I am not sure if this is the correct place to post (first timer) I am teaching a scrapbooking/papercrafting class for summer school this year and thought it would be fun to make ATC's. My question is, what size are they generally and what do you include (name, recipe, etc.)? Any help would be great! Thanks so much!
I think that ATC's are generally the same size as baseball cards so that they are easy to make several from a sheet of cardstock and are just large enough to get some neat artwork on them. I have wanted to make some for a while, but I'm not all that confident on my craft skills (I can't draw so I stamp, lol).
There are only two rules when it comes to ATC's that I know about.
1) the size is always 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
2) they should only be traded / collected ~ not sold
The information on the back generally includes ~ name, location (city, state), e-mail address, date (month & year or just year), 1 of 1 or 2 of 5, and it can sometimes include the medium used on the card ~ watercolor, collage, for example.
You can get 10 atc's out of an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of paper. I like to make mine out of watercolor paper because it is sturdier and won't warp if I use water. On the 8 1/2 inch side, cut strips 3 1/2, 2 1/2 and 2 1/2. Then each 2 1/2 inch piece gets cut at 3 1/2 inches 3 times. The 3 1/2 inch piece gets cut at 2 1/2 inch 4 times. You will have a little piece left over.
They are a lot of fun to make. In the beginning, I thought I'd have trouble making something that small. But I was wrong. Just jump in. What's the worst that can happen?
