I will write a tutorial for Splitcoast soon. But I needed some pictures for it right now and the next month of tutorials is already planned out.
Thank you for the link, Beate!
I figured out the fan fold on my own BUT forgot about keeping it bound together. LOL Your pictures on the link gave me another *ah ha* and *DUH* moment..
A bunch of you have ordered tons of coasters. So tell me, are they paper, and are you going to stamp on them? What about when they get wet, will that work?
Can you emboss on them and they will be ok?
Are you doing these for gifts, with initials, etc....Enlighten me!
I waiting for the last order from Jennifer but also purchased some from StarlitStudios on eBay. I do not know if these are the same as what was ordered here at SCS.
I am doing mini accordian books - struggling with it because of my senior moments...but love Beate's method of creating a spine for the book.
I want to make friendship booklets and what I hear is called: Circle Journals now.
Please correct me if I am wrong for those in the know - but for this old timer (not stamper, just old - they look like what I remember being called SLANG or SLAM books. You pick a topic or list some vitals and the book is passed around amongst your friends for completion of their info/pages.
They can also be used for sign in books for parties - with well wishes for baby-to-be, bride-to-be, retiree, etc. Or a collection of funny things your child, grandchild has said. Limitless potential and a good way, for me, to use some old DSP I have.
I am subscribing to the thread to hear from others as well.
Thanks again to Beate for the pictorial tutorial...

One of the coolest things about this mini album is that it only takes TWO coasters! Now that I have several hundred on order, I've got to start hoarding!
A lot of the women that ordered coasters from me are SU(or CTMH or TAC) demos and are using these for projects at stamp camps. So they need a lot for all their customers. Many women are making gifts with them. I figure, if I am going to order something that is so cheap($.03 each) and yet so versatile, I want to order enough the first time that I don't run out right away. I plan on using mine for personal use and for my Girl Scout troop.
I didn;t get in on this order in time, where do you roder them from and will you be doing it again... thanks shari [email protected]
I ran an order myself recently...the company American coasters.com is great and Tracy is who you want...really nice lady. And don't forget the coasters are great to use in your sizzix or big shot...Many of the chipboard embellishments I used during VSN I made with the coasters! I'm in the process of making the desk calendars for my daughters teachers right now...great ideas girls! I think our country needs some more creative thinkers working for them....LOL
Please give me the info on ordering the chipboard coasters. Please don't tell me to look in the Forum-----------I always get so overwhemed when I have to do that! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEZE [email protected]

Are you planning on placing an order yourself or are you just wanting to get some from someone who has already ordered? The minimum order from the distributor is 1000 coasters.

Not only do you have to order at least 1000, you have to order in increments of 1000. So, 1000, 2000, 2880(a case), 3000, 4000, and so on. And they all have to be the same weight and shape. You can't order, say, 500 square and 500 round. But there are lots of women that are placing orders. I think I *may* be done, after 20,000+ coasters. At least until I run out! LOL.
I believe the ones that are being ordered in huge quanities are chipboard coasters (like the kind you can get at restaurants) but are blank. And they are being covered with papers, or painted, stamped, etc. and used as all kinds of altered books, calendars, scrapping stuff, etc.

Thank you for your quick response! I would like to order for my downline. If you could provide where I can order the coasters, I would sure appreciate it.
Again, thank you. I wish I got rapid responses from other SC ladies! [email protected]

Read through the this thread. There are links to other threads where SCSer's are buying quantities to split, and other locations that sell smaller quantities.

No. Cricut can only cut "a wide range of paper choices from vellum to card stock choices"...ie nothing thicker than cardstock, so definitely no chipboard. (I do believe it's too thick for any of the personal die-cutting machines.)
I'm not sure about cricut, but I am able to cut chipboard with my sizzix machine. I bought sheets of chipboard from an art supplier online and have used it several times in my sizzix without a problem. I like using it because the chipboard and paper I cut with the same die line up exactly.
