Hopefully the retreat was fabulous! Now we will both have to get in gear. LOL I am done with Emmaus for a while...So this event will be gaining all my attention.

Default POST #2 HAS BEEN UPDATED

but I need to check my mail and emails again to make sure I didn't miss anyone's information or payments. I will do that tomorrow. Thanks ladies...Let me know if your info is missing or your payment has not been acknowledged. Like I said I have not checked emails and I need to go through the mail again. The guys piled it up while I was gone so I want to make sure I didn't miss anything. ;)

Good morning ladies. For those of you who are coming late to the stampede we have a request. Could you find someone to bring your swap with them at the start time? Then we could have it already set up and people could be utilizing that station then when you come, you can play catch up with everyone else. If you don't have someone to bring it with them, PM me and I can get it from you sometime that week or find someone that lives near you to get it.

My other suggestion is for those of you who are worried about getting this amount of swaps completed in this time frame. The swaps will be in baggies with all of the embellishments that you need. Go to each station and stamp the image and anything else that you couldn't do at home. Then take a picture of the original with your digital camera. Take the swap home and finish it there.

Hope that helps a little.

Good info. I didn't know I needed to put the swaps in baggies. I will make sure I do that. I can also pick up or bring someone's swaps if they are running late. I work in Creve Coeur and live in the City, let me know if I can help out.

Good Morning!

I'm going to buy supplies for my project this evening, and I was wondering if we had a final count yet?

There are 44 names in post 2, but I think only 40 of them have sent in registration. Am I safe if I plan for 44?

Thanks!

Thanks for the baggie info! I didn't know that either (I'm a newbie!!) Tracy I just wanted you to know I dropped a check in the mail for you this weekend!

Since I will be running a little late, I was wondering if I could take you up on your offer Connie and maybe drop my stuff off at your house for you to take in for me? I work in U city (down by the loop, and live in Fenton). Could you pm me if that's OK with you and we can figure out where I can drop them off so you have them. ([email protected])
Thanks everybody!!!!

Thanks Randi...
One more thought...if you are unable to take photos of the cards...don't worry they will get posted on SCS after the event. Plus, all of the photos that are taken at the event will be posted and shared here on SCS.
We used baggies last year and I thought that the information was in the directions but maybe not. The baggies help keep things straight and keeps your creations nice and clean.
I will send out a reminder to the group concerning baggies. Also, the # will be finalized by the weekend but I would agree that 44 should be a "safe" number to cut for...thanks for the questions and for helping each other out ladies.

Default I KNOW!

44 swaps is crazy. I have to admit, I have cut about 41 (odd number, but that is what I had paper for). I am secretly hoping that will be enough. If it is not, I better find some more green galore cardstock ;)

I think it is cool so many people are coming.

Connie,
I have a feeling that will be a safe # to cut for...but don't forget to bring the extra cards for donation and such...I think we had plus 2 but I will have to verify. It is on the reg form. hth

I will most likely be the one finishing up my swaps while Bunny (dh) is driving us to Arnold to visit Sherri and Steve. lol Yep...procrastination is the name of my ugly game. Actually it is just that I try to do a zillion things all at once and run out of time but ummm we shall name it the p word. lol

Do a few at a time.

I am used to making 75-80 of a project to give away as an agape gift for Emmaus. So, 44 is nothing to me.

Randi-
I SO appreciate the ICKY booming weather...it has been a sound and light show going on here all evening. Lights on...lights off...I was lucky enough to finish dinner and actually eat before it got really yucky. Thankfully, the power has just been flashing on and off from time to time. It seems to be slowing down now...DH was ready to send us to the tub earlier...dog and all! lol

Not saying a word about the number. LOL Remember me the swap crazed child that did 221 6X6 pages for an SU swap last year and I had 24 hours to get them done. Boy that was a fun 24 hours. NOT. LOL I think I can handle 44. LOL ;)

I know this has been brought up already, but is there any chance on splitting the group in half? 22 Cards is financially easier to deal with than 44. I will be there no matter what, but just getting my opinion out there. Thanks for listening!

We did that last year, and some people were done way early. So they decided to swap with everyone.
Besides when you see all the cards and other things people make for the swap, you will want to do them all.

Default concerning the quantity of swaps...

Honestly, I am forced to disagree...it has been proven in the past by many demo's that financially if you are already cutting, a double quantity turns out to be not much more expensive. To me if you are a true scrapper/stamper then you have most everything on hand anyway maybe not in the same color but hey...that too would be fine. Use up your old paper supplies. If the projects are similar but the colors are different that is totally fine by me. I may do the same myself just for a bit of variation. KWIM?

Hope that didn't sound snarky but that too is just my opinion and as most of these chicka's already know I ATTEMPT TO PLEASE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE...too much so most of the time.

ANYWHO...to ease your mind once my Mom leaves today, the gals and I will work out a solution for those that can't do or choose not to do the full amount for whatever reason.

I know it sounds like quite a few but the COOL thing is you ARE ONLY CUTTING and PREPPING not putting them together. Again, please don't take this as rude or snarky just in a rush and no time to proof but I did want everyone to know we are working on it....Hugs and Blessings to all!

It does go from 11 sheets to 22 sheets just for the card bases so I don't know how that can't be too much more, it's still double LOL

But it is only .10 per card base if you are doing standard A2 cards ;)

I guess where the issues would be are the embellishments. For me it's no big deal, but I'm not using SU embellishments LOL.

My thing is the time restraints. At 10 minutes per card we're talking AT LEAST 7 hours and 20 minutes just for cards, that's not including the hour meet and greet, an hour for lunch & dinner, the White Elephant game, the Stampin' Olympics (or whatever we're calling them this time ), and just the chatty nature of ladies in large groups! LOL I just don't want to feel rushed for the whole day KWIM?

I don't really care either way, I still plan on making the full amount, but I did have to buy another pack of CS, (ok so I did get 2 more stamp sets too ;) ) LOL It's all good, we'll have a great time anyway, I just know where people are coming from.

I understand and I want you all to know that you are doing a great job planning this! And to get such a great response is awesome! Just a little overwhelming. ;)

I will do the full 44, but I am going to pre-stamp my images. Just think about it, 44 cards, 10 minutes per card is 7.5 hours!! I am going to try and make mine as simple as possible, and include 1/4 sheet instructions in my baggies in case people want to just grab my bag and do it later.

And I was thinking I would need more of my DP, but I realized I only need 1/4 sheets and I already have enough. So I am cool. I just need one more thing and then I am ready!

Just my plea is everyone make their card as easy as possible.

Thanks for listening!

I don't want to sound snarky either, but doubling my embellishments adds $20 onto my cards. Just the original embellishments. So now I have to either drop what I was going to do or find something cheaper.

Wow, 44 cards/projects to do - that's a LOT. Especially in addition to all the other *fun* stuff you great ladies have planned! Can we get a Starbuck's cart to come and supply us with large amounts of caffeine?!? LOL!! I AM a caffeinated being, after all!
Do we have to be out of the church at 6 or 7? Or can we stick around till like 10?
My only concern is that I've coordinated a shoebox swap before w/ only about 25 participants and only lunch and we still didn't get everything done. I still have cards/projects from that swap that I took home and just never completed. ...just a thought...
I KNOW how much work is involved with planning/coordinating an event like this and I'm VERY appreciative of all you ladies' efforts!!

I do have one suggestion, no matter what we end up doing

I took a pic of my finished card and shrunk it down so I could fit 9 on a piece of copy paper. I'm going to take the file to Kinkos or someplace similar and have them print out 5 or 6 copies, so I can add the actual image of my card to each packet. That way everyone has the same image to go by if they can't get the cards done on time.

Just a thought to help make it all easier for everyone

Ooh...now that's a cool idea! Saves everyone from having to try to take photos and/or wait for the projects to show up on SCS! Hmmm...think I'll do that, too!

My hubby is to be gone 179 days. He left here the 1st of Jan, but that doesn't count. His days don't start til he reports to his destination. Really SUCKS! But we are now half over. THANK GOD! Can you guess wher me frustration comes from?
