Good luck to everyone with upcoming shows.... I had one last Sunday.. it was at the YMCA.. their first one... maybe about 30 people came through... Other vendors bought from me, and I bought from them.. so no money was made.... live and learn.... Have a great weekend!

I am doing a craft fair in two weeks and I have quite a few of the altered clipboards for teachers and also did a bunch in the advent Christmas calendar style. What is a good price for these? What have others sold these for? Thanks!!!

Just got home from my craft fair. I am not sure exactly how much I sold because we don't handle the money----the church has a central checkout and then sends us a check and price tags taken off the sold merchandise. I am pretty sure I sold at least $300, however. I sold out of beaded RSVP pens, turkey nugget tents, chocolate holders, and Santa hershey bars. Other things that sold well were decorated peppermint patty candy packaged in a clear bag with a topper (thanks for the idea, Jill!), m&m filled test tubes, greeting cards (i was really surprised), composition books, tooth fairy boxes, and homemade dog treats (will post photo soon) packaged in a stamped milk carton box. I have my fifth and last craft fair in two weeks, so I will be busy replenishing my supply. I also plan to add monogrammed initial cards, covered post-it notes, and decorated nuggets in a clear box. Thanks to all the ladies on this thread. I got some good ideas from you and will hopefully be able to inspire you when I post my photos. Good Luck!

Had my first show this season today & I made about $560--very psyched! The table fee was $85 so netted $476. I'll post more details tomorrow but I just wanted to get my pics up before Sunday comes (look in my gallery in a few minutes). I've appreciated all the nuggets I've learned on this thread & I know I love hearing the details & seeing the pics so I promise to deliver after some sleep.

Everything looked so nice.
On your beaded pens, what did you use for the trim on the top and bottom of the pen? They look really nice.

Awesome job girl! Thanks for sharing this encouraging info. I am trying to get my stuff all done this week so that I can sit back next week and relax (or think of more things to make at the last minute ).

I was in a craft/trade show yesterday and I sold $417. Some of it was orders and product that I had brought in. $271 was items I had made from all the wonderful ideas on this thread. A huge thanks to everyone who contributes. Our fair is very small and is a fundraiser for our community so my table was $42 (10% of my sales) all the money goes to our Rec. Centre so it is a great donation. Anyway I thought I wouls share with you what sold for hand made items.
Clipboard Christmas Countdown Calendar-made 4 sold 4
Binderclip Picture Holder-made 18 sold 8
Mini composistion book with pen-made 7 sold 7
Paperclip bookmark-made 9 sold 9
12 Days till Christmas Advent-made 1 sold 1

Christmas Fudge-Made 18 sold 18 (orders for 4 more)

Unassembled pillow boxes(set of 6)-made 3 sold three

Anyway hope this helps any of you planning for a craft fair. If you are a fellow Canadian who is having trouble finding tins, I got mine from Lee Valley. They were very reasonable and the shipping was not bad.

OK Ladies - had my last fair of the season yesterday. It was GREAT. I made $400!!! my best fair thus far. it was HOPPIN'

anyway, people LOVED the small items. Couldn't get enough of the poops & snowman soup. They also loved the post-it note holders and jumbo clothespins. I also sold quite a decent # of xmas greeting cards. Anyway, here is the breakdown of what went. I sold out of quite a few things.

Binder Clips - sold 9 @ $1 each (sold OUT)
Clipboards - sold 1 @$5 each
Altered Comp. Notebooks - Sold 10 @ $3 each
Dry Erase Boards - sold 0
Gift Card Holder Ornament - sold 1 @ $3 each
Regular Gift Card Holders - sold 3 @ $3 each

Hot Cocoa Sliders - sold 4 @ $2 each (sold OUT)

Just wanted to pop on...I too had a fair yesterday. I netted over $160...which I am proud of. I am so used to no sales, as our area is weird. But I was so happy with what I did. Most items were sold out by Noon! I have another one this weekend, so I need to get busting, filling orders from this weekend and making for next!

This all looks STELLAR! I have done a lot that you had done, but I got some very good ideas in looking at how you set up all your little signs. I don't know if I will be allowed to have a card spinner, and I have a stand-alone one like you have... I want to bring it, but am unsure... I should call the folks on that one.

Your table looks so long -- is it one or two tables? Love how you built all the height! I have a glass shelf I put up on two glass blocks, like your white shelf setup, but am lacking that great wire rack with the baskets... hmmm...

my table is just one table, I believe it's 6' long. it's one of those standard tables that you can buy anywhere. My hubby sets it up for me and I throw the table cloth onto it. I use Shoe Boxes underneath to get height. The white shelves are part of my setup in my craft room actually. I take them out & bring them to the shows and they work out great.

The card rack was a great find. I got that for $20 on craigslist. It makes cards much easier to look through. I bring a few TV tables with me, and place my card rack on that. I use the other TV tables as a space for myself where I sit.

I also bring a few shelves that we have in our home - they are just things I've picked up over the years at Target. It's sort of a mismatch of things, but it works for displaying all my items :-D

Ok, the prices (& I have 2 more fairs to do so I definitely had more stuff than I needed!):

All ornaments (paper circles, snowflakes, domino pins/ornaments & domino magnets/ornaments--people liked that they could use the dominos in different ways & it's really easy to add something on the back or a cord to make it an ornament): $3.50 or 2/$6
Circle Ornaments: 3/13 (meaning I sold 3 out of the 13 I had)
Snowflakes Ornaments: 4/15
Domino Pins/Ornaments: 8/62
Domino Magnets/Ornaments: 15/54
For the paper ornaments, I'm going to lower my price to $3 or 2/$5.
(I made SO many dominos because I sold tons last year & I had a huge container of them anyway--they are pretty fast to make too.)

Cards--the ones on the rack were my nicer ones & I put them in clear envelopes. I also could divide them easily by theme. $3 or 4/$10. Broken down by theme: Friends/Love: 2/10; Misc.: 1/8; Sympathy: 1/6; Bday: 1/7; Christmas 5/13; Thanks 2/7; Baby 2/17.
I was pleasantly surprised the individual Xmas ones did well--the lady said she wanted special envelopes to put money in for family. I did explain to them how to mail in the clear envelopes but they could take a regular envelope if they really wanted (no one asked). I think they did well (first cards I've sold in three years of fairs) because of the rack & the clear envies--just made them look so much more classier & easier to look at.
Then I also had not as fancy cards in a divided container on the table: $2 or 4/$6. Sold 4/57. By the way, all the cards were leftovers from other things--I didn't make any for the shows themselves except for the baby ones because I had these cool quilled embellishments I wanted to use up.

Also on the rack:
Wine Charms: $8 or 2/$15. Rings: 10/19; Twisties (beaded wire that wraps around the stem) 2/17. The snowflake ones did best.
Barrettes:: $6. 4/15.

On the table:
Lg Notebook set with matching beaded pen: $7. 6/9. (I'm making more of these! One lady raved that they were the perfect teacher's gift.)

Sm. notebook with matching beaded pen: $6. 0/5 (I think I'm just going to use these as presents--they were leftovers from a class anyway.)

Magnet Bookmarks: $1 I think I sold 5/84. I had so many I didn't feel like counting. I'm going to say choose any 2 for $1 next time. I made so many because they are SO easy to make & I only used 2 pieces of paper for all of them! I've already made a profit on them.

Card Totes/purses: $3. 0/12. These fit 4 cards with envelopes & I meant for people to choose cards for them but it didn’t really work out. I’m planning on whipping up some generic cards to put in them & then I’ll sell the set for $8. I’ll have each set look the same & say they’re a gift set.

Bookmark Clips: $1. 6/21. These were leftovers from last year.
Lollipops: $.25. 7/18. These were leftovers from last year too (hard candy keeps, right?) Of course, three of the sales were from my own kids…

Beaded Pens: $3 or 2/$5. Stamped or made with paper: 4/55. Just rhinestones & colored microbeads: 6/20. I made SO many of these because I found a slim version of the rsvp pen at my dollar store that had 5 in a pkg. for $1 so I went overboard. I’m going to lower the price to $2.50 or 2/$4 to move them. To answer a couple of people’s questions—the trim on the top & bottom is 1/4” grosgrain ribbon adhered with sticky strip.

Baskets with 14 or 15 chocolate kisses (made from the SU! die--uh, the baskets, not the chocolates): $5. 4/24. I’m going to lower the price to $4 ea. because I made so many (again—so easy to make & I had a huge bag of kisses from Costco) & chocolate won’t keep a year!

Purses with 9 chocolate nuggets: $6. 3/10. Going to lower to $5.
Jars with 10 chocolate nuggets: $6. 3/18. Going to lower to $5.

Candleholders (with votive & decorated with rub-ons): $5. 2/4. These were leftover from a rub-on technique club.

Photo Binder clips: $2. I had two kinds—big that were leftover from last year (holding a wedding pic in my photo): 6/12. & this cool kind with flaps that I got for free that had medical advertising on it: 2/10.

Gift Tags (set of 10): $3. 4/26. I’m going to lower the price to $2.50 & advertise they can be used on cards or in scrapbooks. I heard one lady comment she wished they were bigger.

Christmas Card Holders (altered letter sorters): $7. 2/10. I got these from the dollar store so I’ve already recouped so I’m going to lower the price to $6. One lady commented she wished I had some any season ones so she could use it year round.

Candles: $5. 9/29. People really commented on them (in a good way)—had a sample of how to put a tealight candle in them & that was very helpful—I also had the instructions printed & placed in the bag. I might lower the price after my second show. I’ve gotten orders for 20 of them too.

Wine tags: $2.50. 4/12.

Post-it Holders with matching beaded pen: $6. 13/15. Wow, these were popular. One teen asked me if I’d take $5.46 (all she had) so she could get one for her mom (I said yes—& an awww inside). Another commented that she liked the ones without sayings because they were great teacher gifts & you never know if the teacher wants to “Live with Passion” (as 4 of mine said) Hee.

So…yeah, I’ve been working every naptime & then some since Aug. for all this stuff. I’m very pleased with the results & I have plenty left for my next 2 shows (not til Dec. 6 &7). The only things I’ll be making more of are the lg. notebook sets & the post-it holders (I’m going to make some magnet ones this time too) & then the cards for the totes. Then, I have a couple of other small (I swear!) projects I just thought of. Anything that doesn’t sell will be Xmas gifts or put on my etsy store or saved for next year.

I also had a display of my name frames & had a couple of people take order forms so we’ll see. Another lady said she’d find me at my next show cuz she didn’t have any more money.

General tips—try to do a sample set up at home to make sure stuff fits. I had the SU! kid tattoo kits & when a kid shopping with his mom looked bored, I offered to do a free tattoo & they really seemed to like that (I had a stamped sample so they could easily choose which one they wanted). Pretty packaging seemed to help. Having samples of how to use things helped (like the tealight in the candle, the card holder with a card in it, a wine glass with the charm on it). The most popular items in a nutshell: altered dominos, large notebook sets & the post-it holder sets.

I was lucky in that it was a huge show with 100 vendors & I had people tell me my stuff wasn’t like anyone else’s ( I didn’t get a chance to look at the two others who listed “stamping” in their program descriptions so I’m not sure what they sold—maybe just cards? ) Also, this fair had to be all handmade items so I didn’t have to compete with Creative Memories or any other scrapbooking company. I did sign up a few people to my newsletter (wasn't allowed to have the catalog out or take SU! product orders though).

It was pretty entertaining when someone who was obviously a stamper would happen by. This one lady was pointing stuff out to her friend & explaining how to make it or wondering aloud how I made something. It definitely meant the most to me when one would compliment me—no higher praise than when it’s from a fellow stamper! So, I hope this helps y’all & that I’ve paid forward a little of the enormous help I’ve gotten from you too

It is so inspiring! Really. I just hope people (and weather) are cooperative on the 6th and 7th.
I have a few things yet to do and I started taking pictures yesterday as I packed the things that were done already, so once I have them all photographed, will post to the gallery.

I didn't have anything that I made that I didn't sell at least one of. Also with my 3d snowman soup mugs and the tic tac covers, a lady bought 1 of each and asked me if I would be willing to make just the cups and tic tac covers for her work. They are doing a fundraiser for toys for tots and they wanted to send chocolate grams and she thought my snowman soups would be perfect. She wanted to have the 2 she bought as samples to take orders. She will pay me $1.00 a piece to make just the cup & covers I do not have to fill them with anything she will do that. They start selling today and she will e-mail me everyday with order totals for that day. This goes through Dec 8th. There are 55 people that work with her so if I go MIA for a few weeks from here.... I am busy cut cut cutting....LOL! The first show I did most everyone that stopped at my booth bought at least 1 item. The show I did Sunday most everyone were lookers. Hardly none of the vendors did well. Also what went like mad at one show didn't hardly sell at the other & vice versa. It is so weird and hard to predict. All in all I think I did ok, between all my upcoming cup & tic tac orders and sales ($223 total for the two shows) I don't think I did too bad. One booth cost $20 and the other $40. I started late trying to make stuff so I didn't have a whole bunch of different stuff, I am going to work on my stock of things over the year to prepare for next season! I am doing another show next Saturday so I will post how that one goes also!

hey everyone just a quick pop-in to say that I've posted photos from my booth at this weekends fair. Note my poor Mom is in these photos looking freezing! (my booth was in a tent and it was like 5 degrees outside, brrr!)

I bought them at either Michael's or AC Moore for only $1 each! the only bad part is that they don't have a glass insert in the frame portion. I only sell them for $5 each because of this.

Everybody's stuff looks FANTASTIC!!!!!! Sounds like people are starting to get into the shopping spirit now and are starting to buy! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

I'm nervous as all get-out for my first attempt at selling stuff at a show in a few weeks. I hardly have anything as this was so last minute. We're going to my mom and dad's house for the Thanksgiving holiday and I am SERIOUSLY debating bringing most of my stuff so that I can keep working over the weekend. :( This is a pretty small show in comparison to their others but I have no idea as to where to even start. I'm trying to stick to stuff that I already have on hand (comp notebooks - I haven't ever done the pens, binder clip photo holders, Starbucks Frapp 4-packs, cards...). I have the large paper clips so I might attempt a few bookmarks. I was thinking of even doing some luggage tags... I'll just put "travel" or some other kind of sentiment on it and then all they have to do is fill out their info on the back. I don't know... Sounds like the snowman poop, snowman soup and reindeer food seem to be going like hotcakes so I might have to try and find a tutorial on those things. Another thing, if I get time, would be the Christmas fudge candy bar things. Ugh... my head is spinning!!!!!!!!!

I noticed a lot of you said that you have orders for more. Do you try to keep at least one item on hand as a demo item and just tell people that they can order that? Do you have a sign that says that you take custom orders? Do you have business cards? A friend of mine suggested that since I don't have a lot of "inventory" right now because this was so last minute, I should create a photo album of the stuff I've made for friends and family in the past and put that on display and tell people that I will take orders for that stuff. Is that a craft show no-no though?

Default Reporting in!

I had my first show of the season on Saturday. I was very pleased as my sales were up a little from last year. I had $264 in sales, which includes a $7 retired stamp set and a $8 order for coasters. Table cost $25.00.

Here is a list of what I brought, price I had them marked and how many sold:

Snowman Soup $1.25 brought 22 sold 6
Homemade Fudge (large bars) $3 brought 10 sold 6
Jumbo Binder Clips $1 brought 36 sold 28
Jumbo Paper Clips $0.25 brought 48 sold 36
"Magic" Reindeer Food 2/$1 brought 20 sold 11 (I think these sold better this year than last. Last year the sign said $0.50 each.)
Post-it Note on coaster w/ binder clip attached $1.00 brought 13 sold 5
Post-it note book (made with my bind-it-all) $2.50 brought 17 sold 11
4 pack of Tile coasters $8 brought 16 sold 8 and took an order for 1
Cookies for Santa Paint Can kits $10.95; brought 3 sold 2
Altered Frap Bottles $2.50 brought 24 sold 22 ~ I was very excited!!!
Round Coaster made into an ornament $1 brought 6 sold 4
Desk Calendars made from 2 coasters $2.00 brought 12 sold 0 :(
3 � x 6" magnetic calendars $3.50 brought 10 sold 0 :(
Large Framed Art $5.95 brought 4 sold 0
Small Framed Art $3.95 brought 1 sold 0 (left over from last year anyway)
Candles $2.50 brought 3 sold 0 (left over from last year anyway)


I was a little bit sad that no calendars sold at all this year. They were big seller last year. . . crazy how one thing sells one year and not the next. If they don't sell next time I at least I have a bunch of x-mas gifts ready.

I have another show on the 13th so I have a pretty good inventory started. I will be making more frap bottles. People really liked them, and I had one lady purchase 15!

I have some photos on my blog. (I posted some items last week.) I'll try to get some uploaded to my gallery soon.

LOL!!! Thanks, Georgia, but I can't take the credit... that was from my coworker. She told me she would only take 10% for the idea. LOL!

I just talked to DH and since we are going to my mom and dad's for Thanksgiving, I was going to lose out on like 5 days of crafting time which would be HUGE for me right now as I'm trying to get things made for this show. So, he told me that we could take the truck that way I can take most of my crafting stuff along so that I can set up at mom and dad's and keep working! I LOVE HIM!!!

What did you put in the Frap bottles? How did you decorate them? I have a bunch and have used rub-ons and covered the lower part of the bottle with paper designs. I filled them with candy or homemade bath salts. Interested in what others are doing. And what they are putting inside the bottles.

I've seen them with Hershey's Kisses, M&M's, hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, little candy canes, caramels, jelly beans, etc.

I even saw one that was done up in a baby theme with cotton balls, q-tips, etc in the bottles (it was a 4-pack and each of the bottles had something different in them).

I filled 12 with puppy chow and the other 12 with mini candy canes. The frap bottles I used are the large size, so one batch of puppy chow only filled 6 bottles. I was able to fill a bottle with 18 mini candy canes, so I went the route with the other half. I attached a photo below of my puppy chow bottles.

You can see how I decorated them in the photo too.
