I have to see if there are others out there willing to admit they are not into the scalloped punch craze. I think some things with it are cute but the look of it is just too Frilly and Frou Frou for me.
It reminds me of the mid 80's to mid 90's country look. But hey, leggings under skirts are back, I guess this is too.

I like the look, but then I like girly things. I'm sure this fad will pass, but I'm enjoying it now. It's so easy with the punches and the CB.
I enjoy seeing all the different styles, but I'm personally not into some of the looks. Our stamp group is very diverse, and we learn from each other, and each have our own styles. That's what makes it so interesting. I'm sure you will find many others that don't like the look.

Yes, I LOVE that we're so diverse on here. I'm a big fan of the Doodles and Bella's and I know there are some passionate dislikers of those styles too.
I think it all goes back to me not being a girly girl. I remember when I had trouble adding ribbon to cards because it looked to "girly" to me. SCS has changed my mind on that front and I'm now an official ribbon junkie.

I have a scallop punch from a few years ago. I am not sure I am ready to drag it back out again.

Now that just sounds like an invitation for others to convert you once again! LOL
Personally, I really like the scallops. They really open up a lot of additional creative opportunities. I wish I had some. I do my scallops by hand with a knife. I've seen some that have been worked into a card beautifully and complement very nicely.
That being said . . . . . . . . There's something for everyone, but everything is not for everyone.

I would never say never. At the moment I am using a corner punch, which I haven't used in years LOL
I like the punches a bit but I can get the same look with my Cricut. I don't think I could own more than 2 scallops and definitely not 20 of them!! They are huge!! Plus, I like my cards to look a bit different from each other and I think that if you used those punches on every project they might all look similar.
Like it was said earlier by Wenchie, "There's something for everyone, but everything is not for everyone." I love them and just got 3 of them one at a time!

I just bought the giga oval and I really like it. I probably won't buy others. I have seem cute things done with the ovals. I won't use it for very project, but I wanted it in my inventory "just in case".

I personally love the scalloped look! I own two of the giga punches, and I enjoy everything I've made with them. The world is vast and diverse. It's OK if I love the scallops and you don't!
I love the cards people are making with the scallops, but I don't think I would use them myself. I agree that it's just too "girlie" for my style. I passed on the bellas and the doodles for the same reason. I'm just patiently waiting for a trend that will fit my personal style better, and in the meantime I enjoy looking at what everyone else is creating.
I like the cards that others have done, but I can't get myself to actually buy the punches. Holy buckets are they ever expensive! I actually held one the other day but put it back. I was at the LSS with a 40% off coupon. I was trying to justify spending the $$ by thinking about how often I would use this. To me, if I have to think about that, then I don't need it just yet. (Note that I said yet.)

I like them. They are good to fill up space in the middle of a card if you are using a small stamp I do not have a lot of large images and I have trouble leaving lots of white space. I do not usually buy the newest things so for me it was a big leap.

I like them a lot and have the giga circle, oval and square. I don't have the smaller punches, though. I use a template and cut the smaller shapes to fit into them.
Check this out for a darling little "purse" you can make with the giga oval scalloped punch:
I bought the oval and circle punches. I think I might have used them once, then let them sit in the drawer. I finally figured out I am just not a circle/oval person. I just can't make them work, even when casing someone else's card. However, I will be all over the recatangle scalloped punches, when they go on sale at Joann's.
I see what you are saying about them looking "dated". They do have a bit of that look to them. Having said that I do like the look of them but don't feel the need to own a bunch of them!

You know, I wasn 't crazy about the scallop punches at first, but...they are starting to grow on me! It usually takes me awhile to warm up to trends, and by the time I do, the next hot new trend is out! I can't keep up!!
TOTAL fan here. Have had many of my punches for years so I'm not a new fan. These punches have been around for a long time but yes, as trends go, they come and go. I have definitely gotten my moneys worth out of them, though.

I agree with you. I like the more clean-cut, contemporary look. I'm quite a boring person and crafter, I suppose.
Yup had one before it became so popular! I think that it's kinda funny though to what extents everybody's going through just to get one though! I love mine and I think that they really accentuate certain type of cards. Each to it's own I guess.

Had mine for at least 4 years, possibly even 5, I think, before they became popular--when they were only available as button punches. Like, you, Novell, I've most definitely gotten my money's worth out of them.
Trendy? Sure! Trends cycle in and out all the time. I liked 'em before they wuz trendy, and I'll like 'em after they iz no m'oah, cuz I just *loves* scallops and always did, so it really doesn't matter to me!
As stamping "fashionistas", perhaps the only real question for us is:
"Does this punch make my butt look big?"
Bwa ha haaaaaaa!!! geeze, I crack myself . . . :p
OK, I definitely need some Starbucks . . .

OK Julie, This made a vision of that comercial where a girl is eating a bun for breakfast and then she can't get off the bus cause her butt is too big. I just pictured these huge punches on a butt not able to make it through the doors at JoAnn's, bwahahahaha! The punches are gianormus after all :-D

I have a good friend who feels the same way. She thinks that some of the cards are cute but they are just not for her. That's okay. Everyone has different taste which is why we have so many different things to choose from.
On the other hand, there may be a million different things to choose from but some of us have to have it all. LOL!
Thanks for feeling comfortable expressing your opinion.
(BTW- My 11 year old daughter just asked for a pair of leggings to wear with her mini skirt! LOL! Your comment made me giggle. You're right, if you keep it around long enough, it will come back!)
Hugs,
Gina K.

See, I am as tom-boy as they come, and I *love* the scallops! I have two sizes of squares, and would love the ovals, but they are so costly in Canada. Maybe I can find them next time I go home to Chicago.

Julie, you are so stinkin' adorable! Wish I knew you in person, girl, cause every time I read one of your posts I end up on the floor laughing my 'punchy' butt off! And I LOVE that you even crack yourself up!!! Haaaa!

I'm the same way, Lindsay. It takes me a while to warm up to something different and then when I do, I just GOTS TO HAVE IT! I like the scallop punches for diversity, but I don't feel the need to use them on every card I make either. I'm just waiting for the next new trend to make me say 'I GOTS TO HAVE IT!'
It's funny, the ad at the top of this page right now is for Scalloped Punches from Paper Trey Ink! Ha ha!!
This is what pushed me over the edge to start the thread, lol. I thought..."I'm so sick of those frilly punches...but the ad is sure cute, I wonder who designs them...." Yeah that was my line of thought

ROTFL! Does this mean that I'm so far out of fashion I'm actually back in? And, if I cling to it, 10 years from now, I'll be back in again?
Altho, I SWORE due to cellulite migration, I'd never wear leggings again and I'm stickin' to it . . . ;)

I love my scalloped punches. My little girls love them too...I'll often punch out an image they've colored (i.e. Fishy Friends or the like). I'm still trying to find my 'style' as I've only just recently begun stamping regularly, but I don't use them on every card I make, so I don't think everything ends up being the same.
Julie, I know that whenever you pop up in a thread I'm going to ROFL. Thanks for the grins! ;)

ROTFL! Yup. That's what it means. And I saw your scalloped punches- they do NOT make your butt look big.
LOL!
Hugd,
