Talking Treat Pouch

I posted a picture to my gallery of three projects we did at my Upline's last month - SEE HERE - and several people have PMd me and left comments about how this pouch was made, so I'm posting this thread to share the technique.

It's just an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock. I used regular copy paper first to get the folds right...you'll get it! :-D

Soooo---if it is an 81/2 x 11 piece...in order to get the triangle shape you end up folding the paper and cutting off the left over on the end correct???? Or am I missing something???
Thank you :p

I have been fiddling with this and I am having a hard time with it. What am I doing wrong?? I even tried cutting and it still didn't come out right?? Maybe it's me but how do you get a triangle out of a rectangle without cutting??

Any time I have seen this done, you start with a square piece of paper. I can't see any way to get a square starting with a rectangular piece of paper--it just wouldn't line up. Starting with a square, this is easy-peasy--the technique is the same as an origami cup. Check out this link: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

HTH!

Thanks for the info--I was making myself nutty trying to figure out the triangel from a rectangle fold--and thanks to you I now know I haven't totally lost my marbles!!

I'm so sorry, I was to hasty and left out that detail. Yes, you do cut off the excess after the first fold to make it a square...Or just cut your paper to 8.5 x 8.5 -- Sorry some of your were having issues! I've been so busy since my new job started...how did I ever have a life when I worked before!?!?

Default Loved it!

I really liked this idea!! Thank you! I had fun making them smaller to. If you do a 4'' by 4'' piece of paper they make a cute place card and you can put a after dinner mint in them to. When making smaller ones I used the scrapbooking paper because it is a lighter weight and easyer to fold.

I make these starting with 8"x8" paper. Here are some that I made with some 8x8 paper from TAC: http://www.ashadeofblue.net/gallery/....php?pos=-6847
We did a Valentine's one for a hostess club meeting and the girls loved it! ALSO, I decorated a banquet table for a church event and folded the napkins like this to put some chocolate kisses inside. Those went over well too!

Just a couple more ideas! ;)
