Is this equivelant to chocolate chip bars with marshmallows baked in, I can't imagine what it tastes like, if there is marshmallow peeps in the recipe, how can you crumble over ice cream. I haven't tried this yet, because I'm not sure if I care for the graham crackers, so inquiring mind want opinions as to how it taste, thanks gals

I made some of these and they didn't turn out. They never hardened up into bars. I followed the recipe with the 1/2 cup of butter, but my batch was a huge, buttery mess. YUCK! I also baked these in a silicone pan and that may have had something to do with it. I've had never baked anything in it before.
Eventhough they were too oily, they did taste OK. I ate a couple spoonfuls and then threw them out. I'm going to try them again, but cut the butter in half to a 1/4 cup.
Has anyone else experienced this oilyness? I used a Blue Bonnet stick of margarine.

Here's a thread I started last year in the Food Section of SCS. There might be some info there that will help this recipe. It looks like they are the same but some others have been saying it might need MORE butter??? Anyway, hope this helps.....they sure are cute, even if the bars aren't that great LOL!

I just posted this on the peep thread in the Food section....just made a pan and thought this might help some out here.....
Okay, here what I did that might make a difference.
* I used real butter
* I used a Pampered Chef 8x8 (or is it 9x9?? It's their square baker) Stone dish to bake them in
* I baked them about 10 min. longer than the directions say....be sure that the peeps are melted and bubbly.
* I let them cool for a good 1/2 hour before cutting them apart.
They did come out in bars...I cut two rows just to make sure.....a few crumbled here and there but you could def. pick them up and eat them in a mostly bar fashion.
Okay....now.... who is going to come over and eat these with me??? I mean...I can't eat an entire pan by myself!! We are talking about rainbows today at daycare so maybe we can eat them and I'll just call them Rainbow Snacks....they are pretty colorful!!!
Does that help anyone????

Oh, and I did cut the peeps pretty small.....about in pieces 1/2 the size of their ears....cut their ears in half. Maybe even a tad smaller. Does that make sense?

I made peeps in a jar. See my tags here: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I really liked Jamis bunny peeps Gallery at Splitcoaststampers I searched the forums for the recipe and info on these and complied a list of tips. See comments below:
PEEPS IN A JAR (Easter Bunny Smores)
For 3 jars youll need:
3, 1 qt. widemouth jars
2 1/3 bags m&ms (need 3 bags for 4-1 quart jars)
1 box graham crackers (1 sleeve for each)
24 peeps (8 for each jar)
1 cup brown sugar (1/3 c for each)
Yield: 9 to 12 bars
Ingredients
1-1 qt. wide mouthed jar [A wide mouthed jar is easier to work with, (about $8.00/dz. at Wal-Mart) but the narrow one will work using a knife and spoon to pat down the ingredients].
1 sleeve graham cracker crumbs
8 marshmallow peep bunnies
1-1/4 cups Easter M & M's
1/3 cup brown sugar
Reduce 1 sleeve graham crackers to crumbs using a rolling pin and a gallon ziplock bag. Layer of the crumbs in a 1 qt. jar. Place 8 marshmallow bunny peeps standing up, facing out around the inside of the jar pressing them against the glass, but dont squash them.
Carefully, spoon remaining crumbs in the center of the jar to support the bunnies, pressing down to keep it snug.
On top of this pour 1 c. Easter M&Ms.
Spoon 1/3 c. br. Sugar into center of M&Ms gently pressing with a spoon.
Decorate the lid of the jar -tie ribbons around the neck of the jar add a gift tag with baking instructions.
Directions: Enjoy eating some of the M&Ms to reduce the amount a little as desired. Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the bunnies into bits with kitchen scissors or a knife. Return the bunny bits to the mixture and mix well. Melt c. plus 2 T butter, add 1-t. vanilla. Pour this over the dry ingredients, mixing well. Pat into a greased 8 or 9 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 for 15-25 minutes. Cool 1/2 hour then cut into bars. *Option 1- leave bunnies whole; combine remaining ingredients and place the bunnies on top; then bake as directed. *Option 2- omit the vanilla, bake and serve warm over vanilla ice cream or use blender to mix with ice cream like a Blizzard.

Anyone try these with regular sugar?
I made a few batches back in the spring and now can't remember which turned out better.

quick tip....I had bad luck w/putting brn sugar on top layer. putting smaller layer on m&m's under peeps, then put brown sugar in the middle of peeps then dump rest of m&m's on top of that, I found that it worked better for me.

U cut them into bars. Eat them warm they're not as good cold. One poster said they were good w/a scoop of ice cream.

This was a really long time ago that you asked, but the PC square baker is 9x9. And I don't have one anymore! :( Hmmmm, I think I know how to remedy that!

another cute idea: a no bake version. I used peanuts and pretzels and spring m&m's with 1bunny peep in a tall baby food jar (stage 3 size) you can use any thing you want like trail mix or whatever else. just stand the peep up and fill with mix. I stamped a little tag and tied a ribbon around the lid. a great small token gift then and you can make lots of them for little cost. also good to make for Spring project with small kids. makes a really cute Easter or Spring gift for teachers. Just be careful of allergies with nuts.
