I ordered mine this yesterday and I just got a shipping notice. It will be here on next Wed. I was surprised since it is the week of Christmas.

Too true! Amy, it was actually your post in my question about "how to spend my bonus" that made me start looking at the Bug! So really, I blame you... And I'm so sad, can you tell? Can't wait to get it out and play, but I have my monthly Club tonight, so... maybe tomorrow! Where is the best place everyone has found for the embossing folders? My Michaels only had 3- and they weren't the fabulous ones!
Head to Robert's . . . hands down they have the best selection 'cause they have all of 'em -- and you can't beat the 40% coupon. Such temptation to get all of them! Eeeks 'cause Robert's is less than 10 minutes away for me and they know me well there LOL!
Hi JulieHRR! Just wanted to say "Hi". I assume you got your power back on. Was the storm bad up there? Hope you are allright.
Hey there, Sunny! Thank you! Yes, A-OK!
We did get our power back after 24 hours. OMG! It is amazing how much we rely on electricity when we don't have it for more than a few hours . . . evening time was miserable . . . :p I'm pathetic, ain't I?

I got a few calls today from people who loved the embossed snowflake cards I made. They were amazed at the beauty. I tell ya' you can have no talent, put a piece of paper in a sandwich, turn a handle and voile a work of art!
Get a few sparkle pencils and your set
You gave me a chuckle with that! LOL!

Since I promised not to play anymore till Christmas.........I was just wondering.....has anyone tried cutting leftover rubber scraps and making their own rubber stamps? Or does it even make sense to do that since you already have the die? It might be cool, though to be able to stamp a background that matches your die cut. Just thinking out loud here.....
Hmmmm. I've *thought* about it, but haven't done it. Did you know . . . you CAN purchase sheets . . . of rubber gasket . . . in the plumbing department at the hardware store . . . typically comes in two different thicknesses . . . I wonder about the thinner one . . .
. . . hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I wonder . . .

what a cool idea! Will have to think about this one (since I don't have time to try it now...)
I have seen rubberstamps made from fun foam. It was on DIY Scrapbooking. After cutting out the desired shape with a Sizzix the host heated it with a heat gun and then stamped it on a texture. I am thinking fiskars embossing plate and that gave the newly created rubberstamp texture as well. I also have in my stash of stuff something from Quickuts that you can use to make stamps. I got it at Pebbles in my pocket but haven't opened the package so therefore I haven't played with it as of yet!!
very nice, Beth! I wanted that Textile one but the site I looked at didn't have them in stock. I am going to wait till after Christmas and check again.
I have not read all the posts yet, but I wanted to mention I got a lot from busybeescrapbooking.com - pretty good prices, but the best was they were in stock. I got 5 items (shhh..) and the shipping was 4.50. Since I can't get to a store to use a coupon (at least not often) I figured that was not too bad.
My daughter learned to make stamps in her College Education Art Class out of linoleum. It is actually more like a print for printmaking...but same principle. The linoleum is sold at Art companies like Dick Blick-also her college bookstore sold it. You carve into it with an exacto knife. You can use paints or inks and it is pretty fun. The linoleum we used was a light gray and quite soft to carve, much softer than rubber, but firm. She did a Christmas Tree with the word Noel carved into it. Turned out pretty cute. Much easier than trying to use rubber IMHO. Fun to do....and you can personalize it...the trick is being able to carve the way you want!
I have the bug, and bad!!
1. When I tried to use my sissix die that just arrive last night it cut through on the score lines, it is a large die, manilla envelope- and more than 1/2 the score lines cut (tore) thru???
2. When embossing w/ my brass stencils it will not do the smallest impressions, it seems to do the larger impressions okay- I have tried different "sandwiches" to the point of the paper tearing in the larger open areas.. but still no luck. Any ideas?
merry merry happy happy
I got bitten yesterday and ordered my bug!! I ordered from www.busybeescrapbooking.com. I ordered the bug for $59.99 and some dies and embossing folders to qualify for the free shipping of $100 orders. I got an e-mail last night that it shipped yesterday, of course it won't be here until 12/26 but that's ok. And I happened to check e-bay last night for alpha dies and got the Olivia and You're Not The Boss Of Me sets from the same seller for $62.53 total (includes shipping). These were not buy-it-now, but actual auctions. I am so excited, considering these are $79.99 retail each (busybeescrapbooking has them for $59.99 each)!!
Although I'm generally not an eBay lover... it rocks for Cuttlebug! I got 2 alphabets for about that same price- BabyFace & Red Tag Sale. Can't wait- I'm so excited!
I won three ebay auctions a couple of weeks for alphas from the same seller and the total with shipping was under $60! I was VERY excited! I got them early this week and promptly put them in the pile to be wrapped and put under the tree (didn't have time to play anyway...)

I just got home and my cuttlebug is here! Now time to get off SCS and try it out. I ordered several goodies to go with it. I really need to get an alphabet now. I'm so bummed my family arrives tomorrow afternoon!
I have not had too much time to play but need to share my latest trial. I'm not too happy with the layout but really liked the embossing. A couple of years ago I bought 3 huge gift bags at a dollar store (as large as a big paper grocery bag) - I restrained myself and only got gold, silver and red - all shiny. Tried the silver in the swirls embossing folder and it is super looking. When I scanned it it just about looks black, but it is really very shiny IRL (see it in my gallery).

This cracked me up! Let nothing interfere with Cuttlebugging! LOL
See, I'm laughing now 'cause my bug is still under the tree. I will be *much* more serious on Christmas Day. What Christmas dinner??? Leave me alone! :-)

I looked but did not see the bag. I like the cards you made though!;)

Haha! That is why I told hubby it was a belated Birthday present (Nov 25) so I could play now! I did run some stuff through last night since he asked what it did. He looked so amused (insert sarcasm!). I did dream of some cuttlebug card designs last night. I'm technically working from home today, guess I need a few breaks and lunches today to play!

Sorry...
First of all, no stupid questions among us stampers because we were all new once and asked the same questions.
Second, chipboard is a sort of cardboard. It's not corrugated like shippng boxes, it's more like shoebox type. It's a hot trend, SU sells it in various die cuts, and you can find lots of things made from chipboard at the craft store in the scrapbooking section. It's very fun!
I looked but did not see the bag. I like the cards you made though!;)
I did not make that very clear! I cut the bag into pieces. I used a piece to emboss, and it is the top half of the card - embossed with divine swirls. It makes a very shiny bg. I think I will go back and edit the description - especially since the silver looks black on the scan.
I am thinking that red gift bag will make something nice for Valentine's.
I got about the equivalent of 4 12x12 sheets of shiny metallic paper in one bag for $1.
Well, ladies, I'm peeved. I went to Joann's and carefully examined my 50% off coupon to see if it listed the CB. It didn't. It did say you couldn't use it on a Cricut.
So I headed to the register with the empty box (they pull it after you say you're going to buy it.) I said, "Is it on sale?" and they said, "No." I said, "Then I can use the coupon?" The girl said she had to call the manager and the manager said, "No, you can't." I said, "It's not listed on the front of the coupon!" and she said I still coudln't use it!
Steamed. I told them I didn't want it after all. My inlaws gave me $50 to spend on myself for Christmas; so that was going to be my gift from them, but they wanted $89 for it. So she brought it up front for nothing...I didn't feel too bad about that!
Why didn't you press the issue? I would have demanded her boss be called.
The boss was the one that brought the machine up front. I had my kids with me, so I wasn't in the mood for a big noisy scene, LOL! The way I looked at it, they lost the sale. I'll write a letter to the company expressing my displeasure.
I would be going right back there, you can get it with the discount. Ask for the manager. That isnt right of them at all. They offer it to some and not others?
I bought mine on tuesday at Mikes with the 40% discount and I didnt even have a coupon. Dont Mikes and Joanns take each others coupons? You could go to Micheals and buy it there.

Our JoAnn's tried to pull that one on me too. But the sales girl didn't know the difference between a Cricut and a Cuttlebug evidently. I had to "enlighten" her. LOL She went to ask someone else, who went to ask someone else......I just waited patiently until they said "ok". I'm glad they didn't give me a hard time (like the Manager denying it) - that would have been hard to swallow and still be nice! ;)
Oh, Janeen! I'm so sorry! I hate being disappointed. :-( Hope you find a bug somewhere else!
Well, I wasn't really planning on buying it today, it's just that I was there and had the coupon and saw it and suddenly, I lusted after the thing. It's not everyday that my in-laws send me a check, hee hee...
I figure I can try another Joann's; that isn't the only one in the area.
If you have a Michael's try them. I used my coupon and the lady behind the counter told me that Provo craft told them that they had to accept the coupons for that Item. The only thing they don't accept the coupons for is the actual cricut. If you don't have a Michaels, somone on Ebay is selling them for around $50-60 dollars. Of course the waiting is no fun. Good luck!
