8:45PM - JANVSNZ - Raisin' the Roof
Ack, another challenge already?? Yes, but read on (and take a breath), you'll have time to get this started then go back and finish up "Smellin' Pretty" (or any others you still need to finish up).
Code: JANVSNZ
Title: Raisin the Roof
Supplies: Stencil paste or toothpaste or drywall mud
Welcome ladies! This challenge is all about using stencil paste!
Be creative -- get started. If you need a little direction, see below.
Don't worry -- drying time is not included in your 45minute time limit. If you need too, get this started, then set it aside to dry, finish up another challenge, and come back to this one!
There are many different ways to use stencil paste:
-- Use it with a stencil or template to create a raised embossed-like image
-- Apply it to a piece of cardstock and use it as a background
-- Color it or leave it white (some toothpaste has sparkly bits that leave a neat effect).
-- Use texture plates or combs to add texture.
** Note: If you do not have stencil paste, you can use toothpaste (that is what I used for my sample), or drywall mud (or joint compound).
** Tips
(1) When using with a template/stencil, apply the paste (but not to heavy), then using a palette knife (or a craft/popsicle stick) scrape off the excess so there is no paste above the stencil; then gently lift the stencil straight up.
(2) You can color the paste with reinkers, PearlEx, crushed chalk, even watered down acrlyic paint.
(3) You can use a heat gun to help with drying time
(4) Make sure you clean off your template/stencils before it dries (soaking should help with stencil paste & toothpaste; not sure about drywall mud).

Can't wait to see what you creative ladies come up with! I encourage you to try this -- it may sound messy or too hard, but the final result is eyecatching!
Its bad enough that I usually have ink all over me, but now through in bleach, melted plastic, chocolate and toothpaste. What could be next.Mud stamping, hummmm that might have possibilities. LOL

WOW, I am bummed. I thought I had white toothpaste and spackling so I did not buy anything and I have rooted thru every closet and I got zilch. But I definitely will get some tomorrow when I go shopping so I can try this...got tons of stencils. I love all the examples I have seen.

Beth -- I loved your sample -- I don't know how you did that without making a complete mess (like I would have done!!), but then you are very talented!!
Well, it's still not dry, so I will have to wait a bit. This was definitely a technique I have never tried before. It looks really cool, I wonder if I should have made a thinner layer... hmmm...

Jeanne -- you can try hitting it with the heat gun...ok well maybe just use the heat gun to dry it, hitting it will probably just make a big mess!
