Challenge: FEB10VSNL, Sharpen Your Blades!
Date: Saturday, February 27th
Time: 6:00 PM
Hostess: Kelly (aka Schirmcat)
There are SO many events in the Winter Olympics requiring you to "sharpen your blades"...figure skating, speed skating, short track, luge, bobsled...
Well, I think it's time that a new blade be added to this list...the SCORING blade! So get out your scoring blades whether it be on a Scor-pal, Score It Board, or even make fancy folds with your bone folder. The challenge is to make a decorative pattern using scored lines. It can be a simple 2-track set of lines like from a bobsled or your can get really decorative and make an intricate pattern like a figure skater! So you choose the sport...are you feeling the most like Michelle Kwan, Apolo Anton Ohno, Dan Jansen, or the Jamaican Bobsled Team tonight? There is a random MEDAL that will be involved in this challenge! Mention your favorite Olympian past or present in your post, and you will be entered to win a prize from SPELLBINDERS, yay!I can't wait to find out after you sharpen your blades!

Just remember I hadn't finished uploading my card for this challenge. I loved doing this score frame and will have to do this more often.

P.S. My favourite Olympian has to be Shaun White - that boy sure can throw out the tricks on the snowboarding half pipe. My other fave is Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards who was a British ski jumper when I was a child and he came last and was made a national hero because of it. Even today people still love him LOL No idea why because he came LAST!!! __________________ Come visit me here

EDDIE THE EAGLE! I thought of him while watching ski jumping the other day! I LOVE that he was such a hero. SHAUN WHITE is my current school girl crush. Made a card about him the other day for Mothermark's tea party entitled "The Flying Tomato", see my avatar...I am pretty sure he is my long lost twin, hahahahaha!

I could go on and on about fave Olympians...my fave from this year (besides Shaun White) has GOT to be Joannie Rochette....what an amazing show of grace and courage!

Quite a remarkable group of athletes this year - it's hard to pick just one. I think I'm most impressed by the whole Georgian team after losing their comrade right at the beginning. I also really loved the Korean figure skater (forgot her name) that won gold for them. Their very first figure skating medal!

I'll be doing this challenge for sure! I got a Scor-pal at Christmas time and it has just not seen enough action! As for my favorite Olympian, that's tough! Apolo Ohno is an amazing competitor and a local, but I think I will have to go with J.R. Celski. He's another local (for me) and I think he's on his way up! Three cheers for J.R.!!!

Oh, I almost forgot. My favourite Olympian is Steven Bradbury. He won gold for Australia in a winter Olypmic past, when all the other speed skaters in front of him fell down and he came from behind to win the gold! Too funny!!

My favorite is Joannie Rochette as well. I can't imagine holding up to the regular pressure of the Olympics much less the great loss that she went through.

I'm looking forward to working on this (and many of the other challenges) I have an idea running through my head already for this one though...
I have been busy watching the Olympics in the bit of spare time I've had so far this weekend so need to get some stampin' in tonight!
Thank you for an awesome event...and this challenge.
My favourite Olympian? Catriona Le May Doan would be up there with her class and Gold Medals! I also always loved the Duschesnes (not sure how much, since I really don't know how to spell their names...)

Hi Kelly! I chose Apolo Ohno as my favorite. I wrote more about why I chose him in my card description.
I used my score-pal to made diagonal lines to immitate the "lanes" on Apolo's speed skating track, and used USA's colors of Red White and Blue.
