AND, here you are pointing out this GOD SEND tip!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Now, I'll have to paint my rolling pin bright green and pretend it's a Cuttlebug!!

What a great idea!!
Thanks for sharing! I have been admiring the Cuttlebug machine, but can't justify purchasing it. The folders are very reasonabally priced, and I have a rolling pin just gathering dust!

It works!!! I just tried it and got great results! I am keeping my machine, but now I can mail my sister those duplicate embossing folders I got. She is dying for a CB but cannot begin to afford it now.

Thanks so much for sharing!! I've been buying stuff to use with my Big shot when I finally order it, and am so happy to be able to use my embossing folders now instead three weeks from now! I don't have a rolling pin but nabbed the spindle from our paper towel holder thingy that's broken anyways, and it works too. My hands are a little sore now, tho, but I have three embossed BGs!! TFS!!!!!

What a great idea. Makes you wonder if a pasta machine would work also?

Yep, just got it to work with dies, but you have to make sure you keep the rolling pin level with even pressure.

I just tried this with a fiskars texture plate, cardstock, & plummers gasket. Got a pretty decent impression. Need to work on my rolling technique for more even coverage. Maybe play around with different foams & rubber to see what gives best impression.

Bless you for posting! Until I went low-carb after the holidays, baking was a hobby and pie, one of the 4 food groups. At least now I'll have a use for my rolling pin! Very cool discovery!

Thanks for the idea! I'm going to wait for my coupon in tomorrow's paper and then run to Michaels to get some folders! I have a $25 gift card to spend, too. I'm going to have a lot of fun!

I would say to try it first. It takes a bit of time & muscle. It would be a shame to not use the dies because it was to much work to bother.

this is the kind of information and sharing that makes these forums worthwhile. Thanks for sharing this great idea... I've been debating over the Cuttlebug or Big Shot, but now I'll have more money to spend on SU products!!!!

Oh, but the Big shot still does the die cuts. Hmmm, wonder if a rolling pin can handle die cuts ... ! lol

well...I just went to the store and bought a folder...tried the rolling pin method...8 times....
Not really impressed. It will do I suppose. I had to really wet the paper, both sides...stand on a stool to get leverage over the folder...It makes an impression..but not as good as the one I saw demoed in the store.
I'm open to suggestions...but this makes me feel better about buying the cuttlebug.

I don't spray the cardstock. Just lightly mist it with your mister. Leaves no watermarks at all. I can get results equal to the CB with this method. Don't let the cardstock dry before you roll over it.
