Default CC113: Shane's Wish

I am sure many of you have already heard about Shane - perhaps even sent him a card. But I thought it would make a neat challenge to pick some fun colors that could possibly be used for a nifty kid birthday card, hint hint!

Here is some more information about Shane and his wish.

http://www.shaneswish.com/index.php

And here is Shane's address!

Shane Bernier
PO Box 484
Lancaster, Ontario
K0C 1N0
Canada

CC113:

taken with teal

cool carribean ( or bashful blue)

marigold morning (or summer sun)

My sample:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...50172?cat=8368

Please put CC113 in your keywords section (and if you have more than one challenge use a comma to separate them) so we can find your card! If you need help uploading click here!

As always, I am open to suggestions for future color challenges! Please pm me if you have one. Including a sample is always appreciated! I will probably not respond, as I get several, but I save them for future reference!

Um...I don't know. I haven't sent him one before. Perhaps another challenge asked for them?

Practice, practice, practice!!!! We learn by copying others and then with practice we can see designs in everything! Just keep doing the challenges, it will help a ton!

I try taking a challenge and then choosing one element of another card that I want to include in mine. Then I go from there. That way you are using something to start with, but doing the rest on your own. You have a guide, but you don't copy.

But copying is ok too! So long as you give credit! You have to start somewhere!

Hi Shivani,
When I first started making cards it was the same for me. It took many months and many cards before I started to come up with ideas of my own. And in fact "my own" is still really just combining colors combinations and layouts and different ideas from lots of different cards and putting them together a little differently to make it "mine". So don't give up!! Just keep copying.. nothing wrong with that.. until one day you will be making a card and think to yourself, "Maybe I could make this pink rose a yellow sunflower instead." And then all of a sudden the card looks completely different than the one you were copying and it is all yours!!! Hang in there!
Happy Stamping.

Great Challenge, Emily! I've not heard of Shane before...I will ask my principal if we can do a school project to have all the kids send a card to Shane...that will be about 500! In the meantime...will complete my challenge after school today.

After reading your question and some of the answers, I have to agree wholeheartedly that the best way to get creative is by joining in with the challenges. I think we all start by casing cards, we need the practice, after a few weeks or months of doing that I started that challenges and couldn't believe how fast I started coming up with my own cards. Keep at it, you'll see. One day soon you'll come up with something and when someone comments on it, you'll proudly say, that's my own design, I didn't case. Good luck to you.

GREAT challenge, Emily! I don't have much time this morning so instead of making a quick card, I decided to email absolutely EVERYONE I know and forward Shane's request.

How perfect is his request to testify to the fact that paper encouragment works wonders to our emotional well being?! Gals, THIS is why we do what we do. Am I right?

Can't wait to play later. My kids will have to get in on this one, for sure.
