I know! As slow as I am it would take me all year to put one together!
I am embarrassed to say I never finished my calendar from 2007! I got through October and then life got so hectic that I never finished. I hope to actually finish one for 2008.

Cricut wishlist
I'd like to see a SPORTS cartridge with swimming, gymnastics, dance, rugged outdoorsy rock-climbing type stuff, skiing & all the usual ball-related sports.
I'd also like to see attactive, space saving storage for the cartridges. I use the snap-on ribbon holder and with 20 carts it's getting cumbersome.

Would you be willing to post a pic of what you store the carts in? I cannot picture what the snap on ribbon holder is.
And I agree on the sports cart! I would love to see cheerleading in that as well...as well as roller blades...

No need to be embarrassed - I understand completely!! Hopefully you'll get '08 done!

Beyond Birthdays has tons of stuff I'd use....the words, the present. Accent Essentials has all those lovely flowers, use a crimper to add some dimension and layer, layer layer! What about the fleurishes on Platin, use the letter o linked together to make wedding rings... or layers some multi-sizes of scalloped frames to make a wedding cake... and of course, lots of sparkle! HTH

Good Morning Everyone. I have a question and I hope someone will help me. I received a Cricut for Christmas. My husband helped me with it yesterday. We could not figure out how to get the hyphen to print. When we hit the shift key, it would not recognize it. Did we miss something? We were trying to print Happy B-Day. Thank you.
I am sure everyone has the carts that creativexpress.com has on sale, but they are selling specified carts for 37.50 each. Of course, since I don't really even "own" my Cricut yet...and literally have nothing...I had to buy 5 carts!!! (I got Jasmine, Base Camp, Stamped, MM, and Opposites Attract...how did I do?)
First off, how sad is it that I have purchased carts without even really "owning" the machine! (OK, we all know it is arriving with the sled and reindeer...but the concept is funny to me!)
And two, wasn't that a great deal!!
Oh, but I did not stop there: I also purchased 10 embossing folders for the C-Bug I don't have (yet!!!) either because they had a special on those too!!!
I think I need help of some sort...LOL!!
I'm new to this site and working my way through the posts. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! The cartridges are so expensive in UK that I have ordered 5 from USA ebay sellers - these should arrive late next week at the same time that my big bug comes from a UK shop! I was advised not to buy an american machine because of the difference in our electricity supplies and the warranty would not be valid. Never mind - the savings I have made on the carts makes up for the extra I have to pay for the machine!
I've got New Arrival, Joys of the Season, Jasmine, Tear Drop & Stretch Your Imagination coming - can't wait!!! I've had a day 'playing' with my friend's machine which is what convinced me to buy one - on special offer with the Design Studio!
Now all I need is a week off work - I'll have to develop a sickness bug that takes a long time to get over!!!
So glad I had this site recommended to me - I've had some great ideas from all the wonderful things posted in the galleries
Thanks to everyone for posting them and all the hints and tips.

Debbie
I am trying to make a 12x12 scrapbook page for a friend and I want it to look like a mat to place pictures underneath it. How do I sent the cricut to cut out the size rectangles/squares I want? There has to be a way!!!!
Hi. I am a new cricut owner and I was wondering what the best cart was for card making? I would love to create borders or scallop edges with this tool. Is that possible?

Thanks!
Storybook would probably be best for that. Paper Dolls is a great one for cardmaking along with - Zooballoo, Doodlecharms, and Stretch Your Imagination.
I think Doodlecharms was one of the first carts I got, because it could be used for so many different cards. I think Wild Card would be a great one, because in addition to the cards and envelopes you can make, it has sayings, a font, and iconts that could be a great addition to any card.
I'm thinking about buying the Opposites Attract cart. It's a cursive font cart.I was wondering does anyone own it and could tell me if I type in a message will it cut the letters connected? Or am I better off looking for other carts that have phrases? I guess what I'm saying is I don't want to have to glue a bunch of small letters together. Any help? Thanks
wow that is adorable!! with a 3 year old and another dd coming in about a month, I think it will be a must have in this house as well!

I have this one, and I really like it. If you don't have Design Studio to weld the letters together then you do need to cut the "tails" off and glue the letters together. But, it's a nice font, and the other fonts on the cart are good, too. I like to use the Opposite or Tall font with the cursive font for titles.
SOS I just bought Design Studio. Spur of the moment kinda thing. Now here's the ?, I thought the software let you use fonts that already are in you computer and off the web,but after reading the box I don't think that's how it works. It says you have to have the cartridge in before it will cut. So how can it work with the SVG(I think) files you can get from the internet. Should I take it back and invest in SCAL, or is that limited too? Help anyone out there.
I don't know about SCAL as I don't have it, but I think it is supposed to use SGV files. There is a new program called Make the Cut (MTC). I haven't used that one either, but it is supposed to use SGV files I think. Provocraft adds updates to the machines via the Design Studio software. Some of those updates block programs like SCAL. I guess if you never update the machine you won't be blocked from using SCAL.
I am considering buying either SCAL or MTC. Does anyone know if they can be used on more than one computer, such as my desk top and lap top? Also, does anyone have a comparison of the two. Which is easier to use, etc. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I just got my Cricut Expression on Friday. I have had company and some deadlines so I have only been able to read the manual and watch the video. I normally cut cardstock with my Sizzix so what blade depth should I use? and do any of you have any beginner do's and don'ts for me. I am hoping to work with it a little later this evening otherwise I will have to wait until after work Monday!!!!
Congrats on your new expression. My suggestion is to just play. Pressure and depth depend on what paper/cardstock you are cutting. I would start at 4 pressure and 3 depth and then adjust from there.
marilyn2222 thank you for the advise. I did try to cut some light weight DP just to play. It cut fine, but my paper stuck to the mat. I used the spatula but my paper curled and the detail cuts torn from attempting to remove it. I am planning on trying some card stock. Is the mat supposed to be so sticky? How do you deal with thin paper?

Sometimes they are too sticky! If you just walk your hands up and down your mat a coupole of times it will condition your mat so it is still sticky but not TOO sticky. And I have a great method to make your mats sticky again when it is not sticky enough that has had a lot of postive response. I haven't bought a new mat in FOREVER. You can check it out when you are ready: Making Cricut Mats Sticky Again
It is probably best to use cardstock and thicker stuff first when the mat is very sticky. Sometimes you need it that sticky. As the stickiness wears off you may want to try the paper again. Also, try using the spatula right away. It may help to put the spatula under the cut first befor peeling the rest of the paper away. Better luck next time. Keep playing. Also, what did you cut?
