demo or another club member could help you out.

I couldn't figure it out either. This is where having a brick and mortar store or a demonstrator is worth $$!! I only figured it out when the staff at a LSS demonstrated it for me. Then it was a major duh moment!!!

The key is to use the corner of the T and but your stamp up in there in order to slide that stamp down on your clear sheet. Then, when you line it up where you want it to go, keep the T steady and slip away the clear sheet. You can put a small strip of repositionable tape under your SAMJ to keep it from slipping.
Just a tip, instead of cleaning off the piece of plastic that comes with it and constantly cleaning it off...use a discarded piece of thick clear plastic I've cut into a rectangle to stamp my image using stazon ink and the SAMJ. (I use the plastic from a Cuttlebug embossing folder or any clear plastic "trash".)
Then, you can keep that image in your set box and never have to clean anything off or repeat that step when you use it again!!! You just pull out your pre-stamped image sheet, put it where you want it on your CS, put the SAMJ down and line it up to the top left hand corner, remove the sheet, line your stamp itself up into the corner of the SAMJ and stamp with your choice of ink!
I find that I must move just alittle because mine is off. Has anyone had that problem? Could I use temp. glue on the "T" to hold it?
I had a bit of a problem like that. Then I realized that I needed to stamp the image with the same side up. Since my images are not exactly centered on the block, if I turn the stamp without realizing it, the image is off.
Thank you for this sharing this site!! On the last page of the tutoral, there are some helpful hints. #2 is the solution to the problem I post just a few minutes ago. Don't know why I did not think of it
I heard about the SAMJ for years, but couldn't understand HOW the darn thing worked. Then at my Upline's monthly meeting a few years ago, she demonstrated how it works. That's all it took. I totally got it and ordered it right away.
I've now taught my 10 yo DS how to use it and I think he has it mastered better than I do!!!
I have only had my samj for a week and first couple of times I used it after the demo I got I was scratching my head but then it clicked.....now I know what I'm doing its a great tool..... and yes I have slightly moved it a couple of times but I guess its just practise
Hmmm, another item that has been lost in my stamp chaos. I never really tried it and had forgotten I had it. Hopefully it will see the light of day soon.
Mine has been sitting on my desk for a month while i stare at it.. lol..can't figure it out either..but of course i knew "i had to have it"..lol
loves ya

Nope, not just you -- I'm stampamajig simple myself!
And what is REALLY frustrating about it is that when I'm watching my demo, I have no problem using it. When I'm flying solo, can't use the darn thing to save my life. UGH!
I just wanted to add that I use my Stampamajig all the time BUT I place the "T" towards me (so the handle will be facing up/away from my body). I can't do it with the T up!! Soooo....maybe try using the "T" in this position and it might work out better for you!!
I am totally a "looser" when it comes to the stampamajig. I mean.. I am a pretty smart woman, educated, lots of common sense... but then... I just can't figure out that thing!! My demo has taught me ... twice. and when my friend BSDemonstrators heard that I couldn't use it ... she was determined to show me too!! And, when they actually walk me through it ... I get it,and it even is simple, however, the second they walk away... I get "stuck" and can't remember what to do next!!!! LOL
I know that it would be great to learn how to use it and if I just did it a few times it would be no problem... but, hey, I'm stubborn!! :-) Hahaha

It's a beautiful thing!
I was trying to figure out how to 'save' my stamped image on the imaging sheet, so saving on plastic scraps is a great option for me.
there will always be certain stamps that will always need the samj, and saving the 'test' image will eliminate the first couple steps!
thanks for the idea! i will keep the 'test' image with the stamp set!
I got the hang of mine right away, and I love it. Here is how I do it:
1. Stamp your image on the plastic.
2. Place the stamped plastic exactly where you want your stamped image.
3. Position the SAMJ like an upside-down T, to the left of the plastic.
4. Do NOT move the plastic. Butt the SAMJ right against the plastic.
4. Remove the plastic, and replace it with the stamp.
I hope this makes sense. It works for me every time.
I also have to mention (in addition to all of the other good tips/instructions)... Make sure you hold the SAMJ in place while butting the stamp against it to actually stamp on your card. I also have to use mine with the "t" closest to me.
