Lightbulb Cute Lanterns

Does anyone have a template/instructions for the cute lanterns that Shelli made?

Its a really good way to demo the DS paper.

Thanks in advance.

She didn't use a pattern - just strips of paper - 1" x 12 I think. She punched them with the cropadile and threaded ribbon thru. I didn't write down the directions as they will be posted on the website (I think) after second session.

I've already made several. Quick, easy and cute! Hopefully I can explain this to make sense.

Take 12 strips of 1x6 paper and stack them on top of each other. Punch holes at either end with your Cropodile. Knot a piece of ribbon and thread it through one end so the knot will show at the bottom of the lantern. Thread it through the other hole. Pull so you start getting a "U" shape with the papers. Knot the other end close to the lantern, but make sure you have enough extra ribbon on it so you can hang it. Then fan out the strips of paper to make the lantern.

I hope this makes sense. It took me about 5 minutes to put them together and now have them hanging up all over my house!

Thanks for the great instructions. I can actually understand what you did before I have paper in hand. Gotta try this.

You called them lanterns. Do you put a light bulb in the middle or are they just decoration?

I was just looking at Chrissie's pictures and in the Day 3 link there are a couple of pictures of these lanterns.

This is a link to the thread to get to her pictures.

These are cute! I tried to make one with 12 - 1 x 12" pieces but the pieces weren't as close together as the small one. I think doing 24 - 1 x 12" pieces will look better then you get a bigger lantern!

I tried doing the bigger one, I believe that 24 strips will work, I don't recommend more than that because it kind of overlaods the whole look. I put a score line at 6 inches on mine, gave it a different look.

You know, having looked at the picture of these, I'll bet you COULD put one of those little battery tealights inside-they're small & light, and obviously no flame! HMMMMMmmmmm...... an idea?

I thought about that too, but, remember there is a strip of ribbon running thru the center of the lantern, so battery tealite cant sit in the middle.
