Here is what I copied: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...1560?&cat=5644
Done by Redcb. I thought they were really cute - I used candy (I think its called Starbright?) Minty things with red lines through them -they were individually wrapped in the bag they came in so I thought they would work well.

I use ad tech glue to glue the paper on with a coat of mod podge or spray sealer on top. I use the magnet strip that is self adhesive, but if i was using magnets that needed adhesive I would use that awful e6000.

HAHA! That is so funny! What do you have against E-6000? I guess to each his own.. It is my fave adhesive these days though and I have tried many! So many of them don't stick to this or that..and you don't find out till after you have done 20 of the project... So I love E-6000 because it seems to be good to go permanently for everything and it doesn't yellow, which is such a bonus to me!!
And to answer the question, I use E-6000 for the magnets on the back of the clothespins because I buy the thicker coin kind that don't have adhesive and put 2 on each clip so I know it will hold whatever they clip up.

I actually love e6000 for its strength, quality and PRICE! I just hate the smell. I have a 6 year old and 9 month old, and I craft with them at my feet, and I can't use the e6000 around them for fear of the toxicity of the vapor! I hate when I have to wait for them to go to bed to finish my projects.
One more thing, I use the coin type magnets on many projects because of their strength and I was very leery of the magnet tape not being strong enough, so I made one and clipped TONS of stuff up there, so much that the clip wouldn't hold more, and it stuck. I think this is because there is so much surface area touching the fridge!

I agree! The smell is sooo bad! I too was using the strips of magnets and having no issues with them staying on the frig, just that the magnet would pull off the back of the clothespin. So now I am using the "stinky glue" (as my DD calls it) and some tiny round magnets that I found on ebay! They are super strong...and were only $23.00 for 500! They are about 1/4" round and 1/16" thick. Seem to be perfect for the clothespins...may have to try them on the round glass marble magnets now...

Thanks! I ended up trying SU! glue stick - and it's sticking better than I thought . I just put one round magnet on mine and used the e6000. I must not have a strong sense of smell because I don't notice the odor ha ha. My daughter was watching me and started waving her hands in front of her nose so I realized she was picking up the smell and I made her sit farther away from me.
Just having one magnet seems strong enough. I got the ProMag magnets from Michaels. I will put a photo in one of them for display. Hopefully customers will use it that way and not try to use it on anything too heavy.

I got those same magnets. Aren't they great? I cannot believe how strong they are. With 500 magnets, I feel like a rich woman.
I remember Joypup amazed us all when she said she sold her clothespin magnets for $3. She used the same kind of super strong magnets. She said when people realized they could really use them to hold a bunch of stuff and not fall off the fridge, that sealed the deal.

I am wondering if anyone has found te red hots in bulk anywhere? I just got back from Walmart [after $ tree & grocery store did not offer large quantities] and all they had also was the movie theater type box for $1. That won't spread too far, making the rudolph spares not very cost effective.
However, I did get the red & green M&M's and will just sort them out. I also picked up cinnamon disks for a large bag for $1, which ironically, my husband had already suggested. So between the 2, I will make due for these shows. Guess since I have the green M&Ms now, looks like Grinch pills are in my future!
I am making them more of a treat jar, rather than the bagged type $1 item. All these baby food jars I knew I would use are going to come in handy [and finally not be in the way at our house, at least!]. Pictures to follow.

Amy,
I decided to do some Rudolph's Spares and ended up buying Cherryhead's (think Lemonhead) at Smart and Final. It was a 24 pack of individual boxes for just over $5. They have about 18-20 in each box. I used some small bags from a big box store and topped it with a decorated Top Note folded short but fat. Does that make any sense? I will post pictures later when I have it all assembled. I would say that they are each costing me about 40¢, so it's not a big money maker. I'm hoping that if someone buys one thing it will lead to another (and another and another )

I guess you could display them holding a ton of stuff so that shoppers "get it"? I need to find a new way to display them. I looked at magnetic boards today and they are a little pricey...and not sure how to prop them up and not take over a lot of room on my tables. Maybe an easel next to the table? {Sigh} So much to do.... and it's eating into my profits!!!

Hi,
how about using a cookie sheet that you decorate with some DP, they have the smaller ones for not that much at some of the $ stores and if I am correct Walmart has some that are not too bad either. Just a thought and you could just prop the cookie sheet up on a picture/plate holder thingy from the $ store. he cookie sheets are after all metal ;D.

That is a great idea! I had used some last year to make advent calendars too! I think I even have one laying around my craft room....!
In case you are wondering...this is the type of advent calendar I'm talking about. These aren't mine - I forgot to take a picture. Maybe this year.... HERE OR HERE
Don't recommend it for a craft show, but Oh So Cute for the kiddies! My DD has been asking to get it out already.....

You can probably find one cheap at a thrift/resale shop. You can use spray paint to hide any spots.

Can you give the item number or seller for these? I am trying to find that size for a reasonable price.

First Sale done,...final take $370. Aprox $100 less then last year, table cost $10. No "Big" sellers. Very differant group then usual, less lookers by far, those that came did buy. Less dollar items sold and more cards then ever. Am shocked, sold a bunch of Thanksgiving and Christmas cards that I was asked to make but would not normally do. Priced $2-3. Would have pics put kids used the camera and when I got to the sale set up and was going to take pics, the camera was DEAD!!! Have another sale Sunday, will update,am EXHAUSTED!!!

Hooray for you, Barbiejo! Sounds like a very successful sale. I hope I can do that well on Saturday.
That's interesting about not selling the $1 items so much.
Maybe people are really looking to buy something that is an actual gift to give, and don't care about the little silly stuff that costs $1.
We could analyze it forever and probably not figure it out . But I'm happy you did so well. Give yourself a pat on the back and put your feet up.

Wow! That's awesome! Congratulations! I think that's great even though you say it's $100 less than last year. I must be going to the wrong places because my sales never come that close and my tables are always between $20-$30! Looking forward to seeing your photos .

How do you ladies display cards at a craft fair? I won't have a back wall or anything to prop things against. Thanks!

Wanted to note a problem I had with the black round magnets I got at HL. When I attached them to my glass marbles with e6000, and picked them up the next day when they were dry, I found that they had bled black marks through my paper. Yuck. Now I have 12 yucky magnets on my fridge that I couldn't sell. Thankfully it was only 12. I did, however have luck with the 50 pack that came from wally world. They had smoother sides. Maybe they are sealed?!

I ordered 500 from this same place and they came quickly from Honolulu by First Class Mail.
You will be amazed how strong these little magnets are. They are a special kind called "rare earth magnets."
I had trouble getting them apart to even glue them onto my clothespins.

barbieJo~ WTG! That is awesome! I hope we ALL experience the buyers purchsing larger items this month!! I would like that change!
Chef Mama~ When I sold cards, I purchased [from Dollar Tree] rectangle baskets. That was last year but they have storage items all the time. I then made dividers that were a little taller than my cards and then added a tab punch on the top of that and staggered where each tab was placed [middle, far right, etc]. Then on each tab I had the occasion [baby, birthday, etc]. That way, they could quickly flip to the occasion they might be interested in. I had about 3 baskets when I was really trying to sell them and generally keep one now, off and on. Maybe even stagger the height for added appeal. I have also seen some folks score actual store fixtures whether through local freecycle.org, craigslist or even if a store is closing, they will sometimes sell spinner racks, card racks, etc, that you could totally use. For instance, my local Blockbuster is closing and selling all their fixtures. The tiered racks they use for selling new DVDs on tables would be perfect for my stationary sets and other similar items. Anytime you can add height at different levels, it will ALWAYS make you look more appealing than a flat table of stuff that makes the eye just glaze over. Only bummer thing is the fixtures are not available until January so I am still pondering. I use cake stands at diff heights to raise baskets, picked up locker storage shelf thingies that are perfect for raising and adding interest... I digressed, sorry, but the display really makes the difference and I get a lot of compliments that I look professional [which always makes me laugh]. have a great day!
I ran out of staples so I am off to Target!

I would still say $3 each, or 4 for $10 -- maybe 10 for $20
You are not only a crafter -- but a salesperson -- and your job is to sell as many as you can make, while also making a living wage.
The pretties kit stuff is expensive, really -- and you deserve the extra money.
Get folks to go in together to buy a bundle, and don't think about selling one or two ;^)*
these are beautiful and worth $3
If they want to make them for less -- let them buy the materials from you!

Aw, Thanks, Bugga! And I know what you mean about feeling rich. A few years ago a very, very generous person sold me 1000 of them for $10 -- before he knew what he had, I think -- and I am rather hording them! ha! Love to have them, though.
Enjoy yours!

Here's the snowman mug filled. I still need to put the tag with the poem on it. I'm also attaching a photo of my Rudolph's Spares. I posted these on another thread, but thought I'd put them here too.
I have my best friend coming over tonight to help me get a few things wrapped up. My fair's on Sunday, so I'll be busy all day tomorrow.
Can anyone tell me what kind of change they brought? I need to go to the bank tomorrow to get money for change and I'm trying to decide what to get. Thanks!

Stacey,
So in other words, you can't help me . What are you thinking of getting? I have some $1 items, some $4 items, some $5 items and a few $7 or $8 items. I had read somewhere of someone pricing their stuff with 95¢ on the end. She said that she thought it made people feel like they were getting a better deal and she just had a pocket full of nickels. My friends are coming over tonight to help me finish up some stuff and do my mock set up. I'll get their feel on the pricing too. We're all tightwads, so I think we should be in line with the general public .
